You can now customize emoji reactions on web & desktop. Click your profile and go into the edit account menu to access the emoji panel. Using the panel, you can map any emoji to the numbers 1 to 9. Whether it is unicorns or the poop emoji, show your friends how you really feel. Custom Emoji Reactions gives you control on how you express yourself through reactions while you are in a Here room with your friends.

It is now easier to start a 1:1 conversation with your friends on Here. You can now start a DM with people on your friends list by clicking on their profile when youāre in a Here room.
šļøĀ Here Room Links Open Directly on the Desktop App
Clicking on a Here room link will now open rooms directly on the desktop app if you have it installed on your computer. Get into rooms and see your friends more quickly!
You can also right click on rooms from your web browser to choose rooms that you want to open on the desktop app.

A space for (almost) limitless creativity,Ā HereĀ lets you create rooms \ that let you fully express yourselves. But sometimes, we need a little inspiration. Welcome to Here Spotlight, a series of interviews with some of our favorite artists and creatives out in the world.
Hi Alabaster, could you tell us a bit about yourself? Where are you in the world and what does your day to day look like?
Hi Here, I live in Los Angeles. Depending on what or where Iām working, I might work from home one day on drawings and comics, or go to my workshop where I make things out of concrete and recycled plastic, tile, and wood.
How did you get into drawing and making art!
Iāve always done it. My parents have comics I made when I was 3, before I could even write (I dictated and my Dad did the lettering).
Tell us a little bit about the room template that you made! What inspired it?
My house and my plants! I have about 200 plants in my apartment. Also, I love cinderblocks. I use them to make shelving or as plant pedestals a lot.
What are some of the projects that you were super excited to work on so far?
Ahhh, I always have like 6 or 7 projects Iām working on. Iām trying to develop a painting practice; like the drawings I do but way bigger. I have a work space that is not my house for the first time ever so Iām exploring bigger, messier work, which is so fun. In 2021 I serialized a 60 page comic on instagram, posting 2 pages every other day, and that was really exciting, reading peopleās feedback as the comic was made.
Who are some of your favorite artists on the internet right now?
Because Iāve been teaching myself how to recycle plastic into art, Iām excited to have made internet-friends with cooltrashnet and funky_alchemy who are making innovative work out of similar materials and processes.
What are some of the things you would tell your younger self? Are there anything that you would like to know earlier in your life as an artist?
Actually nothing! Looking back, I think Iāve learned and grown and evolved in ways Iām proud of and also feel like they've taken the right amount of time. If I could redo my 20s, Iād take myself dancing more. I was too shy to do that alone until my 30s.
What are some of the anxieties that you have around being an artist and being online?
Being very visible online opens me up to a lot of stressful situations. I used to enjoy interacting with anyone who wanted to message me but Iāve had to turn those features off, which is unfortunate. I want people to enjoy and relate to my work but I try to stay completely away from pandering. It can be really easy to let that seep into your work, and then you are making work you know will get shared instead of work that is meaningful to you. Most of the paid work I get is from people seeing my art on social media, so this is difficult to avoid. I wind up having to sacrifice money for integrity, and the United States is a very harsh place in which to make this choice. But most online spaces are free, so the barrier for entry to start making and posting art and interacting with other artists is low.
What takes the most of your time in your day to day?
I spend way too much time poking and prodding at my plants when I should be working
What are you some of the things that you are working on that youāre excited about right now?
Iāve taken a small break from comics to explore material art but I think Iām going to return to comics soon.
Are there anything that you are looking forward to for the coming year?
Just hoping for a time when going out and being around other people feels safe again, it wonāt be this year. Maybe next year
Whatās a song that you listen to almost everyday lately?
I donāt know about every day haha, but the song I dropped into my room template is Inspector Norse by Todd Terje, and is an enduring favorite of mine. If you like dance music, you can check out my Spotify playlists, search for my name :)

Every month, The Here Community team will review and update room templates at the beginning of every month. If your room is accepted, you will be able to find it on the āCommunity Createdā section from the template selector on Here.
The creator of the templates that get used the most every month will get a chance to win a $100 gift card.

Some ideas that could be helpful to inspire you
Give it a purpose: Be clear with what the room is for (study sessions, movie nights, game nights, or just a space to hang out)

Get weird, weāre here for it: Donāt be afraid to get weird or silly.
Rules & Restrictions
No hate speech or offensive content will be allowed.
Rooms submitted that use existing templates on Here will not be considered.
You must be an active Here community member to participate and receive reward.
An active community member can only win up to 3 gift cards maximum in one calendar year.
You must be the room owner and creator of the template that you are submitting.
You must provide a valid email address that is associated with your Here account.

