Day 57:  Perfect Peace
youtube
Perfect Peace.
These two words stir in my heart as I go through each day and I very often share them with others.  I feel like lately the Lord has opened my eyes to see that this perfect peace He lavishes on even me, that it is not only one of His greatest gifts to me, but also, now having received it, it is one of the greatest gifts and treasures I can share with others.  I would even go so far as to say that sharing this perfect peace may be one of the greatest callings on my life.  I feel like deep down everyone is longing for and searching for perfect peace possibly more than any other desire of their heart.  So today as I share my life verse with you, we will bring to a sweet close this study and I want to end it with a most precious gift to you friend...a treasure I hope that you will always hold close to your heart:  perfect peace.
Isaiah 26:3  The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.

This verse is a promise friends.  It's a promise for you as much as it is a promise for me!  I believe the promises we find in scripture are like nuggets of pure gold to be cherished!  This particular promise
states that if we maintain a state of being, purpose, or a state of mind of leaning on the Lord, resting upon Him, bracing ourself under His protection, that we will be kept as a watchmen guards those under his post in time of war, kept as in watched over, guarded, preserved, kept close, kept secret, blockaded!  We are promised to be kept in perfect peace, completeness, soundness, quiet, tranquility, contentment, friendship by our COVENANT KEEPING GOD!  Why?  Because we have put our confidence boldly in Him!  We can feel completely safe and careless under the shelter of His arms of love!
Thank You Jesus!  Thank You Lord!  What an amazing promise!  What amazing love!  Hallelujah!  Thank You!
What does walking in perfect peace practically look like in my life?
Abiding in Christ.
"....apart from Me, you can do NOTHING." John 15:5
When I wake up in the morning, I try to wake up turning my heart to Him, thankful for a new day.
I go downstairs and get a cup of coffee and I sit in His presence in prayer and worship.  I meditate on scripture as a practical way to put Him first in my day and in my heart.  I go into this time as to receive nourishment from my soul, as to receive my daily bread.
Usually during my quiet time I'll pick one word to take hold of and meditate on all day.  This helps me remember and retain the key truths the Lord spoke to my heart.
After I stand up from my time with Him, I try to take steps in obedience, listening to and heeding His voice.  I try to do this out of a place of rest and out of a heart of love and not in striving.  This includes treating my family and others with the kindness and grace and patience that He has poured over me.  This includes embracing others in need as He leads me.
When I start to stress or when hard things come, this is my prayer all day long,
"I trust You Lord."
"I resubmit to You."
"Open my eyes Lord to see from Your perspective."
I listen to pandora or my worship music as I go throughout each day.  A few of my favorite stations right now are Indellible Grace, All Sons and Daughters, Elevation Worship, Audrey Assad, Kim Walker-Smith and Will Reagan.
I claim the promise when I need it that if I just keep my mind steadfast in trusting in Him that I will be kept in perfect peace.  I do my best to believe it and receive it and walk in it!
When I find myself letting fear and anxiety take root in my heart and mind, I try my best to not let it go too far.  I've been down that road before and it is not a place I want to live my life.  I'd rather be free!
I listen to podcasts in the afternoon to refresh my perspective.  I'll put one on my phone as I do laundry or dishes or while driving or running.  You can download a podcast app on your phone to make it super easy.  I use downcast.
My favorite podcasts are:
http://inspiredtoaction.com/thepodcast/
http://godcenteredmom.com
http://homefries.com/shows/the-simple-mom-podcast/
I also listen to Francis Chan's sermons on youtube :)
I get on my knees.
When I can't seem to overcome, I text my friends and mentors to pray for me!
I realize that perfection will not be actualized in Tessa this side of eternity and those of you who know me well know all to well that I'm not perfect.  I am very much bent towards anxiety, stress, and pressure.  This does not mean that I have to go down that road though.  I will continue to have to depend on the Lord moment by moment for this peace and I will most likely go through seasons of hardening my heart to the Lord and fear and anxiety will soon come knocking at my door in those times.  I just hope to have the wisdom to not tarry long in my sin and CHOOSE to repent and soften my heart to the Lord ASAP!  It is always my choice.  I can choose to go at it alone on my terms and carry my own burdens or I can choose to trust in the Lord and cast my burdens on Him and have perfect peace.
I took this photo running by the river near my home this past week.  As I was running I was remembering the photo I took on the run I was on when
the Lord first planted the seed to write this study on the book of Hosea.  I'm so grateful for the time in between and for the blessing of having you running this race beside me during this time!
Jesus thank You for loving me so much more than I could ever put into words.  In the middle of my harlotry and idolatry, You paid the ultimate price for me.  Daily as my heart is turning to things that can never satisfy or profit or deliver, all of Your compassions are kindled toward me and You sing Your love song over me.  You whisper in my ear to just sit and stop striving and just know You and and rest in You.  You open my eyes to see that it's my heart that You desire.  You gently remind me of who I am to You - beloved, accepted, dearly loved and cherished.  Thank You Jesus, I trust in You, I submit to You.  In Your precious and holy name, amen.
Philippians 4:7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:12LORD, You establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished You have done for us.
Colossians 3:15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
John 14:27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Perfect Peace and agape love be multiplied in you and through you and all around you day by day beloved!
Have a God day!
Love, Tessa

