The news about Rhaena/Nettles legit managed to erode all the excitement I had about season two during the past few weeks in a matter of seconds.
Nettles is canonically the only non-Targ dragonrider, her story and arc is so important in challenging the beliefs about dragons and Targaryens and blood magic incest that exist in Westeros and among the Targaryens, why would the writers look at such a character and decided to mesh her storyline with Rhaena’s?? Are they just so uncreative they couldn’t figure out something for Rhaena to do in the Vale?? Or can this show only handle no more than three black characters, all the while they continue on cooking up new storylines and arcs for the white characters that don’t exist in the book??

i do think mysaria could have been one of the most fascinating characters conceptually i wish they even pretended to give a fuck about her in the show. living breathing representation of the cyclical rot of the targaryen dynasty and the way they use and abuse people especially smallfolk especially women and cast them out when they’re done. can’t have daemon not look cool though i guess.

first, I want to say that I love your fic, it’s great and fleshed out brilliantly! second, I am curious to know if you plan on writing more for hotd once this fic is done? specifically for laena bc there are no stories about her 😭 just curious!! Hope all is well with you!

I definitely plan to write more hotd fic once The Water Between Us is finished! I have a couple of older one-shot ideas that have been sitting on the backburner, but I'm hoping the season 2 will bring some new inspiration! I'd love to explore Laena (and Laenor!) since their absence haunts the narrative of TWBU.
If you are looking for more Velaryon content, especially with Laena, I'd recommend From the Waves & it's sequel Comes Leviathan's Maw by Revna14 on Ao3. It explores an AU where Daemon & Rhaenyra die, but Laenor and Laena live, kicking off around the time of the funeral at Driftmark.
But yes! I plan to write more hotd and Velaryon-centric stuff. I also think trying to write a more romance-focused fic about the Dragon Twins would be fun. Rhaena and Baela have so much potential with Aegon/Aemond/Daeron/Jace and all the other eligible bachelors of the Dance.
