Actually who gave Noah Kahan the right to sum up my whole personality by saying in love with being noticed; afraid of being seen.

the thing about masters of the air… it’s so well done and you feel the highs and lows and you see the emotions on their faces and it’s a masterpiece
what hits harder is remembering that this a true story and true men and women and they really went through this together and that’s what makes my chest hurt cause its not just a good show and good story, it’s someone’s real story and yeah I have feelings

people being mad about characters being "killed off" in an hbo (apple) war tv show are genuinely baffling to me like you are aware that this is based on very real battles and very real people right like they weren't "killed off" so much as they were killed in action because they were real people who were killed in a real war and it would be extremely uncomfortable and weird to rewrite history and desensitise and diminish the horror and loss of life in said war

Newspaper clippings with Welsh's & Sledge's wedding announcements
Came across a couple more of the boys' wedding announcements in newspaper archives!
One is for Harry Welsh's 1945 wedding to *the* Kitty Grogan. Remember in BoB how Harry talks about holding onto his reserve parachute for Kitty to ultimately make into a wedding dress? My favorite detail: "The bride...wore a white bridal gown fashioned from a parachute used by the bridegroom overseas." How full-circle.

Then I also found an article reporting Eugene Sledge's 1952 marriage to Jeanne Arceneaux, also of Mobile. Looks like his dad served as his best man (their scenes together in the pacific were so heartbreakingly beautiful. How lovely to think that his dad was there with him at the aisle, just as he was there to comfort and support him upon his return from the front; to mark this event that showed that Eugene had found someone, some reason to be excited for the future after the pain of coming home and grappling with what he had witnessed and experienced). My poor little heart...

I was reading a recap of The Pacific episode 10 ("Home") by Emily St. James from when the show first premiered and omg this excerpt:
"But what we really can never understand is that these men were young once, too, and they, in many cases, gave that up.
You will get older, and I will too, and the things we wish to block out will grow brighter and brighter, until we're approaching death and thinking back on what was and what could have been. But those guys were young and old all at once, men who spent the rest of their lives thinking that one step, one second of difference could have changed everything, men who spent the rest of their lives either racing from that fact or trying to block it out. They tried to find ways to push that aside as they could, seeking joy where they could find it - in the pleasures of a summer's day or the pretty blue of their lover's eyes - but the world forgot, as it does, and the men they were became a series of dusty memories, tucked away in an attic somewhere. The Pacific is not a time machine, not exactly, but it is a sort of window. They can be young again, and the world can be as it was. We go into the attic. We open the box. We remember."

Heard on ACN Election Night coverage
"Three minutes!"
"This is New York control, coming back from D.C."
"001...check in with New York control."
[Characteristic Don Keefer shoulder touch]
"Let's go around the room."
"Arizona House. Colorado House. Virginia House."
"Game changer states, critical states..."
"I'm not seeing Washington."
"North Virginia, Florida, Ohio..."
"There you are!"
"McCain won Kentucky by 16."
"Graphics?" "Ready."
"What's the order of that first whip-around?"
"Field?" "Standing."
"One, two, three."
"Rehearsing two months. Just like rehearsal."
"60 seconds to VTR."
"Nothing's gone right in rehearsal." "That's defeatist, man."
"I'll throw it to D.C. That's how you'll know you're talking too long."
"The fetus?" "Defeatist. Defeat-ist."
"You can't hit on the candidate!"
"If Virginia senate is going red..."
"Yes, you are."
"There's water right there." "Clear the set please!" "Thank you."
"Standby roll-in." "Standing."
"Will?" "Right here." "You ready?"
"No, I need another half hour."

Looking back at childhood photos and I broke the fourth wall so damn often.
Literally. I walked in that regard so Wilhelm from Young Royals could run.