Day 56:  Pressed - Guest post by Chelsea Barrick
When I was a little girl, my sister and I lead a life of many secrets, of hurt, pain, and feelings of being utterly alone.  My mom could not care for us at times in our childhood and a time came when we were two little girls on a pilgrimage searching for our next home, our next meal, or possibly our next family.  There was one night in particular when my sister and I had been staying with a family for a few days.  I remember that night lying in bed and being thankful that I had a bed to sleep in and food in my stomach. As I was laying there though I overheard this lady talking about how she wasn’t sure she could handle caring for the two of us and that they would need to discuss which one of us would stay and then find another home for the other.  The shock of hearing that sent me into uncontrollable sobbing and I was trying to smother the sounds of my tears in the pillow for fear someone would hear. I just laid there praying and asking, "God why us?   We are so little and young.  Please keep us together.  Find a home or please make my mom well enough to care for us".
That was definitely a hard time in my life and at that time I did not understand it and wondered why God would ever allow children to feel pain to that degree. I know now that even in those very dark times, He provided everything we needed not a minute to soon or a minute to late. He gave us the strength and courage to fight day after day. He provided by letting my older sister stay by my side.  Just when we may have lost hope, He gave us the hope we needed.  He placed loving and caring women and men in our lives for periods of time that helped guide us and they would even pray with us and for us through the rest of our journey through our childhood, teenage years, adulthood, marriage, and motherhood!  He gave us not one earthly mom but several that I will always hold dear in my heart.
Trials are hard and sometimes unbearable at moments. I have been through many trials, starting as a young child and even into my adult life.  Even though this verse has not always been my life verse, recently over the last couple of months, God has repeatedly made this verse known to me through scripture when I’m reading, through devotionals, and through my bible study. As I was studying this verse and looking into it deeply, I found it was written by the apostle Paul and in this verse he is referring to some of the trials to which he and his fellow laborers were subjected to in making known the gospel.  Could you imagine 40 something men plotting to kill you or being imprisoned and beaten?  I love how Paul used his suffering to glorify Jesus.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9  We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
pressed - to crowd (literally or figuratively) afflicted, narrow, throng, suffer tribulation, trouble.
crushed- to hem closely together, that is (figuratively) cramp, distress, straiten. Not Crushed-In all things we are pressed, but are not suffocated.
perplexed - to have no way out, that is, to be at a loss (mentally)- (stand in) doubt, be perplexed. Brought into circumstances of great embarrassment, hardly knew what to do, or what course to take. Were surrounded by foes; they were in want; they were in circumstances which they had not anticipated, and which greatly perplexed them.
despair - To be utterly at loss, to be utterly destitute of measure of resource, to renounce all hope, be in despair. Not despair- Their needs were provided for; their embarrassments were removed; their grounds of perplexity were taken away; and unexpected strength and resources were imparted to them. When they did not know what to do; when all resources seemed to fail them, in some unexpected manner they would be relieved and saved from absolute despair.
persecuted- to make run or flee, put to flight, drive away, to run swiftly in order to catch a person or thing, to run after. To purse in a ( hostile manner). In any way to harass.
abandoned - desert. Leave in straits, leave helpless, utterly forsaken, to leave behind, to leave surviving. Not abandoned- Not abandoned; nor left by God Though persecuted by people, to experience the fulfillment of the divine promise that God would never leave nor forsake us. God always interposed to aid us; always saved us from the power of our enemies; always sustained us in the time of persecution. It is still true. His people have been often persecuted. Yet God has often interposed to save us from the hands of our enemies; and where he has not saved us from their hands, and preserved our lives, yet he has never left us, but has sustained, upheld, and comforted us even in the dreadful agonies of death or trails.
struck down - to throw to the ground, to put in a lower place.
destroyed - to destroy, to put out of the way entirely, abolish, to put an end to ruin, render useless, to kill, to declare on must be put to death, to devote or give over to eternal misery in hell. Not deserted; Not killed. They rose again; they recovered their strength; they were prepared for new conflicts. They surmounted every difficulty, and were ready to engage in new strifes, and to meet new trials and persecutions.
(All above definitions and commentaries are taken from www.studylight.org)
What I love so much about this verse is that in every trial, He is there right by our side, never abandoning us.  I don’t know a single person who wants to endure trials or to have their heart hurt or to experience feelings of being hopeless, alone, or abandoned.  I have felt the deep, hard pains of trials.  Sometimes when I think back on some of them I have endured, my eyes begin to water up and my throat begins to close….I know these feelings all too well.  It's often as if the pain is still as much present today as it was when it happened. Have you ever felt that pain before?  I think back to those times and I remember thinking, "I don’t think I will survive this".
I loved the definition for not destroyed that I shared up above.  They rose again; they recovered their strength; they were prepared for new conflicts. They surmounted every difficulty and were ready to engage in new strifes and to meet new trials and persecutions. It’s through the pressing times that I have seen Gods hand move in my life, guiding, and redirection my footsteps. I know in order for us to grow and to change to become more like Him that pressing times must come. I love how 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 says, “for this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison”.
Romans 8:35-37Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the daylong; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
James 1:2-4Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
2 Corinthians 4:16-17So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.
This is my precious friend Chels and her sweet daughter Maybre at the pumpkin patch last week!  I've known Chelsea for about 6 or 7 years and she has always been dear to my heart but just recently the Lord has taken our friendship so much deeper.  We are just at the same place in our desire to know the Lord and to abide in intimacy with Him!  We are also homeschooling and doing Classical Conversations together.  One thing I admire most about Chelsea is her ability to make light of hard situations!  Lately it seems when everyone else seems to be stressing out and overreacting (including me) she is smiling and laughing and trusting God!  Last night even, I was keeping her kids because she wasn't feeling good and my husband took her precious 2 year old along with my 2 year old to the park.  Her little daughter Maybre fell and got a pretty deep cut between her eyes.  Chelsea and her husband Chris were so gracious and forgiving toward us and they just smiled and laughed and said, "she will be just fine!"  If it wasn't for the contagious, sweet light hearted spirit they had I may have lost it!

Day 55:  More Intimately
youtube
Take some time to quiet your heart before the Lord and to seek His heart.  Prayer journal the things you are deeply thankful for and confess your sins and pray for complete reconciliation through the atonement of the cross.  Journal your desire to know Him more intimately.
Jesus, humbly we come before You today, yearning to know Your love.  Our hearts are void and empty if not satiated with Your love.  In You alone we find all that we need to truly live and truly love.  Awaken us to see and know how You love us so.  Every burden, every idol, all of our affection and devotion we place at Your feet.  All consuming fire burn away the dross and purify our hearts to a renewed and profound intimacy with You.  Jesus please speak through your precious word to the deepest place in our hearts.  In Your precious and holy name, amen
Write the scripture below in your journal putting your name in the blank.
O _____________, what more have I to do with idols?  It is I who answer and look after you.  I am like a luxuriant cypress;  From Me comes your fruit.  Hosea 14:8

