And I watched.
I watched as the fabric fibers of our souls intertwined and created the blanket of us.

I wrapped the blanket around us, to keep us warm and protected from the world around us.
From my mom, your dad, our friends, our sport, our everything. Our. It was ours.
I wrapped it so tightly around us that our chests felt heavy, our foreheads thumped and our legs shook.
I wrapped it so tightly around us, in an effort to save us, that I suffocated us. I suffocated us.
I killed us with the very same threads that had made us. The red, the white, the blue, the green, the gray and the yellow.
My much sharper fibers had killed the soft wildness of your curly ones, and the wildness of yours had drowned the quickness of my own.
We killed each other and ripped our blanket apart like we were wild animals.
And I watched it all, shivering.
