Inspired by “Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian” by Guido Reni. I always wanted to draw something based on an old painting. Sorry, this one is really rough. I wanted to do something fast and not very detailed. Maybe one day I’ll come back to it and render it properly.

Last reading: The Little Mermaid & Other Stories, by Andersen, new RBA edition.

Ever since I read the original version of The Little Mermaid in Arina Tanemura's 'Full Moon' manga, I have been obsessed with fairy tales, and I have a soft spot for Andersen.

I did remember Andersen's works (both originals and versions of popular ones) to be sadder and darker than other tales written for children, but not even my memory could prepare me to the amount of corpses, skeletons and death present in this edition. I can't wait for the 2nd tome!