Take some time to meditate on this verse.  Journal asking the Lord to open the eyes of your heart to see how much He desires to be first in Your heart.  Beg Him to reveal to You any false gods in your life.  Ask Him to show You what it means to abide in His love more intimately.  Journal your desire to be completely satisfied in Him, bearing  much fruit for the glory of His name.
Lord we declare it is from YOU ALONE that we can actually attain to, acquire, catch, get, hold onto anything of true value - our children's hearts, our influence, peace, joy.  If we are to have anything truly beautiful spring from our lives it will be out of our heart connection with You alone!  You alone satisfy our longings to have purpose.  You alone make the dreams You have placed in our hearts come to fruition.  It is You who answers and responds to the longings of our hearts.  It is You who is continuously singing Your love song over us.  You have searched us and you KNOW us Lord.  You behold us. You see us as we are.  Nothing is hidden from You.  Lord we ask in spirit and in truth that You would still our hearts with Your love and speak to us in the deepest place that we would stop continually and repeatedly looking to false gods to fill the holes in our hearts.  Let our hearts beat in rhythm with Your love.  Pour it over us please Jesus.  Drench us in Your love.  Please let it begin to pour out of us as a fountain of living love that it may affect those around us and generations upon generations after us.  Let us never again tarry long in mediocre living and in white washed tomb religion.  Let us continually pour out our hearts and maintain intimacy with You.  Lord we just want to know how You love us so, more intimately!  We need You Oh we need You!  Every second Lord we need You!  In Your precious and holy name, amen.
Well this wraps up the time we will spend actually in the book of Hosea.  I hope that you come away from this study with a deeper understanding of the message of this book forever imprinted on your heart.  I have at least one more post for you friend from my heart....I love you!
Have a God day beloved!
Love, Tessa
P.S The video above is a sweet playlist!  Listen to it throughout the day and be drenched in His love :)

morning by morning.  We pray You would make us to blossom like the lilly for the display of Your splendor, breaking forth from our closed hard hearts into wide open places of true intimacy with You.  As we sit and cultivate intimacy with You, waiting on You for each step, would You make us to soar on wings like eagles in Your presence?   Lord please let our roots go down so deep in You, firmly and permanently grounded in the depths and wonder of Your love.  It's Your presence and Your love that make us shiny and beautiful!  We ask to be so consumed and drenched in Your love that it would make us stand out beautifully for Your glory Lord.  Lord we desire that You would manifest through us the sweet aroma of a true knowledge of You in every place we go!  Lord for our children and those you have placed under our sphere of influence, we ask that they would know what it means to truly live by our example.  We ask that they would not learn from us how to be white washed tombs!  LIVE through us please Lord!  Let Your Spirit break every chain in our hearts of idolatry and harlotry and religion so that we can leave a legacy of what it means to truly abide in Your sacrificial, undeserved, forgiving, faithful, kind, intimate, omnipotent, accepting, more than enough, agape love.  We ask to live in such a way that the ripple effects of Your love through us would continue for generations after us!  In Jesus' most Precious and Holy Name, amen.

Isaiah 61:1-4The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God,to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness,a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated;they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
I want to leave a legacy! How will they remember me?Did I choose to love?Did I point to You enough to make a mark on things?I want to leave an offering!A child of mercy and grace who blessed Your NameUnapologetically! And leave that kind of legacy...
Have a God day!

Day 43:  In Thee the Orphan Finds Mercy
youtube
Take some time to journal from your heart.  Be real with yourself and with the Lord.  Open your heart.  Be vulnerable and transparent.  Journal gratitude.  Confess your sins and repent and journal your desire to receive nourishment for your soul in this time in His precious word.  Then start the study below.
Hosea 14:3-4
Assyria will not save us,
We will not ride on horses
Nor will we say again, "Our god,'
To the work of our hands;
For in Thee the orphan finds mercy."
I will heal their apostasy,
I will love them freely,
For My anger has turned away from them.
Look up the keywords save, work, mercy, apostasy, and freely using http://www.studylight.org as I showed you on day 2.
Journal your thoughts.
Commentary from Expository Notes from Dr. Constable taken from www.studylight.org:
They should renounce confidence in Assyria (a synecdoche for political alliances) and war horses (military might) for their security and victory. They should also promise not to call their hand-made idols their gods (heterodox worship). And they should acknowledge that only from Him could vulnerable, dependent orphans such as themselves find mercy. They were orphans in that they had no other means of deliverance and support.
"If their hearts were broken, their relationship to God would be mended."
So in their repentance there was to be a renouncement of looking to anything or anyone else for help or security or victory.  They were also to relinquish every idol.  I think it's interesting the word "work" includes the idea of business pursuits.  They were to renounce their business pursuits as their god!  They were to consider themselves without help or hope or providence outside of the One true God.
When these steps of repentance and turning to the Lord in brokenness and complete dependence occur, the Lord's response is, "I will heal their apostasy (turning away, backsliding)!  I will love them freely (voluntarily)!  For My anger has turned away from them!
I have such a strong desire in my heart for myself and for the Christians in America to take these steps in their hearts individually and as a whole!
Lord please start with me.  It's Your kindness that leads me to repentance.  It's Your favor that I desire!  Hear my cry Lord, hear our cries!  Lord please turn my heart to You.  Turn our hearts back to You as a nation please Lord and unify us to seek You diligently as one!  We are without hope and without help apart from You.  Lord we renounce every idol.  Show us the things we have placed before You in our hearts and help us to relinquish them.  Please reign in power in our hearts and move through us to glorify Your Name!  Lord please have mercy on us.  Please bring healing to our hearts and to our land.
Spend some time in heart introspection.  Do you need to repent for making an idol out of your business pursuits or for looking to anything besides the Lord for your security and protection and victory?  Would you make some time today to pray for our nation to come to repentance over these things?
Prayer following Kindness by Chris Tomlin:
Lord,We stand here,As a desperate peopleHungry for the things of YouCome quiet the storms,That rage all around usSo that we hearThe passion thatBeats through Your heartSpirit put healing in our handsPut life in our wordsAnd drive a passionFor the lost deepIn the hearts of your peopleInhabit the praises of usYour childrenAnd father send us outWith a reckless passionDeliver us from evilAnd set a standard of unityTo break down wallsAnd to heal Your peopleUnity is the cry of your church, LordReconcile the children to the fathersAnd with forgiveness and mercyRush through the hearts of our landWe cry out our deep need for You, JesusOh God come in powerAnd bring glory to Your nameIn Jesus' Name, amen!
I love you friend

