does making fursuits bring in good money

Honestly it depends. I make maybe $600 per fursuit head. Different makers will charge different prices based on popularity/experience. But supplies are real expensive (mainly fabrics) so a significant portion of the sale is just that.

Also taxes are a huge pain and will take a big portion. (Luckily I don't make enough to have to file haha)

Also it takes a reallyyyy long time. I make maybe one fursuit head a month on top of being a full time student
