Interview, Entertainment Tonight, 1985
Nice man: “Why does The Firm not perform any songs from Bad Company and Led Zeppelin on the tour?”
“It would be stupid of us – having been off the road for so long to come back and sort of establish yourself as a nostalgia, entity. Would have been stupid. Neither of us could have done that, really.”
"Once you got into a tour, I think there’s a lot of pressure off the road with all the sort of business aspects and the actual playing, of course. If you’re just down to playing the music, it would be, you know, be utopia, really."
'Radioactive', The Firm, 1985.
Jimmy wore his beautiful butterfly jacket for the shoot.

Backstage of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 12. January 1995.
So. This is backstage and the band with friends are listening to Ahmet Ertegün's introduction droning on before Arrowsmith steps forward to induct Led Zeppelin into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Robert: “Shh-shh!”
Ahmet: “They were not only inventing the most important rock and roll music of their time. But they were also inventing the new rock and roll lifestyle.”
Robert: “Oh no...!”
Jimmy: “Hahah! That’s correct!”
Ahmet: “...Apart from that, this turning includes that to remain. Nor it doesn’t mean that..."
Robert: “You're chanting!”
Ahmet: “...revolutionary music at a time of organisation... American blues and R&B. They refused to limit their imagination, drawing on rock, reggae, rockabilly, funk, Arabic, and Indian influence...”
Jason: “Can I have your cigarette?”
Ahmet: “...to create unique music, unprecedented power and grace...”
Jason: "Here."
Jimmy: “Oh, cheers.”
Ahmet: “...of exhilarating contrast. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Jonesy, Bonzo. They were playing true world music before they began to chart on Billboard.”
Jimmy: “Hm!”
Ahmet: “They toured the world and they went everywhere. Aaand there were fast midnight dinner parties..."
Robert: “Hahaha...!”
Jonesy: “We were heroic...”
Ahmet: “...uuuhh groupies...”
Robert: “Thanks Jonesy.”
Ahmet: “...jazz chorus swapping, groupies...”
Joe Perry: “He said groupies twice...”
Ahmet: “...protection from imaginary devil imposed by Richard Cole, groupies... TV sets thrown out the window and groupies...”
Jonesy: “Groupies thrown out the window...TV sets...”
Ahmet: “...ranked hotel rooms, Phil Carson jokes... and Earl McGrath. Shoes thrown out the windows and groupies...”
“Five times groupies.”
Robert: “I thought he was making a mistake.”
Ahmet: “Stories that we cannot tell, and groupies... and the great Peter Grant...”
Willie Nelson: “Six times...” (They’re all counting now.)
Ahmet: “...sitting like Buddha watching it all. Great days I’ll never forget. A time in my life I’ll treasure. The music they made is the music of today. Their influence today on young musicians is greater than ever. It is through their music that many of the young people are discovering the old blues’ pioneer. We all came through the tragic death of John Bonham."
Ahmet: "I am proud to have been associated with this extraordinary band who are more revered today than ever. Whose music is timeless, and whose members like my brothers. To induct Led Zeppelin into the ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’, I would like to present Joe Perry and Steven Tyler of Arrowsmith.”
(Last minute changes.)
Jimmy: “...coming in. I-I can do that.”
Robert: “In ‘The Levee Breaks’?”
Jimmy: “Yeah, I can do that.”
Robert: “In the tuning?”
Jimmy. “You’ll have to get a little bit up from before but not much.”
Robert: “Okay.”
Jimmy: “...since we’re all gonna be standing tuning, right?”
Robert: “You should explain it...” (points at Jason Bonham.)
Jimmy: “I’ll just go. I’ll just go for it.”
“...started up, right?”
Jimmy: “Well, to a degree.”
Robert: “But can we do something else after that? That’s a bit more standard and popular?”
Jason: “Sure whatever you want.”
Jimmy: “Yeah..”
Robert: “This ‘Night Flight’ or something like that?"
Robert: “Is there anything you can do that we know that we can do?”
Jimmy: “Who? Me?”
Robert: “You and I starting off and everybody joins in?”
Jimmy: “Yeah. Yeah, there is, yeah.”
Robert: “Okay, but give us a clue what it is!”
Jason: “Tell us beforehand.”
Robert kisses a baffled Jimmy.
Jimmy: “No. I’m not gonna tell ya!”
Jimmy: “What are you talking about now?”
Jonesy: “Train. Train.”
Robert: “Why don't we start with that? That is a bit more structured?”
Jimmy: “Not still with me! Hahahaha!”
Jonesy explaining a lot of intricate stuff that Jimmy totally understands.
Jimmy: “Yeah sure, I’ll start it, mate. Just...there’s no problem.”