Lord Jesus we humble our hearts before You and we ask for discernment in Your scriptures today.  Thank You for giving them to us so we can know the best way for us to live!  We want to walk and live in a deep understanding of what we read in Your word today.  Please Lord let Your words move from the page into the depths of our hearts and souls and minds and let them change us and form us deeper into Your likeness.  Only You can give us understanding in Your word.  Only You can break through to our hearts.  We ask for wisdom and understanding for today's passage.  We pray Your blessing on this time in Your precious word.  In Jesus' precious and holy name, amen

In day 41 we talked about walking or living daily in a true understanding of the truths found in the book of Hosea.  I am not a bible scholar but I do have the Holy Spirit inside me to help me have understanding and so do you.  Take this lightly but this is what I interpret this passage to be saying from the scripture, context, and Hebrew root words listed above...
Turn back to Me beloved....please, turn around.  The way you are headed may seem right in your own eyes but if you are not walking in the fullness of My presence and blessing it is time to turn around.  You don't have to go looking for me.  You don't have to get clean and then come to me....just please...turn around, look to Me and ask Me to carry Your burdens.  Cast your burdens on Me because I care for you!  Those things that appear to offer satisfaction that aren't of Me are placing great heaviness and burdens on you and are making you weak.  I will gladly take the yoke of iniquity off of your neck if you just turn to me and ask me to.  Ask Me to take you by the hand and be everything to You.  Ask Me to capture your heart and marry you!  Ask me to carry you away from the trials and tribulations of this life and drench you in perfect peace!  Confess to Me all of the idols and all of the things you have looked to satisfy this heart yearning you have to be accepted and dearly loved.  I will remove the names and burdens of those idols as far as the east is from the west and throw them into the depths of the sea to where they will be remembered by you no more!  I will be the one to tell you that you are cherished and chosen and accepted and pleasant and.....most dearly loved.  I will be the One who will complete you and make you safe.  Please don't offer to Me any sacrifices of good works that are not from your heart.  I desire compassion.  I desire your heart and not the things you can offer me.  This is the sacrifice i want from you:  repentance from your heart.
I just encourage you to journal a prayer of true repentance and turning to the Lord from your heart.  And then take this prayer with you throughout each day and walk in it...
Have a God day!
Love, Tessa

Day 41:  Walk in Wisdom
youtube
Goodmorning Beloved!
Our journey through the book of Hosea is coming to a close soon...just a few more posts!  I've been waiting on the Lord and seeking His heart in how to wrap up this message of His beyond comprehension, beyond sufficient, agape, undeserved, sacrificial love.  My prayer is that as you move on from this you will walk securely in the knowledge of His love for you, being wise in knowing that you truly are accepted and dearly loved by your Redeemer who bought you for Himself at a great price.  I pray that you would know that you are pleasant to Him as you offer your heart fully, unhindered with all openness because you have been washed in the crimson flood.   I pray you would carry yourself day in and day out in a new way with your head held high knowing that you are cherished and chosen and you have nothing to fear as you abide in His love.  I love you dearly and I am so thankful for those the Lord brought alongside me in this heartfelt journey.  You are precious and honored in my site and I love you!
Isaiah 43:4 says "Since you are precious in My sight, Since you are honored and I love you, I will give other men in your place and other peoples in exchange for your life."
Read Hosea Chapter 14 and replace the words Israel and Ephraim with the word "Beloved".  We will overview the chapter today and focus on the ending of the chapter.  I hope this will put into context the previous verses we will study over the next few days.
Hosea 14:9  Whoever is wise, let him understand these things;  whoever is discerning, let him know them.  For the ways of the Lord are right, and the righteous will walk in them, but transgressors will stumble in them.
Look up the key words wise, understand, discerning, know, ways, right, walk, and stumble using http://www.studylight.org as I showed you on day 2 and write them in your journal :)
Take some time to meditate on what these words mean to you.  Journal your desire to walk in wisdom, understanding, righteousness, and discernment and not to stumble.
Lord I ask for wisdom, for intelligence, to be learned in the truths You have written for me in the book of Hosea.  I pray for my heart to understand, to perceive, to observe, to distinguish, to diligently consider the truth about how You see me and the desire You have for intimacy with me and for me to relinquish all my of idols.  I want to know, I want to be sure of this one thing - how much You love me and desire for me to truly know You in my heart.  I am trusting, I choose to believe that Your ways - Your road, journey, path, distance, course of life is right - straight, pleasing, and correct!  Lord Jesus I so desire to walk in Your ways - to go about day after day as I come and as I go, as I lead, as I proceed, as I live, as I die, may I be drenched in the assurance that I have chosen Your way and You are with me.  Please keep me from tottering and stumbling through the paths of darkness!  Give me eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart that understands Your love!  In Jesus' precious and holy name, amen.
Revelation 15:3
and sang the song of God's servant Moses and of the Lamb: "Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations.
Psalm 107:43Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the LORD.
Proverbs 10:29The way of the LORD is a refuge for the blameless, but it is the ruin of those who do evil.
Proverbs 4:18But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.
Beloved you are cherished, precious, and chosen!  I feel like this last chapter of Hosea is a summary of the message of the book:  a plea for Your heart!  I so desire for us to understand and discern this truth and to have it so deeply engraved on our heart that we never forget it!  Please keep todays study in your heart and as you go through today I encourage you to meditate on this word and pray for the fulfillment of this word in your heart:  wisdom.  The next few posts we will dive deep into verses 1-8.  You are very dear to me!
Have a God day!
All my love, Tessa

Day 40:  Safe
Henry Francis Lyte (1793-1847) and his wife Ann were faithful pastors of a little fishing town in Devonshire England, for 23 years. Although Henry's health was compromised, he worked tirelessly ministering to his parish, taking care of his family, and writing poems and hymns. In 1844, Henry was diagnosed with Tuberculosis. Over the next three years his physical condition deteriorated until finally on September 4, 1847, at the age of 54, he stood in the pulpit for the last time to deliver his farewell message.  That same afternoon, after taking a walk on the beach, Henry retired to his room. He emerged about an hour later with a written copy of Abide With Me. He left soon after for a trip to Italy, to get away from the cold, damp coastal weather. While en route to his destination, he mailed a revised copy of Abide With Me to his wife. A few days later while resting in a hotel on the French Riviera, Henry went home to be with Jesus. A fellow clergyman who was with Henry during his final hours reported that Henry's last words were Peace! Joy! Abide With Me was put to music by William H. Monk (1823-1889), and made its debut at Henry's memorial service.  (www.sharefaith.com)

v. 5-6 I cared for you in the wilderness, in the land of drought.  As they had their pasture, they became satisfied, and being satisfied, their heart became proud;  therefore, they forgot Me.

