One of the weird things about American culture is the tendency to refer to things by brand name, as opposed to the product name.
For example, I’ve known people to say Kleenex when they meant tissue. I’ve heard people use Hoover instead of vacuum.
And it gets to a point with certain things that some people can’t distinguish the difference.
Weedwhacker is a brand. How many people know the real term is “string trimmer”? Jell-O is a brand. And it’s so pervasive that people call literally any gelatin dessert “jello” even if it’s not made by Jell-O. Tupperware! That’s a brand!
The one thing that constantly messes with my head, though:
DUMPSTER IS A BRAND.
AND I HAVE GENUINELY NO IDEA WHAT TO CALL A DUMPSTER OTHER THAN A DUMPSTER.

My three year old daughter came home with a Minnie Mouse figurine, distraught. The plastic toy was missing an arm, and my daughter insisted she couldn’t play with it because it was broken.
I told her that she could still play with it! That some people were born without an arm or that they might get hurt and lose an arm, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t still play or have fun. I explained that some people might get a prosthetic or just have a stub. And she asked what a prosthetic was. I showed her a picture and she was like, “oh! A robot arm!”
When my husband came home, she thrust the toy at him and told him, “Minnie needs a robot arm.”
He was very confused, but he prints and paints miniatures from various table top games. My daughter refers to them as “daddy’s statues.” She knew he could help Minnie. So he dutifully printed her out a robot arm from a warhammer 40k model on our 3d printer, and then they painted it pink and purple together.
All of this to say, look at Minnie Mouse and her new prosthetic!!

Made some more progress on my traitors
Got a decent haul for trading some dg stuff that had been sitting around unloved for a year. Capri sun not included.
With this lot I got 20 new in sprue old cadians. These will be bashed into vraks styled militia, 3 old cadian heavy weapons teams, which will also be vraksian, a painted leman russ, an on sprue russ and an on sprue chimera.
The chimera was very quickly built and painted along with the remaining les grognards and grognard hwts.
The regiment has received a name, too. They're the Atlantic 114th Blighted Horsemen, and now they have some proper armored cavalry!
I'm really happy with how the dozer blade came out.
I also got the second batch of les grognards painted as well as the second batch of heavy weapons.
I'm so excited to get these guys on the table!

genuinely one of the worst things that’s happened to television in the last few years (exacerbated by streaming services) is death of Filler. going from 20 episodes to 8 because “we didn’t really need that episode where the main characters went to the beach right? it had no long lasting effect” but we DID!!! we needed to see how they act without the Big Bad Plot and to establish the dynamics between the characters and lay in the sun (do they forget sunscreen? how do they react to a thieving seagull? do they get buried in the sand or do they do the burying?). the plot isn’t everything. the action doesn’t hit as hard without the quiet moments. give us character development and our little scenes back
