I just want to remind everyone how affordable buying food from indigenous tribes is. I live in a major city and I was able to purchase and ship (15) pounds of fish from back home to myself for cheaper than I could buy it from a grocery store here in the city. Yeah, shipping has its own environmental factors but I was able to support an indigenous owned business while also getting my groceries at a lesser cost. (Buying in bulk is always a good idea if you’re planning on having something shipped to you)

employment is a blessing and a curse in multiple ways, a blessing because it offers money and social connection — but only if you’re lucky, because the curse of it might just be that you don’t make enough money (with acknowledgment that some money is still better than none) to live in any meaningful way, or maybe your coworkers hate you and you’re trapped in a negative social hell because you need money. it could be laborious and unfulfilling to the point where it depresses you or physically breaks you down. or you could just be stuck at the bottom of the chain with no ability to move up while others see increases of pay for no reason other than the fact that they talk more than you or had more life experiences to put on their resume.
it’s all just an inherently broken system

i just gotta have my weekly “i am frustrated w employed people” moment. because i just feel so isolated in every conversation, i feel envious of their income and ability to live an independent life and buy things. if thats u I truly do need you to recognize and be conscientious of the fact that even though there is much wrong with the environment and expectations of employment, still that it is a privilege to be able to participate in it, because it means you at least have that base level of worth to society so that you can participate in it as designed. ppl like me cannot.
#as someone who was unemployed for a long time it’s still hard for me to unlearn all the things you’d have to do to get by while unemployed#you can always tell when someone has never been in that position and has always found employment without issue#if there’s one thing i’ve noticed is that in workplaces class and poverty is such a touchy subject and makes people uncomfortable af#but like anyone who has been unemployed should know how the horror of it lingers even years after#it sure is shitty as hell that capitalism has managed to make exploitation via labor a privilege all in order to keep control over people
