Roommate AU: Rina
It wasn't Ricky's choice to get a roommate per se. Having graduated from uni last year and having finally secured a great paying internship with Jamie Porter, he was really looking forward to post-college bachelor life, especially after his longterm relationship imploded and left him bitter and broken. But he's not really given a choice when Jamie and an old college friend, Maddox, pressure him to host Gina Porter, who needs a place to stay in LA while filming until she has time to search for her own apartment.
Sure, he has an extra room, but he's salty because the first time they'd met last year, Gina had called him an idiot and told him his efforts to win Nini back were lame. And sure enough, he regrets it because within two weeks of moving in, Gina redecorates his apartment and studio just because she wants to, somehow manages to commandeer his bedroom as her own, and seems to think wearing pants indoors is a social construct. It's a nightmare.
It's even worse of a nightmare when he ends up falling so uncontrollably, irrevocably in love with her, but he could never put the moves on Gina. Not because Jamie would probably fire him as a protégé (among other very scary potential things) and not because she semi-recently got out of a bad relationship with her best friend's cousin. It's because Gina changed his whole world. She gets him like no one else ever has. She's his person. The soulmate he hadn't realised he'd been waiting his whole life to meet, and the last thing he wants is to lose her.

After 4 years of being roommates in uni, Gina officially moves to LA, leaving a best friend sized vacancy in Ashlyn's home and her heart. To make up for having to leave before the lease is up, Gina helps to set up Maddox, a PA she's worked with a couple times when filming, as a replacement tenant while Maddox is working a movie currently filming in NYC.
Maddox is… a little much, to say the least, and all her phone calls and fighting with her on and off girlfriend Madison get on Ashlyn's nerves like nothing else. But between coffee shop hangs, spontaneous road trip adventures, and texting at all hours of the day, she finds herself clicking so profoundly with Maddox and somewhere along the way, Ashlyn realises this is a relationship she desperately wants to last a lifetime.
She knew this was only a temporary arrangement, but she never expected to develop such utterly, inescapably intense feelings for Maddox. And she never expected to feel so heartbroken when she learned she would be leaving to PA for a film in New Zealand once the lease is up. Ashlyn has never had such crazy feelings for someone like this, and it's terrifying how certain she is that she's met her one true love. Her soulmate. The one person who understands her heart the most of anyone she's ever met. And she doesn't want to lose her.

No omg yeah when you really think about it, Ricky never really knew what nini wanted from him so he did hesitate a lot in their relationship and instead of asking her he ended up asking Gina, (which is crazy in of itself) (because it was easy to talk to her, he valued her opinions, and he never felt judged or self conscious with her) he ended up learning and discovering all the things that Gina would want and like in a relationship (and when he tried to apply that to his relationship with Nini everything backfired(because she wasn’t Gina)) but then he ended up applying that to his and Gina’s relationship (because he was always doing things with Gina in mind anyways.) like that’s actually crazy.
Every girl likes a sweet gesture: singing her the mark and spark theme song (Ricky’s version), decorating her trailer, Writing a song together.
Going behind your back but for a good reason: the chocolates, trying to help her be less stressed and have Dani take over as Gabriella.
If you love her don’t you think you should make your song a little more public: singing her love you forever.
Never say give up your dreams and stay with me forever: Again, sings her a song about how he is going to LOVE her FOREVER.
HES NEVER FORGOTTEN A THING SHE HAS SAID, like the proof is in the pudding.