Lord I don't want to miss all that You have for me and the way You have paved for me by making for myself idols of desires that are not of You.  Purify Me of all uncleanness and anything that is not of You please.  Lord I have no safety, no salvation, no defense, no freedom, no victory, no wide open pasture apart from You.  Lord please abide with me.  Rescue me from myself and my pride!  I need Thy presence every passing hour!  I want to be satisfied only with You.  Help me to not live in excess of worldly things but only in excess of Your presence.  Please help my heart to abide with Thee today and to REMEMBER and not forget or cease to care about or ignore You.  You alone are my help!  Help of the helpless, O abide with me...In Jesus' precious and holy name, amen
Love, Tessa
Abide With Me
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee,Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away;change and decay in all around I see;O thou who changest not, abide with me.
I need thy presence every passing hour. What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?Who, like thyself, my guide and stay can be?Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
I fear no foe, with thee at hand to bless;ills have no weight, and tears not bitterness.Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?I triumph still, if thou abide with me.
Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes;shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Day 39:  Continually Pursuing the Wind or Waiting on the Lord?
youtube
Goodmorning :)
I've spent several days praying for discernment in this passage and seeking to understand it.  I encourage you to do the same!  It is fascinating reading about Jacob and Esau and the birthright and blessing and how the waves of their choices and circumstances are still affecting us today.  It is also interesting researching why Hosea repeatedly refers to Israel as Ephraim.  Even more than this though, if you have never spent time researching how the writings of the old testament addressing the Israelites literally apply to us spiritually as having been grafted into the blessing, I strongly encourage you to do that!  There is so much to glean from the bible and from the book of Hosea and even from this chapter!  In writing this study,  the strong desires of my heart are just to inspire an indepth and heartfelt personal study of God's word and of seeking His heart.  I don't claim to know everything about the book of Hosea but I love seeking understanding!  I don't claim to know everything about God but oh how I love seeking to know Him more!  Thank you for coming along with me in this journey!
In seeking to know the Lord more intimately through studying the book of Hosea, I feel like lately He has impressed on my heart how humility and a willingness to wait, daily kindness, and steadfast faithfullness are true markers of KNOWING HIM rather than a knowledge base of the book or of the bible for that matter.  So this morning...please just open wide your heart and not just your mind.  Still your heart and let Him speak....
Journal for awhile your desire to know the Lord personally and for Him to reveal His true character and His promises and His love to you.  Wait on Him this morning in His presence for a fresh revelation of who He is.  Confess any sin or any lies you may have been believing and ask for cleansing and restoration and then start the study below.
Today I want to encourage you to read all of Hosea Chapter 12 in your bible.  If you have time I encourage you to reference several commentaries on this chapter maybe over the next few days.  I read Clarke's commentary -http://www.studylight.org/commentaries/acc/view.cgi?bk=ho&ch=12&vs=1#1 and Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible -  http://www.studylight.org/commentaries/jfb/view.cgi?bk=ho&ch=12&vs=1#1 along with several others I found online.  You can reference these  by clicking the link or by going to http://www.studylight.org and looking up the key words as I showed you on Day 2 except instead of clicking on the individual words, click on the study tools icon above each verse.  Getting the context for today's study I believe will make the verses below even more meaningful :)
Hosea 12:1  Ephraim feeds on wind, And pursues the east wind continually...
wind - rûach - vain, empty thing (summarized definition)
continually - kôl
Brown-Driver-Brigg's Definitionall, the wholeall, the whole ofany, each, every, anythingtotality, everything
Hosea 12: 6  Therefore, return to your God, Observe kindness and justice, And wait for your God continually...
return - shûb
wait - qâvâh
Strong's Definition A primitive root; to turn back (hence, away) transitively or intransitively, literally or figuratively (not necessarily with the idea of return to the starting point); generally to retreat; often adverbially again: - ([break, build, circumcise, dig, do anything, do evil, feed, lay down, lie down, lodge, make, rejoice, send, take, weep]) again, (cause to) answer (+ again), in any case (wise), at all, averse, bring (again, back, home again), call [to mind], carry again (back), cease, X certainly, come again (back) X consider, + continually, convert, deliver (again), + deny, draw back, fetch home again, fro, get [oneself] (back) again, give (again), go again (back, home), [go] out, hinder, let, [see] more, needs, be past, pay, pervert, pull in again, put (again, up again), recall, recompense, recover, refresh, relieve, render (again), X repent, requite, rescue, restore, retrieve, (cause to, make to) return, reverse, reward, + say nay, send back, set again, slide back, still, X surely, take back (off), (cause to, make to) turn (again, self again, away, back, back again, backward, from, off), withdraw.
Brown-Driver-Brigg's Definition
to wait, look for, hope, expect                                waiting (participle)                                to wait or look eagerly for                                to lie in wait for                               to wait for, linger for                               to collect, bind together                               to be collected
continually - tâmı̂yd
Strong's Definition - From an unused root meaning to stretch; properly continuance (as indefinite extension); but used only (attributively as adjective) constant (or adverbially constantly); elliptically the regular (daily) sacrifice: - alway (-s), continual (employment, -ly), daily, ([n-]) ever (-more), perpetual.
I feel like my key word this week has been wait with an emphasis on seeking continual kindness and justice while I wait.  I'm a firstborn over achiever so this is not my natural inclination at all!  It definitely stretches me!   How cool though that the word return includes the idea of coming home!  The place of perfect peace and of rest in His presence, under HIs wing is the only place I feel at home.  It's easy for me to continually pursue the wind or empty, vain things and much of my life I have spent doing so.  I desire to instead come home and stay in complete submission to the Lord.  I desire to perpetually wait on Him meanwhile abiding in kindness and justice.  I encourage you to meditate on the word wait today as many times as you can think of it :)
Lord please continue to cultivate in me a heart that is continually waiting on You and only taking steps after Your lead.  Cultivate in me continual kindness and a heart that seeks justice for the oppressed.  Please open my eyes to see when I begin to chase after the wind!  Thank You.  I trust You to do more in my waiting than in my doing I could do...  In Jesus' precious and holy name, amen
Micah 6:8He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 7:7But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.
Psalm 130:4-6 But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope. My soul waits for the Lord More than the watchmen for the morning.
Have a God day!