Hi Poggy, could you tell us a bit about yourself? Where are you in the world and how are you spending your summer so far?
Hello hello Iām a filipino illustrator. I live up in the Appalachian Mountains, so Iāve been spending my summers enjoying the breezy mountain weather. Iāve been getting into gardening so if Iām not on the computer Iām probably in my garden hanging out with the bugs and slugs.
Why do you love frogs so much? We love frogs too.
Frogs are squishy little boops that vibe in the woods. Whatās not to love about them. Frogs are both cozy yet chaotic creatures. They are also SO TINY, and I love smol things. The feeling of being so small in a big world is something I relate to on a visceral level.
Tell us a little bit about the room template that you made!
So the room template I made I call it Dreamy Picnic, itās a cozy space for studying, focusing, and getting things organized. Itās a lovely picnic scene where you can add your own snacks and drinks. I also put relaxing Minecraft lofi bops because video game music always helps me concentrate.
Who are some of your favorite artists on the internet right now?
I have so many favorite artists itās hard to choose which ones I love the most. Iām always inspired by @leighellexson paintings. @wooqiartās colorful worlds. @jisoupyās comics.
What are some of your biggest challenges and anxieties as an online creator?
Content creation is a marathon that never ends. You are constantly performing nonstop creating content and burn out is inevitable. Itās a constant mental gymnastics to keep your head above water. Itās very easy to get wrapped up in the numbers and the metrics of how well a posts is performing. It becomes unhealthy and toxic to base your artistic self worth to a like button.
What inspires you? Who are some of your favorite artists online right now?
The idea that right now in 2022 you have access to so many creative tools to make any idea a reality is what truly inspires me. A decade ago, it was much harder to get into art or animation. Thereās so many tutorials online and so many resources to start your own creative project.
Do you find inspiration from being online? Where are some of your favorite places to spend time online?
Being online unlocks a ton of possibilities. You can make a podcast, an indie game, a YouTube channel, a silly Tiktok, or others. I love the idea that you get to create and make whatever you want and share it with so many people. I have found a lot of likeminded friends through the internet.
Iāve been really into live streaming lately so I love playing video games with others. I also like hanging out in virtual chat spaces to concentrate and focus while drawing. My favorites have been watching anime episodes with friends on here.fm and other platforms.
Do you have a story of a meaningful creative or personal friendship in your life?
One of my closest friends I met in college Hats (@humblefeels) has been my creative rock. No matter how many ridiculous crafty ideas I have she has always supported me. I come up with a TON of ideas, too many ideas, ideas on top of ideas. It can definitely exhaust my friends who hear me nonstop chatter about my infinite amount of obsessions. Hats is the best and listens and encourages all my wildest art ideas.
What are some books or movies that inspire you? How did said book or movie influence your work or how you think about your creative work?
There hasnāt been a specific movie or book that has impacted my art. Video games have greatly influenced my art a lot. I play a lot of cozy games most notably Animal Crossing New Horizon. Itās such a wholesome game that lets me be creative without touching my pencil. It has influenced my art in more ways than I can imagine. I found so many creative friends through playing Animal Crossing. I love building worlds and making up fantasy landscapes and animal crossing definitely lets your imagination run wild.
What are you some of the things that you are working on that youāre excited about right now?
I am really close to launching a shop update for POGPALS.COM! I have a lot of new art prints that are in the works and Iām getting into apparel designs. Itās been a dream of mine to put my little froggy on a hoodie or shirt.
How do you stay hopeful?
My coping mechanism starter pack is: Frog memes, Kirby Memes, Naps, Snacks, More naps.
What are some of the songs that you canāt get out of your head right now?
ChriSSy waKE uP!! I donāT liKE thiS.. CHRISSY WAKEUP!!! hey HEY HELLLOO (this lives rent free in my head)

Hi anon!
We are figuring out better ways for you to connect with your friends in a fun way. Team Here is tiny and we are figuring ways to make both public rooms and private rooms work really well. Public Rooms have been in beta for a while and we had to take it down to make room for some upcoming changes on the platform.
In the words of our co-founder, Jesse:
"We're a very weird, very experimental product - and stuff changes pretty frequently, big and small - including making hard decisions about launching and un-launching features. I do think that discovery of new rooms and people will probably reappear in Here at some point in the future, in a much better form. But this change helps us focus on making the in-room experience incredible, and bring newer and better features to you much faster."

Quickly invite and join your friends in Here Rooms through DM Calling. When you invite a friend into a room from the Invite Button, it will call them through DMs.

Easily access your friendsā profiles by simply clicking on their camera. This way you can stay up to date with their bio, interests, profile pictures, and other cool stuff your friends are up to.

Delete messages in DMs
Restore deleted GIFs, Images, and Text by clicking undelete in the chat box of a room
