The car pulled up to the departures terminal. Inside was quiet, the only noise the sound of Tetris coming from a GameBoy in the backseat. York Silk looked up at the two women in the front seat, uncomfortable with the silence emanating from them.
The doors opened, and the two got out. Ms. Silk and Nagomi McDaniel, formerly of the Hawaii Fridays.
Nagomi silently thanked the kendo armor she wore, it providing a shield to hide the tears that were welling up In her eyes.
"You know...we can still try, you know?"
Ms. Silk took McDaniel's hand into hers, bonking into the grate that covered McDaniel's face.
She kissed the top of the helmet, and Nagomi desperately wished that she could kiss back.
Getting her bags out of the trunk, she hugged Ms. Silk one last time, then walked off.
Blaseball was never one to wait for love, after all.