Lord what can I say except thank You?  Thank You for not coming in wrath.  Thank You for Your great compassion that I don't deserve.  Thank You for opening Your heart wide open and loving me there in the deepest part of You.  Thank You that because of Your great love You made a way for me through sending Your Son as a sacrifice for my idolatry and harlotry.   I yearn for You to truly be exalted and lifted high and magnified in my life and for the idols to be gone!  I yearn for You to be on the throne of my heart.  In my inner woman, in the seat of all my emotions, in my soul I long to know You and to magnify You.  Lord we yearn for You.  We want to be bent on turning to You alone.  We want to find our counsel in You alone.  You alone are faithful!  We exalt You.  Change us and mold us, we are Yours.  In Jesus' Name, amen

Day 37:  He Leadeth Me
Goodmorning :)
Over the weekend I have been considering the way the Lord leads me on the right paths that He desires for me and how that compares to the way I lead my children and others the direction I want them to go.  In our verses today the Lord says He led them with bonds of love.  I love this!  I don't know a lot about horses but I was just thinking about the different ways you could try to lead a horse...maybe yanking them here or there or yelling at them while you pull them this way or that way.  I'm not sure how well that would work!  Or the better way would probably be to lovingly and kindly lead them with patience and affirmation and gently pulling their reigns and directing them on the right path...I'm so thankful that the Lord chooses to lead me with bonds of love in this way!  The song below has been one of my favorites for a long time and this version is probably by far the best one I have ever seen!  Go ahead and let it play :)

Have a God day!

Have a God day,
Love, Tessa

Day 35:  Drenched in Love and Courage
youtube
Good morning!
Thank You Jesus for waking me with waves of peace and mercy and love crashing over me!  Thank You Lord I praise You God!  Thank You for the gentle rain we had last night that helped me to lay down and sleep in peace.  Thank You for letting this timid little girl have courage to face another
day.  Thank You for making me brave!  Thank You that all of Your promises are true!  I love You Lord!  Jesus I pray for each dear friend reading this today Lord that You would take hold of their hearts and minds and set them free in every way but especially from fear.  I pray Your peace and love and mercy would crash over them in wave after wave.  I pray You would make them brave.  In Jesus' Name, amen
Take some time to journal from your heart and then start the study below.
Read Hosea 10:5-15 in your bibles
Hosea 10:12-14  Sow with a view to righteousness,Reap in accordance with kindness;Break up your fallow ground,For it is time to seek the LordUntil He comes to rain righteousness on you.You have plowed wickedness, you have reaped injustice,You have eaten the fruit of lies.Because you have trusted in your way, in your numerous warriors,Therefore a tumult will arise among your people,And all your fortresses will be destroyed,
Look up the key words sow, righteousness, reap, kindness, time, fallow ground, seek, comes, rain, trusted, way, numerous, and warriors using http://www.studylight.org as I showed you on day 2 and write down the Hebrew words and definitions that stand out to you in your journal.
Journal your thoughts and prayers for a while as you feel lead...
I think it is interesting how much the Lord isn't a fan of us trusting or having our confidence in or being bold in or finding our security in our own strength or in our weapons or our "numerous warriors".  But when we put our trust and confidence and boldness and security in Him alone, we have a strong refuge and we can dwell securely.  Have you ever heard of or studied the 6 day war?  In 1967 Israel overwhelmingly defeated it's enemies gaining back the territory of the Holy Land for the first time in thousands of years in only 6 days leaving itself unscathed.  It was a miracle.  It was a modern day example of what happens when the battle is the Lords.  I encourage you to search for and watch a few youtube videos on the war if you aren't familiar with it.
Psalm 20:6-8
Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some boast in chariots and some in horses, but we will boast in the name of the LORD, our God. They have bowed down and fallen, but we have risen and stood upright.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous!  Do not tremble or be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
The above verse was Sarah's bible verse last week and it ended up showing up everywhere and has been our whole families theme song for the week!  We got to do homeschool at a coffee shop last week and here is a cute video of her singing it :)
I feel like in my heart that it is time for me to seek the Lord wholeheartedly.  I am trying to break up the hard ground in my heart that is stuck in it's way and reluctant to change.  Just because I am inclined to be a certain (fearful and timid) way doesn't mean that it is ok or that it is pleasing to the Lord.  The only way I can bear fruit of kindness and courage is if Christ is truly dwelling in my heart and flowing out of me.  I have to die to myself first for this to happen.
I was asked last night what my favorite quote was and it's this, "If I lose my life, I gain everything."   Paul said it and Shane and Shane wrote a song about it and it has become the story of my life.
As a nation and as believer's, I'm praying that our trust would be in the Lord and nothing else.  It is time for us to seek the Lord wholeheartedly and to break up the fallow ground of our hard hearts.  We need the seed of our Messiah Jesus Christ to be planted deep in us so that we can be overflowing with His kindness and courage.
Lord I pray that YOUR LOVE in wave after wave would crash over my friends today!  I pray you would drench them in Your promises that You are with them!  I pray that starting in the deepest place You would put seeds of courage and righteousness and kindness in their hearts.  Lord I pray for them and for me for our trust to not be in our own way or in our numerous warriors but in YOU ALONE...Lord please let peace and blessing be upon our land as our faith is in You.....In Jesus' Name, amen
Have a God day!

