as much as i agree that it is irritating when female ccs are only acknowledged in the context of "sibling" duos, i will make an exception for gem and grian because. have you ever watched them interact. the bit in hc10 where gem keeps yelling "PIVOT" at grian and he goes "i don't want to pivot :(" is peak sibling behavior and i stand by that as an older brother myself. the pico park videos with them + impulse and skizz also cemented this for me. just two coparents and their demon spawn children. is this anything

my brother was talking about how he felt like last life had a significant darker undertone compared to the other life series installments and it got me thinking.
bdubs' boogeyman kill on grian in session 1 really sets the tone for what's to come from both of their povs + etho's. 3rd life was a lot more lighthearted (from most povs anyway. looking at you desertduo later sessions) and i think that in part is because it was a brand new concept and there wasn't a clear pattern or structure
last life has a more established framework, plus the implementation of the boogeyman AND pearl's introduction to the series, and i think that allowed it to be a lot more grim, even compared to later seasons. though to be fair i think it really depends on what pov you watch (in my case ive watched grian and scott's povs and the former felt a bit sillier in comparison to the latter).
in conclusion my brother cooked and i wanted to get my thoughts about it into words
