*Sigh*... I have this F/O that means a lot to me but I haven't played (or watched) his source in years. Over time I've accumulated more F/O's but he will always be the first, and that's why I feel like I'm betraying him with each new shiny character I fall for. I really don't want it to be where he just sits and collects dust, he's a good man that deserves the world, but I really can't help my heart. Any advice?

Well, to be honest, I think you already answered your own worry. Via your own admission, even when there are "shiny" and "new" F/Os, you always find yourself going back to him. How you get there doesn't really matter. If you stopped caring about him this would also be valid, but since you still clearly do (care), just recognizing this is enough. You will eventually circle back to him, but it's okay to enjoy the journey there and let yourself be invested in other F/Os for a while.
I also think it's important to note that, while "firsts" certainly hold sentimental value and are important in that way, and that many (and in this case) don't degrade overtime, there is a reason one gets attracted to new F/Os overtime. Perhaps said F/Os fit your current self more than your past F/Os. Which isn't to say that they don't, but that you may have realized certain types and interests since then that you want to explore with newer F/Os. And that is completely valid!
It's okay to want to keep your first while also exploring current interests.

Ha, well, it sounds like you and your F/O just need to have a little conversation. Maybe ask them not to eat your food, or your containers, and explain why it causes problems for you.