Day 34:  Mere Words
Good morning friends.
Lord I humble my heart before You this morning.  You are my desire and my delight.  All of my springs are in You.  You alone make me to dwell in safety.  Your unrelenting, all encompassing, deeper than the ocean, wider than the sea's, sacrificial, agape love is more than enough for me.  This morning Lord we all want to KNOW You more.  We want to KNOW Your perfect peace in the middle of the storm.  We want to be held securely under Your wing and find refuge for our souls there.  We open wide our hearts to You this morning.  We offer up our heart and not religion.  We seek You from the deepest place in us.  Earnestly we pursue You and desire You.  Thank You Jesus that You earnestly desire me and that You earnestly pursue me and when I stumble You surround me and help me and I am not hurled headlong.  Thank You Jesus.  Thank You Lord.  Thank You for fellowship in the body of Christ.  Thank You for every person who has shared this journey through the book of Hosea with me.  Jesus please drench them in a true knowledge of You and of Your love this morning.  Please meet with us here.  In Your precious and holy name I pray, amen.
Journal for a while as you feel lead.  Maybe take some time to sing along with the song and just worship the Lord and fix your eyes on Him.  Repent and turn your heart completely to Him and then start the study below.
Hosea 10:1-4 Israel is a luxuriant vine;  He produces fruit for himself.  The more his fruit, The more altars he made;  The richer his land, the better he made the sacred pillars.  Their heart is faithless;  Now they must bear their guilt.  The Lord will break down their altars and destroy their sacred pillars.  Surely now they will say, "We have no king, For we do not revere the Lord.  As for the king, what can he do for us?  They speak mere words, With worthless oaths they make covenants;  And judgment sprouts like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.
Look up the key words luxuriant, vine, richer, heart, faithless, revere, words, and worthless using http://www.studylight.org as I showed you on day 2.  Write down the Hebrew words and definitions that stand out to you.
Journal your thoughts and the things the Lord speaks to your heart.  Pray for family and friends.  Please pray for our nation today for the hearts of the Christians in America to seek the Lord earnestly and for the lost to be saved.
At first glance the passage we studied today seems kind of depressing but I see LIFE bursting out of it.  I am thankful and I rejoice that the Lord isn't ok with me saying I'm a "Christian" and letting it just be mere words and emptiness and vanity!  Thank You God that a faithless, empty, false, legalistic, white washed tomb religion is what You despise.  Open our eyes to SEE and to KNOW the desires of Your heart.  That You desire faithfulness in our hearts.  That even when we have an abundance of fruit that we would not use our earnings for idolatry and harlotry.  God I beg You to break down and destroy and devastate any sacred pillars or altars in my heart and life that are not of You!  I want more of You God!  I don't want to offer up mere words, I want to be used by You to embrace the ones in need and to share the gospel.  I want to revere You alone Oh Lord.
If you have never surrendered your life to Christ or if you have turned away from your faith I beg you to be reconciled to God.  Surrender your heart, confess your sins and turn to the Lord with your heart and invite Him to have full reign in your heart and in your life.  Let Him drench you in perfect peace that is not swayed with circumstance and that is beyond all understanding.  I would love to help you with this - email me!
Have a perfect peace, steadfast mind, God day

Day 33:  Trust in the Lord by Amanda Cofield
youtube
“Trust in the Lord and do not rely on your own understanding; think about HIM in all your ways and He will guide you on the right paths…” (Prv.3:5-8)
My mom was so frustrated because with all her strength she could not get that bench seat out of the back of our Ford minivan. “Let’s pray, Mom?” I said as a little girl with much hope. I can only imagine the mix of emotions my Mother might have been feeling when she heard those words come out of my mouth, but her response was “Okay.” Sure enough on the first try after our prayer the bench seat came out!
Sitting in the bath tub alone as a young girl, I remember thinking I saw something dart across the room next to me. I still can grasp bits of the feelings I felt in that moment. Fear. All I knew was to pray. Actually, not just pray, but sing “Jesus Jesus” at the top of my lungs. Within moments the fear was gone. Just gone. In an instant. PEACE.
I remember a moment in high school praying on my pink daybed, “There has to be more to life than this? I want to know you more!”
In 2006, I married a man of God named Jake Cofield. It’s been 8 years of a greater journey than I could ever have imagined.  I am sure he prayed many prayers our first year of marriage. I clearly remember not wanting to read my Bible in the mornings because he was. However, I admired him more than anyone I knew. I was seeking God. I loved God. I was obedient the best I knew how, but I felt stuck. I continued to pray, “There has to be more to life than this? I want to know you more!”
By His grace my story begins with child like faith and it matured as I grew. However, here was my dilemma:  How does a woman married to a beautiful man, with a stable income, food on the table, great family and friends, receive an answer to her prayer “There has to be more to life than this?”       “I want to know you more!”
My pastor has been reminding our congregation about Luke 8. It talks about three ways Satan robs people from knowing Jesus: 1.) Satan robs you the moment you hear God’s word 2.) You receive God’s word, but it does not take root and fails under persecution (death, evil in the world, etc) 3.) You receive God’s word but are apathetic and cannot grow because you are choked by life’s worries, riches, pleasures and comfort.
Here’s my revelation: I was being choked. No matter how different your story may be, I am sure we will find common ground on the issues of our heart.
I did not TRUST Jesus more than this world! Maybe there were times I did equally and maybe at times I even did a little more, but the truth is I often did not at all. God seemed too far away to fully trust.
The Lord stirred in Jake and I’s heart to leave our life in Lubbock, TX in 2009 and serve with a ministry called YWAM for about a year. The mission ended up being more of God’s love and power capturing us than anything else. We were exposed to things that radically shook the boxes we placed God in.
While serving in Santiago, Chile with YWAM, I started reading a book called The Heavenly Man. It’s about a man who tangibly experiences God’s supernatural ways over and over again. I quickly closed the book because I became so jealous! I would pray, God, if you can do this why not me!?
This was His whisper that penetrated deep within me,
Amanda, I am jealous for YOU! Why not ME? Let go of religion and what PEOPLE say or think. Claim My promises, My hope and rebuke lies! No matter how foolish or illogical it may seem this is where YOU WILL FIND ME!
One night as I laid on top of my sleeping bag, sweating, spiders and creatures were crawling in the wood slats above me, on a medal frame bed with no mattress just to keep me off the floor, starring out the open window into the desert of Argentina, I was consumed by how many stars were in the sky and I asked the God of the Universe,
Is all I ever knew and believed really true? Jesus, are you really there? Really? How can I really know?
In that moment, a gust of wind tore through the window and hit my face with such refreshment and then FEAR. What just happened? No way! Not possible!  I was terrified to even think that it was even possible for the Lord to do that. I hesitated, but in disbelief I asked again. Instantly in that moment a gust of wind tore in and hit my face again! As I stared into the sky, tears filled my eyes as I grasped the true meaning of Fearing the Lord. No way was I going to ask again. I had been in the desert for days and there had never been a breeze of any kind. Nor was there one after. I knew I encountered the God of the Universe and in that moment He spoke the truth of all I ever knew into the pit of my soul.
He is REAL and He is more near than you could ever imagine!
While we were in the desert of Argentina, the Lord led our team to pray specifically for physical rain and His spiritual reign for the people there. He continually affirmed our request by putting specific scriptures, songs, pictures in our minds and prayers in the hearts for all our team members. It had not rained in months and the people were weary. The last morning we were there we all woke in expectation! God, you can do it and if you are going to this is Your last chance! Our team looked outside and there was not one grey cloud in the sky.  Are you serious, Lord? You can so do this! I know I am not making this stuff up. You affirmed this prayer in every person on our team and created a gust of wind out of nothing just for me! I started preparing myself for disappointment, if He chose not to bring physical rain. Searching for peace and TRUST created more jealousy within me. Why not me? Why can't I experience you like the stories from the book The Heavenly Man?
We packed our bags, walked outside to start our last hike to visit families who lived there and out of nowhere it POURED!
POURED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All I could hear was my Father in Heaven saying,
I am more jealous for you, Amanda, more than you could ever be for me.
Let me be honest real quick as you think about what you just read, I don’t know why this is part of my story. I never deserved it. However, this is just PART of my story and the truth is He has a beautiful story for you too.
When we stop thinking everything is coincidence and have hope like a little girl asking God to free a bench seat in the back of a minivan or meet her unexpected fears while bathing, WE WILL EXPERIENCE THE PRESENCE OF OUR CREATOR, GOD, FATHER, SAVIOR, FRIEND AND KING!
Do not rely on your own understanding in life. Trust Him! He will lead you on right paths! (Prv. 3:5-6)
“God requires our obedience before our understanding.”- Christine Caine, Facebook
Maybe you’re asking how? The truth is I am too. I ask every day. I have to be disciplined to hear what He says every day, to trust and obey without always understanding! No matter how beautiful this story is I cannot live on it forever.
I can ONLY live on Him FOREVER!
Be urgent to fill your mind with TRUTH (scripture, sermons, songs, people who know Jesus). Claim truths in scriptures and fight lies! Talk to Jesus as if He is in the chair across from you and then listen. What is on your heart? What sticks out in scripture? What happens in each day that could be designed just for you? Claim it!
You will FIND Jesus simply because you were created for HIM and by Him! Your purpose is found in HIS PRESENCE, TO KNOW HIS LOVE FOR YOU, AND TO LOVE HIM!!!
With so much love,
Amanda
Amanda has been a dear friend of mine since college.  Our husbands are super close friends and we were even roommates for awhile.  We live far apart but the Lord has orchestrated it so that our paths have crossed at least once a year for the past few years.  Each time we spend time together it is so sweet and our conversation is drenched in Jesus.  Last time we were visiting in the spring we were sharing the recent stirring of our hearts.  Mine was starting this study and Amanda was being lead to help with a ministry redeeming girls who had been caught up in sex trafficking in Austin.  See www.redeemedministries.com.  They are collecting used guitar strings for the ladies who are set free to use to make bracelets as a source of income - see the video below and have a God day!

