The Wicker Man (1973) & Midsommar (2019)
Both interesting takes on pagan cults. I like both but neither is particularly scary. Both are weird and surprising but neither is particularly horrifying.

I love this breakdow but we expanded the subgenres a bit. This is mostly for Halloween-time when we do our Horror movie bracket so that we can ensure that we pick movies that are actually suited to go up against each other.
Tumblr media
We also combined Gore with Killer as most of the gore movies are actually slashers and very few gore films are of interest to us anyway. We also collapsed the “Zombie” sub-genre above and instead allowed for differentiation in the movie villain field. We try to be as true to the movie as possible but in some cases (especially psychological films) it can be hard to choose a subgenre.

Satanic (2014) - Snooze. I would def pass on this one. It has potential/a fresh storyline but most of the actors are not great and as it goes in it get worse and worse. Way too slow at times.
