Today's song is "One Man One Bone" (1990) by Bruce Fowler
Tumblr media
Review:
I feel like I should have been able to predict from the title that this was just one long trombone solo, but oh well, I was so intrigued by the prospect of a man with only one bone in his body.
Anyways I don't know any music theory so I feel like my thoughts here are a little sparse. I think the part of this song I like the best is at around the 1:40 mark when the rhythm picks up a little more speed. Over all: something very atmospheric about this trombone.
Extra thoughts:
I am so endeared by the album name "Ants Can Count", like yes I'm sure they can buddy:'-)

Today's song is "Only Now" (2007) by Nomonic
Tumblr media
Review:
This kind of metal reminds me a lot of the stuff I used to listen to when I was younger! Something quite nostlagic about it actually, hehe:-)
Anyways the guitar in this one is sick, especially in the beginning and the lighter background melody at around the 1 minute mark. I generally just really like the instrumentals in this one! Good drums (especially towards the end) and a just solid vibe.
Even if I think the vocals are a bit middling I still fucking ADORE the transistions around the 1:50 mark. The screaming and instrumentels just hits there.
Extra thoughts:
"Chasing Firetrucks" is such a good album name. What's it supposed to mean? No idea but it certainly does fit.

Today's song is "Boogie Woogie" (2008) by Janusz Podrazik
Tumblr media
Review:
Probably the most ominous song titled Boogie Woogie, especially towards the end. Very atmospheric. I do like it, I just don't quite feel like I know how to describe it:-)
Extra thoughts:
I can tell you that the vibes for this spotify page is simultaneously strange and a little funny
Tumblr media
Especially with these two being the first songs I saw.

Today's song is "Crazy Rhythm" (2006) by Christof Sänger
Tumblr media
Review:
Some very pleasant quick jazz with piano as the focus for today:-) I really loved this song's fast paced melody! Even though I thought it'd be much more dramatic based on the opening chord but then it turned out to be rather light hearted.
Extra thoughts:
People who understand piano will have to tell me how crazy this rhythm actually is. All I can tell is that it is fast...

Today's song is "Dancing You Home" (2004) by Mello-D & The Rados
Tumblr media
Review:
I really, really like the instrumentals here! Especially at the start! Simple but effective use of drums and a bit of guitar and saxophone:-) This song just really has some chill vibes all around, like the distorted scattered vocals harmonising for the chorus is honestly so good.
Extra thoughts:
The chorus is. stuck. in my head. now.

Today's song is "Do for Me" (2011) by Pop Javali
Tumblr media
Review:
I really really like the little opening melody of this song! The instrumentation is pretty good too even if the vocals aren't quite my thing:-) I especially enjoyed the bit of guitar around the 2:40 mark.
Extra thoughts:
This song really reminds me of Guitar Hero for some reason. It's just got the vibes y'know.

Today's song is "I Love My Argentine" (1953) by Pearl Bailey
[No album cover found for the Say "Si-Si" album]
Review:
A well known singer but a less known song today! But Pearl Bailey's lovely vocals combined with the wonderful jazz brass instrumentation does make it fully worth listening to:-) I mean, the whole song just oozes charm! Some great jazz right here!
Extra thoughts:
I really wonder why I the album cover wasn't there... like I didn't even know you could upload stuff into spotify without an album cover.

Today's song is "Youpie boogie" (1977) by Bernard Bigo
Tumblr media
Review:
Some very good acoustic guitar today! Like I may not know music theory and I may be more of a fan of electric than acoustic but this was really nice:-) The little melody change at around the 1 minute mark was especially delightful.
Extra thoughts:
Y'know I wasn't sure what to expect from the song title but actually, yes, this song is exactly a youpie boogie.

Today's song is "Be Careful" (2010) by Akiva Lane
Tumblr media
Review:
A lot of scatting in this one:-) Overall very pleasant combination of piano and simple drums too! Vibe wise it's the kind of song I feel like would play in some of the older pixar movies.
Extra thoughts:
I swear I know what this sub genre of jazz is called but I can't remember it for the life of me right now!

Today's song is "First Flight Home (Phone Recording)" (1999) by Debs McCoy
Tumblr media
Review:
Some very enjoyable acoustic guitar in this one:-) There's something hypnotic about the signer's vocals as well. Simultaneously very soft yet with more depth than you'd initially expect from the high note they sing in.
Extra thoughts:
I am honestly impressed with the amount of guitars on display in this album cover.

Today's song is "Sound in the Air" (2010) by Franzy Scanner
Tumblr media
Review:
Hell yeah techno time!! Had a lot of fun with this song and bopping along to it:-) The transition at around the 1:30 mark was particularly tasty, and I really enjoyed the change at around 3:30 too.
I actually quite like the very "plink plonky" (forgive my lack of music terminology) beats in this song! Gives it a very fun vibe:-)
Extra thoughts:
This one's got BIG rhythm game energy.

Today's song is "A Summer Place" (1991) by Christian
Tumblr media
Review:
Love the use of keyboard in this one! Very of its time and super pleasant:-) And even if I can't understand the (what I think is) Italian lyrics the harmonies and instrumentals combined gives this song a dreamy vibe. Found myself swaying along and everything:-)
Extra thoughts:
Seems like Christian also made a career out of German children's music besides his own Italian stuff because his spotify page is FILLED with very popular kid's music. An interesting combo to say the least, hehe.

Today's song is "Uplift" (1985) by Paul Nash (featuring Tom Harell, Michael Cochrane, Michele Hendricks)
Tumblr media
Review:
Relaxing acoustic guitar is a very suitable summary for this song. Simple but a nice listen even if I don't have too much to say here:-)
Extra thoughts:
No false advertisement here, this song is a bit of an uplift:-)

Today's song is "I'm love with the girls" (2008) by Les Bondage
Tumblr media
Review:
Really like the opening guitar in this one! The solo at the 1:50 mark isn't half bad either. I think when the background vocals harmonise is a nice subtle touch as well:-)
Not much else to say but this song is, in fact, love with the girls (I'm charmed by the broken grammar in case you couldn't tell)
Extra thoughts:
I don't know why the image is so small.......

Today's song is "Midnight Special" (2004) by Michael Fell
Tumblr media
Review:
Some very chill, jazzy music with a bit of harmonica(?) today:-) I think the instrumentals work very well together and even leave room for the less typically jazzy harmonica to take the lead better than I anticipated. Enjoyed it more than I expected to be honest.
Extra thoughts:
Gives off the vibe of a lazy day, and as a person that very much needs a lazy day, I found this song pretty dang relaxing:-)

Today's song is "Skin Don't You Know Me" (2013) by Hogbitch
Tumblr media
Review:
Finally we're back to some rock!!
I love the force of the beginning and ending of this song. Amd oh man the short pause after the first chorus is SO good!
Also is that a xylophone that I hear?? Mixed in with the rest of the heavy instrumentals? If so fuck yeah! I think the instrumentals are fairly experimental over all (especially the percussion at the 2:30 mark) and even if it sometimes is a little discordant I think the song gets away with it fairly well:-)
Extra thoughts:
Very cool album cover and band name tbh. Hogbitch is such a strong title.

Today's song is "The Dance Of Life" (2009) by JaLaLa
Tumblr media
Review:
Such a pleasant song:-) The singer's voice was especially enjoyable! And it being joined with the piano and simple violin gives the song a very "classy" feel. It was honestly a great song to listen to after a long day.
Extra thoughts:
Is it just me or is this song giving big femme fatale vibes?
