ok, so it's been a while. I've been off writing for a long time but I'm thinking I should get back into it and pick this ol' story up again. So to anyone who's still around, let's chat and work on some threads if you want!

I’ve seen that neopets brush art challenge going around (I wish I could link it but they seem to have changed url/deactivated) and it was missing the newer brushes, so here’s the full list from the Rainbow Pool !
I also added some “brushes” for the other colours that are only obtainable through other methods. Have fun!

Maybe he heard the commotion from outside, or maybe he just knew. It didn't take much to force the door of the pizzeria open. Didn't take much to push his way past the animatronics asking who the hell he was, either—he never liked those things, not after seeing what Garou looked like without his fur on. He didn't know what was going on, but he did know the sound of a child screaming, and he knew what a monster looked like when he saw one. And that REALLY pissed him off. He cracked his knuckles.

Oh, if Ash only knew.  Granted… Gelert couldn’t recall ever being done in by hydraulics before.  It certainly didn’t sound like it would be a pleasant death.  But it wasn’t as if he could stick around if something like that happened either.  So yes, best to be careful.  At least in every way possible.  ”Last guy?  That’s… I’m sorry to hear it.”  He didn’t know what else to say.  Ash seemed so flippant about it… so whoever it was hadn’t been a friend.  Or that’s what Gelert assumed.
As the younger man tried to explain about the woman they were about to meet, Gelert nodded in understanding.  “Believe me, if I could afford to just go buy some, I would.  But…”  He sighed and decided to share maybe more than he should.  “I had to sweet talk my way into the place where I’m staying.  Gave them every last penny I had and promised the rest after my first paycheck.  I travel a lot… and the past few months have been tough.  Finding this town felt like a stroke of real luck.”  The blond ruffled a hand through his hair with a sheepish gesture.  “Anyway, thanks for the heads up.”
Gelert’s eyes roamed everywhere as Ash led him through the bowels of the theater.  It’d been forever and a day since he’d worked in one - and in some ways it felt rather nostalgic.  Louise… surprised him.  Granted, he hadn’t really known what to expect, of course, and looks certainly weren’t any way to judge a person, but he instantly liked her - abrupt nature and all.  Moving forward as Ash nudged him, Gelert offered one of his signature grins and held out a hand.  “Leolin Kellarth, ma’am.  I hope I’ll be able to help everyone out with whatever they need.”  Which was really just his casual way of saying, ‘I’ll do whatever I’m told.’
Ash felt... guilty over his frosty first impression. The man had sacrificed a lot to be here, it seemed, but this place would swallow him whole eventually, like it did to everyone sooner or later. Like he knew it had done to Eric and Louise, to his own father. He could only wonder when it would happen to him.
Louise eyed Kellarth up and down, her gaze hard, but she seemed to approve of whatever it was she saw as she only grunted and went back to her clipboard. “Well, I did promote Ash from gopher, so I’m gonna need a new one.”
“I was ‘promoted’ on my first day, remember?”
“You also fell down the pit on your first day, don’t get lippy.”
Yeah, well, that... wasn’t his fault. Maybe? His memory of the event was hazy at best. And he didn’t want to remember it. He was afraid—he remembered that well enough. “Well, good luck with the hellevator,” he said, cheerfully, “I’m going to show Kellarth the animatronics.”
She didn’t lift her gaze from the clipboard. “Uh huh, you do that—wait, you’re s’posed to run the checks with me!”
But Ash was already wiggling his fingers in a wave over his shoulder. Joel could do it. He was scared of the hellevator—but he could do it. “We’re friends, I promise,” he said to the newbie, as a sort of apology. He could imagine how dysfunctional this all looked to an outsider. “The stairs up to the fly tower and aviary are behind the back wall. We call it the aviary because—well, you’ll see.”
He found himself hoping that Kellarth would like his little project; it was important to him, and Louise and Eric both thought, though wouldn’t say it, that he was wasting his time. They thought that the animatronics could never be fixed. What they didn’t know was that Ash knew where to get replacement parts.

