This is a freshwater Fire Eel! These guys turn into absolute giants at over 2 FEET long!! For this gentle giant you'll need a tank that’s at least 180 gallons. I have one at home who's name is Zuko. He's about 8 inches long and is the most outgoing eel I've ever met. Most eels will scurry off if you get near them but not Zuko! As they get older and recognize their owners, they'll ask to be pet! Hand feeding them shrimp is a good way to build a lasting bond. Do you guys have any interesting critters at home?

Did you know that baby Discus eat the slime off of their parents for a month? It's like nursing for puppies! It's for this reason they must be kept with their mom and dad until they can accept baby brine shrimp and cyclopods. Luckily, the parents take shifts so they can both eat. Once mated, they are paired for life. Isn't that awesome??