Day 32:  Break our Hearts
youtube
Take some time to quiet your heart before the Lord and journal as you feel lead and then start the study below.
Today I encourage you to read Ch. 9 on your own and look up different commentaries and key words and cross references as you feel lead.  You can look up commentaries using http://www.studylight.org by clicking the small "study tools" icon above each verse in the same place you would click on the individual words to get the Hebrew definitions.  I use http://www.biblehub.com to cross-reference.
Reading this chapter honestly leaves me speechless.  I wish I could seriously just skip over it.  It is speaking of profound anger and punishment for our idolatry and harlotry and stubbornness and not listening to the Lord.  There are some very very hurtful verses in this passage and I don't claim to understand them.  What I do understand is that I don't want to be under the wrath of God.  God is love and yes very much loves us and loves our children more than we could ever imagine.  At the same time He doesn't mess around when it comes to our sin and hard hearts and disobedience.
Break our hearts, Oh God!  Break our hearts!  For the sin in our lives, for the sin in our land, break our hearts!  We cry out!  We need Your help!  Come back to our land!  We confess, we've lived in sin....  Please show Your power once again!
Love, Tessa

Day 31:  Altars for Palaces
youtube
Go ahead and let the music begin to play and take a minute to journal your thankfulness and gratitude for all of the blessings in your life.  This morning I invite you to focus some extra time on confession of sin and asking for the Lord to purify your heart.
Read Hosea Ch. 8 in your bible.  Write down any verses that stand out to you.
Hosea 8:14 - For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces;  And Judah has multiplied fortified cities, but I will send a fire on its cities that it may consume its palatial dwellings.
Look up the key word forgotten using http://www.studylight.org as I showed you on Day 2 :)
Try putting America in place of Israel and the things that we may have put before God as a country in the place of built palaces.
How do you wish this part of the verse could read?  Maybe...."For America has remembered her Maker and has tore down idols and built altars to the Lord"?
Try putting your name in place of Israel and the things that you may have put before God personally in the place of built palaces.  Then try rewriting the verse how you wish it read with your name.
I was reading these verses from Jer. 18 below over the weekend because Jer. 17:27 was a cross reference to the above verse and I just kept reading.  I was praying and asking the Lord to open the eyes and hearts of all of us in America to this when I felt Him whisper in my ear...maybe I want to fulfill this prayer partly through you...maybe you should share this."  So here goes...
"At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it; if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it. Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or plant it; if it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it".....Oh turn back, each of you from his evil way, and reform your ways and your deeds. "But they will say, It's hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.....'For My people have forgotten Me, They burn incense to worthless gods and they have stumbled from their ways, From the ancient paths, To walk in bypaths, not on a highway. To make their land a desolation.
I personally have been very concerned about everything that is going on overseas.  I feel like the Lord has shown me that the best weapon I have is Him.  Obviously this is true but do we believe it?  I am striving to stop worrying about it and start tearing down the idols or palaces in my own life and remembering the Lord.  I am striving to pray as often as I can think of it for our country to remember the Lord and to turn their hearts fully to Him again.  My heart is also heavy for the victims overseas and our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted even to the point of death.  It is not a time to forget the Lord and build palaces individually or as a nation.  It is time to remember the Lord and build altars and to pray with all of our hearts.
The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace because he trusts in You.  Isaiah 26:3
Love, Tessa