ofarkadia:
Arthur wanted to say something about how he’d seen scarier-looking men who would sooner shoot themselves than their dogs, but refrained.  He knew not to judge a book by its cover.  And yet… wasn’t that what he was doing with Eric?  Maybe not exactly.  After all, these two men were people Ash knew… and seemed to trust.  And Arthur trusted Ash.  So that felt good enough for him.
At Eric’s question, Arthur grinned.  “Honestly?  There’s good and bad bits for me.  A part of me loves being able to help people all over the country.  Like I helped Ash.  And I’ve seen a lot of wonderful places and met a lot of amazing people… but sometimes…”  The vet laughed, feeling a little silly, and shrugged.  “I wouldn’t mind having my own farm somewhere.  Just me and a ton of land and lots of animals, and…”  Here he stopped, not able to help the flush that crept up his neck and onto his scruffy cheeks.  “… someone to share it all with.”  He gave an embarrassed laugh.  “But who knows when that’ll be… so for now, I travel and try to help wherever I can.”
Something about Eric’s tone gave Arthur half a mind to ask if he’d like to join him when he left… but that seemed a little too forward for someone he’d just met.  Still… if he and the other man were still getting along when it was time for him to leave… then he might just make the offer later.  So instead he asked, “What about you?  Done any traveling?  Or… maybe have places you want to go?”  Okay, so that wasn’t as subtle as it could’ve been, but hey, no harm in a little fishing, right?
Was he blushing? He was blushing! Eric felt the pink prickle across his own cheeks and refused to acknowledge it. He would not admit to having feelings in front of Mike. He would not show weakness. Mike was a shark—a hint of blood in the water and he would strike.
Ash, damn him, was already well aware, and that was bad enough. Perhaps that was why he was going out of his way to make the tea as terrible as possible, to distract his fearsome guardian and give them both a moment of time.
“Why did ye put molasses in?!”
“I’m EXPERIMENTING, Mike, you’re just jealous of my scientific genius.”
“Ugh, just—toss it, I’ll start another pot.”
Eric went back to staring at his own hands, wound together in front of him. They weren’t as lined, as scarred, as he remembered. Perhaps he, too, was beginning to change. “That sounds like the best way to live,” he said, just loud enough to be heard over the other two fighting over the jug. “Quiet. Surrounded by nature. Free to go wherever you want, whenever you want.” He sighed. Maybe he was exposing too much of himself. He didn’t really know this man, after all; there was no way to know if he, too, was a shark, until it was too late.
And yet, he continued to speak. “I haven’t travelled in a long time. Since I moved here from Vancouver, actually. And I’ve never been overseas... I have always wanted to go to Europe. See the Colosseum in person, see the Tower of London, a castle or two.”
“There’s nothing stopping you, y’know,” Ash commented, forgetting for a moment that he was meant to be distracting Mike, who snatched the jug back from him in triumph.
Eric scoffed. “The theatre maybe be gone, but it was never the only thing tying me here. I have other obligations.” Like you, he thought, but didn’t dare say it or even let it show on his face, though chances were Ash would know anyway. He knew so much.

“It’s fine,” Eric said, finally wrapping his hand around his glass and taking a sip. Melting ice had watered it down. “It seems like it needed to be said. But we can talk about something else if you’d like.”
He didn’t want to. He, more than anyone, knew that feelings were better emptied out than bottled away—that bottle would become a molotov sooner or later, it only needed someone to light the rag. But these were Michael’s feelings, not his, and it wasn’t his place to pry. And it felt... insincere, to be playing the listening ear now after what he did to Ash.
After what he did to Gael, when he was facing these very same demons.
Maybe it was a chance to make up for sins of the past. No new topic was forthcoming, despite his best efforts, so he only pinched the bridge of his nose. “This song is terrible,” he complained, “seems like something Jaime would listen to.” He knew, somewhere out in town, Jaime would sense the disturbance in the Force and feel slighted, and the thought made him smile. A little.

Ashley smiled down from brewing some other mysterious concoction over the fire—Eric would have guessed more tea, had it not been so lumpy. “Your belly will have to wait a little longer I’m afraid,” the boy, if that’s what he really was, said, “father hasn’t quite finished making dessert.”
Dessert?! But there was already more food than the five of them could possibly eat! Eric frowned as he straightened up, his work finished, and considered his handiwork from a distance; not the tidiest bandage job he’d ever done, but it would suffice. “Does your father intend to fatten us up like livestock, like the old fairy tales?”
It came out ruder than he intended. Thankfully, Ashley laughed—it sounded like chiming bells.
“You ‘ave no idea,” Mike groused. “Y’know how much more I ‘ave to exercise to make up for all this?”
“I like seeing you all sweaty,” the older one, Gael, said with a glint of teeth as he breezed in from nowhere, an enormous cake in one hand and a tray of parfaits in the other. Mike spluttered and turned the colour of beetroot, and Ashlely only laughed more. The man’s grin was wicked sharp as he set the desserts down on the table, ignoring the groan as it bowed under the added weight—and grew longer again to fit them. “Now, tuck in!”
Mike flopped into a seat without hesitation, albeit still bright red. Eric, however, remained where he was; he was more concerned about his charge than the food, and the werewolf was clearly uncomfortable around these strangers.
