I never thought of this scene in this light. I always see it as a genuine, heartwarming scene. I like to think that Aeryn was mostly able to relax and enjoy the family time this much, because it was something she's never experienced before and now she does with none other than John's family. But of course she was also trying hard to fit in and prove to John her intentions to make it work with him even on Earth if he wants to stay. I also think Jack and Olivia realized that there's something between John and Aeryn, so they were extra nice and friendly to her to make her feel welcomed. But I don't think it was ever in a "let's test her" way, instead they were doing it for John to make him feel comfortable, that's why Jack was forcing and trying to recreate old happy times in hopes that John would finally "relax" cause they all felt his distance. I never thought of it before but I can totally believe John was on Lakka here, just so he could keep his cool and keep his emotional distance from Aeryn and hide his trauma from his family and that's why he played up being embarrassed, because it was getting harder and harder to hide it from Aeryn and his family. Regarding Caroline, I think she showed up on her own, cause her old, now famous bf showed up and she wanted to see if she can warm things up with him. Thank God, she turned out to be a nice person who stepped back when it became clear John is not interested.
