"On her new album, Taylor Swift would like us to know that this was an act. She wants us to know that she’s a big weirdo, a crazy-passionate self-saboteur who has come to resent the gilded prison of overwhelming fame. She’s worked so hard and done so much, and as a result, millions of people feel entitled to tut-tut her life choices. That’s the message that I’m taking from The Tortured Poets Department, anyway. That’s a pretty interesting message, but it would be more interesting if it came attached to some bangers. (…) With some exceptions, the songs on The Tortured Poets Department are simply not strong enough to support the weight of all that fucking storyline. It’s starting to feel like the lore is all we have. It’s not enough."

Wanda, "Bei niemand anders" (live @ Wiener Stadthalle)

Vampire Weekend, "Capricorn"
Capricorn
The year that you were born
Finished fast
And the next one wasn't yours
Too old for dyin' young
Too young to live alone
Sifting through centuries
For moments of your own
We are so back, baby.

adrianne lenker, "sadness as a gift"
leaning on the windowsill
you could write me someday and i bet you will
we could see the sadness as a gift and still
the seasons go so fast
thinking that this one was gonna last

MGMT, "Nothing to Declare"
Nothing to declare
Not in the bags under my eyes
I can see you standing there
But still there’s nothing to reply
The world’s my fin de claire
My Spanish castle in the sky
I can see it floating there
But still there’s nothing to define

Twenty-Three of '23
I have been varying levels of ill for pretty much the entire second half of 2023, so in a surprising turn of events a year that had my Blur boys release a fantastic new album plus me seeing them live at Wembley Stadium will still have to be classified as "yeah, this sucked". ///
You in a bath on the phone, tellin' somebody
That maybe they're better off leavin'
Than stayin' in it alone
When you cried at the beach and recovered in seconds
And said, "Everything's fine," but I knew that it wasn't
Then you stayed out of reach of me for almost a year
I keep what I can of you
Split-second glimpses and snapshots and sounds
You in my New Order t-shirt
Holdin' a cat and a glass of beer
I flicker through
I carry them with me like drugs in a pocket

Molly Nilsson, “A Song They Won’t Be Playing On The Radio”
With the wind on my back and the sun in my face
I'll be walking the path, I'll be falling from grace
Go where no one's been before
Like a song they won't be playing on the radio
You won't be seeing on a TV show
I heard my life be told
