life update <3
hi it's adobe!! just thought i'd give y'all an update on what my life is rn :))
i'm just about almost done with my studies and am in the process of completing my final exams!! so i'm really excited about that!!

our last goodbye.
(why we’re closing ficscafe despite a very successful run).
on march 2021, we (murai & gyu), as writers in the kpop community noticed that there wasn’t enough traction/support for authors. to help, we figured that the best way to combat this obstacle of lack of engagement & helping readers find new writers was to create a general kpop ficrecs page where the community would be able to send their favorite fics & created a network as a resource environment for writers.
by september 2022, we’ve surpassed a year with the blog, received over 566 applications, earned 4.2k followers on tumblr, have 413 active members, and posted sixty-two weekly themes.
and with that, we’ll be closing the network & ficrecs page officially.
we’ve had some good times here–met a lot of friends that we still talk to outside of the network, developed skills in our writing that we obtained from meeting other authors, gained inspiration from other writers, and have a newfound respect for understanding perspectives of both readers & writers. it was a great run for the both of us, however it is our time to flip the open sign to close, and lock the doors of ficscafe.
so, before we go, we’d like to share our experiences that would give our followers/members a better idea of what we endured during our time as admins. it’s unfair for us to leave without an explanation, and if you care for a listen, please click read more.

Plagiarism
I previously mentioned that someone stole parts of my story and posted it as their own. When I confronted them, they admitted to doing it, apologized and said they would remove the stolen parts. I was fine with that.
A week passed and they didn’t do this. I messaged them again and they have not answered so I filed a complaint with tumblr. After some back and forth, today I checked my email and they said that after reviewing the content, tumblr will not be taking any action against the post.
I’m livid and I don’t know what to do. Obviously the system in place doesn’t work. Until this is handled, I will no longer be posting any writing. This includes the oneshot I was going to post this weekend for my birthday. If tumblr is not going to protect its writers, I’m no longer comfortable with publishing my fics. Not here or anywhere.
The user that stole my work is @/jjkthclub and the fic is Mr. Right (Swipe) which has portions of my fic Small Doses. It’s the pinned post on their blog. Here is the screenshot of our conversation where they admitted to the plagiarism:
I sent tumblr support another email about this asking what am I supposed to do at this point but who knows. I’m just really pissed. I was the bigger person in this scenario and it bit me in the ass. I don’t want to post writing ever again if there’s literally no repercussions for it being stolen and I was so excited to post the Jaehyun fic and first part to the new story.
I’m gonna log out for a while. I’m sorry.

i scanned through the first few paragraphs and it seemed super familiar so i looked for your recent taeyong fanfic since i had taken note of it to read in the future. thought i should bring this to your attention!

first of all, I would like to thank all those who sent in asks about this because without those asks I would not have even known that my fic was plagiarized since I have smut tags blocked.
this post is in regards to my fic being blatantly plagiarised by @/jaeminncore. i have sent them a message but they have not responded and it's been a good three hours so I've decided to overlook that and continue making this post.
to put things into perspective, I posted my taeyong fic 'Kiss Me More' a mere five days ago (not even a week), and when I woke up today I was met with my inbox full of people telling me that they found a copy-pasted version of my exact fic on another blog. The catch, however, was that in the warnings 'smut' was listed, which meant I couldn't read it being a minor.
But I could read what was given above the read more, and it was exactly the same as mine. I would highlight the similarly written parts if it was needed, but that would mean I would need to screenshot and highlight every single word because it isn’t rewritten by any means, its just copied.
the original fic did NOT have smut (again, minor) so seeing that there was, first of all, odd and secondly extremely disrespectful to me. As if completely copy-pasting my fic, something I had spent so much time and effort working on. Kiss Me More is 28.9k, almost thirty-thousand words and that isn’t a small amount by any means.
So I asked a few of my legal mutuals to check it over for me and take a few screenshots, so thanks to cat @/luvdsc and jackie @/naptaemed for doing so! below is a collage of screenshots taken by cat (right and left most), while the middlemost one is from my own blog. Even in these shots you can see that the ending off my fic was exactly the same in hers, which means that she didn't even change a thing.
what you can also see is that she had reblogged my fic 'favorite crime' with feedback and everything, also seen above. In fact, what baffles me the most is that I have seen this person in my notifications and asks several times, like in the screenshot i’ve provided below- which. by the way, also shows the fact that they have read kiss me more and have gone ahead and copy pasted it as their own fic anyways.
not only have they done this, but as I have mentioned above, they also added smut into my fic. I’m extremely uncomfortable and put off by this because my writing is all completely sfw and this person has gone out of their way to add about 1k of smut (according to jackie) into it and claim the entire fic as their own.
they even follow me!! and my enhypen blog, so really I cannot see how they could ever argue that this wasn’t done with full knowledge of it being absolutely wrong.
both of my aforementioned mutuals ran both fics through a plagiarism check website and these are the results, just to make things a little clearer:

Her posted version of my fic is titled ‘addicted’ and its not even a subtle attempt at plagiarisim. She hasn’t just copied my working, she copy- pasted every single word and titled it differently. She hasn’t responded to my messages, but made a post only a few minutes ago about how she was going to switch anon off. This tells me that she is purposely avoiding my messages and there is nothing much I can do about that, other than make this call out post to bring attention to the matter.
i would like to reiterate that i do NOT allow any reposts/translations or copy pastes of my work. this is absolutely unacceptable because plagiarism is ILLEGAL but we still see so many cases of it going around. It is stealing of someones intellectual property. In her paste of my work, she has deleted a few scenes and then added in sexual content, and I will be very honest about how I feel about this because it is nothing short of, for lack of a better word, icky. I feel like someone has taken my fic and almost defiled it in a sense.
And it’s just so wrong? As a someone who is LEGAL and an ADULT to take a minors work and make it sexually explicit?? I hope I don’t have to explain why that is wrong and disgusting.
This is a person who has been very sweet to my face and had ‘supported’ me in the past. She took my work and blatantly posed it as her own and is refusing to take responsibility for it. I’m pretty sure she is aware of what she has done, and what worries me is that since I have mentioned that I have smut tags blocked, she was probably banking on that fact for me to never find her version of my fic. She has over 1k followers, which is a pretty large following so what also worries me is that there must be so many people genuinely thinking that she wrote all ‘27k’ of that fic she copied. I think that the least I deserve is an apology from her and for her to take my writing down from her blog.

just let ms picasso give you a tiny math lesson: 35 divided by 7 is 5, therefore anything below 35 divided by 7 will be less than 5. so haechan (with a total of 5 minutes 6 seconds) got slightly above average for the duration of the album 😌 which, imo, shouldn’t be a big deal, it’s not like he got 30 seconds like some other nct members in different nct/wayv albums
