James Augustine Joyce, author of Ulysses and Finnegans Wake,
was born in February 1882 in Dublin City.
He was born between two worlds and two ages - the Age of Faith, in which men brought rabbits out of a hat, and the Age of Science, in which they bring habits out of a rat.
Faced by this dilemma, Joyce's answer was enigmatic and inclusive. He was a traditionalist and a revolutionary. He was the most devout literary craftsman of his century; yet he was the playboy of the Western world. He had one subject only - himself; and one setting - his native city: yet he made himself the measure of mankind, and he made Dublin the mirror and manifold of the world.

ANDY IRVINE - IRISH FOLK CLUB MUNICH - 08/05/23
The Theater im Fraunhofer was packed to the rafters and beyond for an evening full of great song, music and a hint of nostalgia.
Andy, who was doing the last date on a 37-day tour, gave it his all and the audience responded enthusiastically with demands for multiple encores.
Lord & Lady Rantapine, who usually open the IFCM shows on accordion & fiddle were indisposed since the good Lady had sprained her wrist severely but the good Lord did his best dispensing financial and medical advice in his own inimitable fashion. He was mildly applauded.
A wonderful evening which will be repeated in 2024.
true IFCM fans have already started booking seats.
