"I am Groot."

The words were said with great confidence, as if one was introducing themselves to a stranger, but knew deep in their soul place that they and this stranger would become great friends. (Or at least friendly acquaintances that invited the other to lunch when they were visiting the other's home planet, only to be slightly relieved when the invitation was declined, though they would feel a bit guilty by their relief.)

What she says: I'm fine.

What she means: I am groot.

"Three words eight letters, say it and I’m yours…"

"I am Groot."

A tree who did not have independent thought would have said nothing, but this tree was, in fact, it's own independent and quite thoughtful organic being. He expressed this very gently to the confused entity.

He was Groot. But what was this young, translucent being?

"I am Groot?"

Was he(she/they) looking for confirmation about his(her/their)  own identity? Was that it? Did he(she/they) need someone  to affirm their existence? Was this plant having an  existential crisis?! ” I don’t know. Are you Groot? " 

"I...am Groot?"

This time, one could possibly assume a sentient tree would mean "I'm doing alright, but you seem a bit pale?" Of course, referring to the young lady's state of being (or lack thereof) as she floated in and out of existence through the strange portals of space, time, life, death, and treedom.

You know that feeling when you do something you thought would be totally hilarious and you end  up  almost  pissing  yourself because holy shit it’s a sentient t r e e ———- " Uh —- um…… Hmm. “ What does one even say to a tree? She spent her adolescence  lighting up tree but that’s completely different.  ” ……………..’Sup. “ Nailed it.

"I am Groot."

The words might have been said with such a tone that might imply, "What the ever loving fuck are you doing?" if one could use such a tone that would imply such things.

         ” WhoOOOOooOooOO —- “                 These are some legit, A rated ghost noises, folks.              Doesn’t get much better than t h i s.          ” OoohHhhooOooOH!! “
