Since Ao3 has temporarily disabled guest comments due to very mean and pornographic bots, now is a very good time for 1) readers with Ao3 accounts to comment on the fics they love and cherish to make up for those who cannot leave guest comments and 2) readers without Ao3 accounts to join the waitlist and make an account!
Due to an influx of abusive spam comments on April 21, 2024, we temporarily disabled all guest comments across the site. We have now re-enabled the ability to leave guest comments, but if you comment while not logged into an account, you may encounter a verification page that checks that you are not a bot. We are also working on other ways to help reduce spam, including a small change to the default comment settings on the work posting form that will be rolled out soon.

🤍: Which character is not as morally bad as everyone else seems to think?
MAKO. Most of his actions in the love triangle are dumb 18 traumatised boy shit. He absolutely did not intend to hurt anyone, honestly I don't think he didn't intend to do anything, he barely knew what was happening. And intentions do matter. And I do think people were hurt in the process but a moral failing? Mako needs some therapy and to learn to process his feelings, not punishment or a grovelling apology to Korra and Asami whatever people advocate.
Suyin was right for trying to kill kuvira lol. Kuvira was trying to take over a stable state, it was not humanitarian and didn't benefit the citizens of the Earth Kingdom in any way, it was ideology over common sense, and it wasn't even good ideology.
🖤: Which character is not as morally good as everyone else seems to think?
Kuvira. No, Kuvira, you can't just decided the earth empire is owed Republic City one day and ignore all the people living there.
Look i don't like most of the villains but they're villains.
Maybeeee Bolin? But only in the context when people use Bolin to bash Mako. I like Bolin as a character, I do think it's important to remind ppl that canonically kissed someone without their consent, forcibly, and though I tend to ignore book 2 Bolin as it is just poorly written and thought through, and that's my main reasoning for ignoring it, if we want to bring up Mako's misdeeds all the time we should bring up Bolin's as well.
What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?
Hmmmmmmmm. I am trying to think of something ppl always say about Percy, mostly because I surround myself in Percy centric circles. Anyone who says hes only mean or cold or uncaring is wrong, and is watching the show wrong.
I will say I am not fond of the woobie characterisation. Not saying I don't indulge in it sometimes, I love a bit of whump, but he's not an uwu baby. He is an arsehole. He is a bit of a dick. He is snobby.
ALSO i saw a fic that called Vex a greed bitch who deserved to die, and Vex being greedy is considered as a defining characteristic in general in the fandom. No. Vex is greedy, but also fairly giving. It's more money anxiety and thriftiness, than pure greed, Vex bought those slave boys to free them. Other than the broom thing, I can't think of a time where it can be considered that Vex made a decision out of pure greed, it is not a regularly occurring characteristic for her to be greedy at the expense of others.
Which character who is commonly headcanoned as queer doesn't seem queer to you?
Grog only likes women for sureeeee. My straight ally king. But honestly I think the rest of VM are queer otherwise and it's fairly canon in some version sooo I don't have anything substantial.
Maybe Cassandra de Rolo, with a lesbian HC? But I more consider her demi-ace who falls in love with Kynan. There is little canon evidence for this other than I think it's cool and I like it.
can’t criticize plastic surgery as an institution because it’s none of your business if a woman wants to “fix” her insecurities. can’t criticize the makeup industry or beauty standards because some women feel good when they shave and wear makeup. can’t bring up the challenges women face in the workplace because some women want to be stay at home wives instead of working. everything a woman does is automatically feminist and we shouldn’t stop to think about the context surrounding her actions because that would be misogynistic. here’s what i had for girl dinner. according to my girl math the barbie movie was a revolutionary piece of feminist media. i may not show it but i feel the life slowly draining from me day by day.
I don't know why I tend to draw Percy the least than the rest of Vox Machina? He's fun to draw, even if figuring out collars and coats is hard. One of these days I'll try to take a leaf out of Hugo Pratt's book, he strikes me as a face who'd do well with Corto Maltese's nose and jaw.
