also i think spop does a great job at showing how people struggle to think rationally in the face of their trauma. like, i couldnt understand why catra would activate the portal despite everyone telling her otherwise, but she'd been *badly* hurt prior to that scene and all she knew was that the rebellion, her enemies, would "lose" if she pulled the switch, so, regardless of the cost, she pulled it

similarly, hordak tries to send catra to beast island when she lies about losing shadow weaver. as far as things that have happened in the horde this isn't so catastrophic, but he insists on it, even arguing with entrapta when she defends catra's place in the horde. i think the only reason he changes his mind is partially because he decides the crimson waste would be an equally fitting punishment. but despite the fact that catra is the only one keeping the horde running, his trauma at being cast out by prime has led him to value absolute loyalty, and he won't keep her around

you can see it in adora too!! she struggles greatly to remember her own inherent value as a person like, all the time, *especially* when shadow weaver is around

and glimmer, after losing angella and having to be responsible for her kingdom and the rebellion, hurting and not used to taking personal responsibility, lashes out and blames adora when things get heated

entrapta too, on beast island, where she's fully aware that her life is in danger as long as she stays there, has to practically be dragged out, because she can't face integrating back into society, having friends again when she thinks she totally failed at being a friend

i just think the show does a great job of explaining why its characters do the things they do. like even if it doesn't make logical sense, there's emotional reasoning for everything, and i think that's neat.

People need to realize and accept that Aromantic people can have problems relating to societies expectations for sex and Asexuals can have problems relating to societies expectations for romance.

When so much of people's advocacy for sex relies on "sex with love" it can alienate aros from sex positive or sex favorable spaces because their lack of romantic love towards a sexual partner is seen as predatory.

when so much of people's idea of romance includes a sexual relationship it can alienate aces from romantic relationships because so many potential partners will refuse to date them if sex isn't on he table because not having sex is often conflated with "not truly loving your romantic partner"

Favorable aspecs face this because their lack of attraction is seen as the main issue, them being open to a romantic or sexual relationship doesn't matter if their partner feels that "they're not attracted to me/don't really love me"

repulsed aspecs face this because their partners may feel that their repulsion is a negative thing because they may be want a relationship that includes what the aspec is repulsed by (an example is a relationship without kissing because a repulsed aspec may be repulsed by the idea)

the fact is that someones aspec identity can effect many kinds of relationships in their life - this is often first showcased as family or friends asking if an aspec "doesn't love friends or family then" as if it's a bad thing that could end friendship or strain a familial relationship. People assume an aroallo's identity must be focused around the fact that they have sex without love (because people love over sexualizing and labeling anyone who has sex in an non-allocishet way as "adult") instead of there maybe being some focus on their aromantic identity. People assume alloace's identity must be focused around how they can still love and they must be hopeless romantics or "wholesome" romantics (because people love initializing those who don't have sex) instead of maybe there being some focus on their asexual identity.

Basically I think the more we accept that aros and aces can have similar problems in their own unique ways the better off we'll be at dismantling them and the more we could probably help and support each other. Yes, aros and aces have their own separate problems; but it's not bad to point out the ones that overlap and add them into discussions because the more view points we have in a discussion the better we can make things for everyone who may be effected in one way or another.

So you often see queer people joking around going "xyz made me gay" as like a compliment towards celebrities or fictional characters or whatever but imagine how funny that would be if us aros and aces started doing that. Like as an insult. This person is so uncharismatic they made me stop wanting to fuck altogether

One thing i find so funny is that people think they are so progressive for accepting same sex couples, but they still can't wrap their head around the fact that maybe not everyone feels romantic and/or sexual attraction

having your favorite character be a side character is the worst thing because you’ll watch an episode of a show purely because the b-plot involves your fav but then have to suffer through the a-plot which despite being mildly interesting bores you half to death between those absolutely amazing sections when your fav is on screen for a few minutes at a time