10th of August, 1966. Green's Pavilion Manitou Beach, Detroit, USA .
Jimmy performed with The Yardbirds. He struggled a bit with the non-existent hairdresser, who insisted on giving him extensions.
Fear not.
As soon as Jimmy discovered them, he cut them off again just in time and none were the wiser.
But wouldn't it have been sweet? :)

Nice Man: "Robert Plant and Jimmy Page."
Jimmy: "Good evening."
Nice Man: "We are the same birth year..."
Jimmy: "Really?"
But that bloke looks like he's only in his mid thirties. I'm confused...
Robert: "Spring chickens as we call it in England."
Nice Lady: "What does that mean?"
Robert: "It means in the beginning of the year. Everything starts to grow, the first born, it’s optimistic. And so when people get old... like these two guys (Jimmy and the Nice Man), we call them spring chickens."
Jimmy: "Mhm..."
Nice Lady: “Mr. Plant, you’re 46, I understand?”
Robert: "36."
Jimmy: Giggles.
Nice Lady: “You look so very young!”
Jimmy: “He was 26 yesterday."
Nice Man: "66 next year?”
Robert: "They always do this to blonds."
Jimmy: "I’m 1000 years old, but I’m sure our dear friend here isn’t."
No. He just looks 35, doesn't he?
These people are sweet, but we never really talked about the music... what did we talk about again?
And then they played 'Stairway To Heaven' and it was beautiful.

Jimmy Page interview regarding the remastering of Led Zeppelin music to digital.
Nice man: "Do you think that your experiences with The Yardbirds were necessary to make Led Zeppelin the band they were?"
JP: "Yeah absolutely. I had created so many riffs and parts for songs..."
"... that when The Yardbirds came to an end, I would use the material in Led Zeppelin."
Nice Man: "How do you come up with such a riff?"
JP: "Where do they come from? If I knew that I would be very rich... tihi!"
JP: "They just come from your imagination."

Yardbirds, Heart Full of Soul - late 1966
Foot stomping twins Dreja and Page.
Yummy guitar work in this video. Here is a close up.
These two blokes took dancing lessons together (nah - probably not :) )
However, when Jimmy asked if Chris Dreja wanted to join his new band, Dreja turned down the opportunity to become Led Zeppelin's bassist. Thanks to John Baldwin's wife, Baldwin got the bass gig in stead.
Chris was happy to just take photographs - like this one (1971) - of the shiny new band.
Meanwhile, liddle Relf is demonstrating that he's literally The Yardbirds' front man even though the most interesting action in the entire film is performed by his band mates.

Interview, 'Walking Into Clarksdale', 1998
"Robert and I have put on a really good catalogue of music together in the past and so. You know, we’re measured and judged by that. So you know, I’ll stand and be judged by that."
"I don’t know if I’m improved. I don’t think I’ve deteriorated... I’m basically, I’ve still got the same approach that I’ve had all the way through, really. Which is eh, relying on inspiration, spontaneity, and making something out of that, you know. "
"Some of the tracks that are on there is like one guitar that’s all there is. One guitar take all the way through. Some are done in one take. Sometimes it's full stop. Second take that’s the one. That’s all. And it is what it is. And after that it’s more a question of like as far as the colours and filigree. It’s more a question of what you don’t play than what you do that can be equally as important, you know."
"Suddenly having like the freedom coming back to like the four piece, it’s been great! Wonderful, ‘cause you can change things round every night. Scare each other to death. It’s great!"

Montreux Casino, August 7th, 1971
Jimmy: "We're staying here in Montreux for two nights. Two shows... On the 19th we're heading to Vancouver to start our seventh American tour within three years."
I: "You're busy?"
Jimmy: "Um... yes?"
I: "Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?"
Jonesy: "Well... yeah, we're not really doing any interviews. So we can just... I don't know... chat?"
Jimmy: "We're writing on new material. But then we're always writing. We carry our tapes on tour."
I: "Can I have a sneak peak to some of your new stuff?"
Jimmy: "Nah..."
I: "Oh..."
Jimmy: "I recently had one of my guitars stolen."
I: "I'm not stealing your guitar. Mr. Page."
Jimmy: "Still hurts..."
"Hey, Robert. Will you sign this?"
Robert: "Sure."
"It's... for someone else."
Robert: "Uhu... Not like you already have five yourself."
"Never mind... Hey, Jonesy? Will you sign this?"
"Atta Girls."
