Though considering it wasn’t your magic to begin with, and that you only got this far by converting other people’s memories of you into fuel... it’s surprising you got this far at ALL! Don’t wanna say that’s what you get when your primary source of magic is the hat you stumbled upon several years ago after its original owner met her mysterious end... but... well... anyway... it’s a good thing Veronica still thinks you’re pretty neat!

Name: Nina Sahashi 

Weapon: magically-charged wires 

Patron Youkai: spider 

Nina - "subject 0" - was the first of the magically-damaged girls to come to the attention of Metamorphosis. Indeed, it was her older sister, a brilliant but somewhat fringe scientist, who contacted the organization to try to get funding for her attempts to cure Nina's magical wasting-away disease. That research was quickly co-opted by Metamorphosis to serve their goal of developing artificial magical girls, of which Nina was the first. Despite these circumstances, Nina still tries to live as normal a high school life as possible. It helps that she's very book-smart and observant, nearly on par with her older sister, so she keeps up with school easily despite missing half her classes. She's even gotten to know a few actual magical girls, though that makes it ever harder to keep her connection with Metamorphosis a secret.

Name: Kirika Shirogane

Weapon: metal claws

Patron Youkai: rattlesnake

Kirika is Metamorphosis's little assassin girl. Her magical injury proved convenient for the organization, as it affected her emotions, leaving her with little empathy and even less fear. She's a bit of a rebel, though - it can be hard to convince her to follow orders, but that is made up for by the fact that the orders she does follow are carried out with silent efficiency. Having the other test subject girls around is starting to change Kirika, though, reminding her that there's more to life than working for a questionable organization.

Name: Marisel Botello

Weapon: high-pressure water/pain jets

Youkai: Pacific cormorant

Marisel is the oldest of the group of magically-damaged girls that Metamorphosis has been experimenting on. By the time they found and approached her, she had already mostly resigned herself to living with the result of her magic-related mishap, the loss of her color vision. An art enthusiast and talented painter, Marisel was happy when Metamorphosis gave her the chance to restore her sight, yet she remains the most unsure among the girls of the methods used to do that. Still, she is willing to fight for the group that is helping her and her newfound friends, though she'll usually let one of them deal with the close-range fighting while she attacks from a distance.

Name: Brooklyn Wright

Weapon: Mechanically-augmented arms & legs

Patron Youkai: dragonfly

A budding gymnast until an accident (a magical battle in which she was collateral damage) paralyzed her legs, Brooklyn has been doing everything she can since then to recapture any fraction of the experience of flying gracefully through the air. When she heard about a project that might restore the function in her legs, she was in, no questions asked. Never mind that this project involved several questionable implants and the literal use of magic - it meant Brooklyn could soar again, and that's all she cared about. With her new augmentations, she bounces almost effortlessly between floor and ceiling, able to strike from any direction at those who Metamorphosis tells her are her enemies.

Name: Clarissa Jian

Weapon: Missiles, many more missiles than necessary

Dreamscape: a giant radar display, black and neon, with rows of file cabinets and weapons lockers

Clarissa, as the daughter of a military family, moved to new bases every couple of years throughout her childhood and learned fairly quickly not to get too attached to any place or person. That, combined with her father's emphasis on preparedness (and frequent backpacking trips into the woods), drilled an attitude of self-reliance into Clarissa. It's with that attitude that she approaches the magical world, always seeking to identify the next threat so she can deal with it before it becomes a problem to anyone else. It's all a mission, nothing more. Yet as much as Clarissa tells herself that, as much as she knows that she's probably going to move again in a year or so, she can't help but grow a bit attached to her new island home and her energetic (but tactically incompetent) teammates.

Name: Nadia Glory

Class: Heart

Weapon: Seafoam Sash

Dreamscape: Her personal houseboat, currently moored at the place where sea meets sky

A laidback beachbum who loves her island and its people. A transplant from the mainland, she really took to island life thanks in no small part to her trusted friend, Alisa. In dreams, she wields her sash to defeat nightmares with her graceful water magic and to heal her allies. In her waking hours she works part-time at the Surf Shack where she's liable to give impromptu tours of the island's sights to any tourists that might stop by. She dislikes deadlines and is an avid amateur astronomer.

Name: Marika Atwood

Class: Ojou-sama (& later on Expert)

Weapon: Herself. She becomes a giant robot with extendable arms, deployable drones, spring-propelled legs, an oral cavity furnace, and two derpy twintails

Dreamscape: a 'minecraft-esque' world of cubes which can be reconfigured in all sorts of ways to create new structures and inventions. Many such creations are scattered haphazardly around the dreamscape but the center is home to a dazzling castle wherein Marika resides.

A creative genius, Marika spends hours toiling away at various inventions within her makeshift laboratory (her bedroom). She is immensely curious about the way the world works and loves exploring exactly what makes everything 'tick'! However her wealthy heritage forces her to constantly temper her love for science- her parents and their servants constantly regale her over what the proper etiquette is for a person of her station. Yet apart from this strict upbringing her parents tend to be far too busy to spend much time with Marika, leading her to stew in feelings of loneliness and uncertainty at her predetermined path in life. Her close friendship with Clarissa is a shining light in her life that allows her to feel the joy of spontaneity again. Whether they are getting lost together in the forest, creating makeshift walkie talkies out of scraps, or going on magical adventures, Marika is always ready to sneak out through her bathroom window and go dive into the world!

Name: Kasumi Ichigaya

Class: Spiritual

Weapon: hag stones, geodesic domes, and laser light shows

Dreamscape: an amusement park full of roller coasters, bouncy castles, and funnel cake! just stay away from the ominous pile of Easter Island heads in the center…

While absent minded and inattentive in the real world, Kasumi feels most at home navigating dreamscapes, exploring the collective unconscious, and staying hip on all the magical gossip… well… all the gossip that the mysterious volcanic rocks on the Island of Kauai are privy to… it’s a 50-50 toss up whether they share a magical secret about the world or a dubious piece of trivia… Don’t let her tall and looming exterior fool you, on the inside she’s an earnest and awkward bundle of curiosity. Once she’s fixated on a mystery or started pursuing an interesting magical phenomenon, nothing will stand between her and discovery. Even with the whole team trying to keep her out of trouble she usually manages to stumble headlong into danger… don’t worry she’ll make it up to them all one day…

Weapon: a living serpent-scarf

Youkai: Chotu the River Serpent, one of San Miki's ancient guardian youkai

Shiani grew up carrying a lot of expectations - her father, who built the Medvedov family business up from a small firm into a sprawling conglomerate of contractors, expected the same from her. Shiani responded fairly well to the pressure, eventually becoming president of her school's student council, a role that she takes seriously and performs with confidence. Magic is a different story entirely. Having been dragged into the world of magical girls thanks to her father's involvement with a shady organization, Shiani is now trying to find some semblance of order in her new life. It doesn't help that Chotu is among the most cryptic of youkai, given to turning every question back on the questioner. Still, Shiani will handle it. She always does.
