Errr I have an idea for a Jehan-centric sequel fic! In my more deranged moments I write little bits of it. I'm a glutton for punishment, it seems 😂 I just think he deserves his own little adventure and also romance plot after having to play long-suffering third wheel to Enjolras and Grantaire's nonsense all this time. It's kind of about him trying to find out more about his psychic abilities and trying to learn to control them better? I don't think I can say any more without giving too much away 😂

Q: Do you like getting prompts from your readers?

I couldn't decide if this meant like, story prompts, or someone prompting me to update already 😂 Story prompts can be fun, I wrote some little snippets of fic based on prompts way back when, but I do get stressed if someone gives me a prompt that I don't like or I'm not interested in because then I feel really bad for not doing anything with it 😭 so it's a mixed bag!

The other type of prompt is never fun. No thank you 😂

A: Of the fanfic you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

UMW is probably my favourite! I get annoyed with it sometimes and it's by no means perfect but if I didn't love it, there's no way I'd have stuck with it this long. If I ever manage to finish it, it'll be my proudest fanfic achievement 😂 It's hard to say exactly why it's my favourite. I suppose it lets me play with a lot of ideas that I would have liked to see explored in the Supernatural show. And Grantaire as an SPN!angel just really appeals to me. He believes in Enjolras because it's hardwired into him to believe in something. And of course it's a messy, complicated love story, which is my favourite sort 😂

E: What character do you identify with most?  Is there a certain fic of yours that captures these qualities particularly well?

I guess probably Grantaire? We all give Grantaire a dose of our own neuroses in fic, right? Right? I'm not the only one that does that?

T: Any fanfic tropes you can’t stand?

🤔🤔 That's tough! I think most tropes can be executed well. I can't think of one off the top of my head that I'd hate no matter what the specific story was like. I guess I'm not interested in High School AUs? But that's just bc I'm too old to want to read about the interpersonal drama of teenagers.

Sorry, this is quite a boring answer but I don't think any of my fics are especially personal? 🤔🤔 I draw a bit on personal experience when I write but I don't think it ever ends up being the most prevalent thing!

Uhhhhhh I mean. It might be. Beloved classic work of literature Les Miserables thrown into a blender with beloathed (affectionate) 2005 CW show Supernatural 😂😂 It sure did turn into a story! But only barely! A friend had to convince me to post the first chapter of UMW because I was writhing in agony like 'noooo I've done a crime, the fandom will be mad at me for this 😭😭'

That was 11 years ago, though. I feel like my personal bar for what's weird has been raised a lot since then 😂 I still wouldn't relish trying to explain UMW to anyone outside the fandom, though.

B: What was the first fandom you read fic in? Which was the first you wrote fic for?

The first fandom I both read and wrote for was Beyblade! I was 12 and a friend of mine introduced me to both the concept of fanfic and fanfiction.net, where she was reading Labyrinth fic at the time. I wasn't much interested in the Labyrinth stuff but I was totally obsessed with Beyblade so it was all over when I saw it also had a section on this thrilling new website 😂 if I'd discovered fanfic a few years earlier I almost definitely would have started out writing for either Sonic the Hedgehog or Dragonball Z, though. I was daydreaming stories about those long before I realised that writing those stories down and sharing them online was a thing you could do 😂

J:  What’s your favorite fanfic trope?  Have you written it?

I'm extremely partial to a good Enemies to Lovers fic ❤️❤️ And I've certainly...started writing it. I wrote a lot of the Enemies part in my extremely long and forever unfinished Yu-Gi-Oh fic 'Homecoming'. Never actually got to the Lovers part, though. Unfortunately for everyone, I also love a Slow Burn 🥲 I'm not sure if UMW counts as this trope, either. It's more like Strangers to Friends to Teetering on the Brink of Lovers to Enemies But Only From One Party's Perspective to ?????

Well, despite the fact that a while ago I was like "sorry I don't think I'll be doing much more alternate POV stuff for UMW, I need to focus on the main fic", I've now been visited by a powerful need to write a whole Feuilly/Bahorel backstory thing that no one asked for 😂 so uh that's in the works!

Also I've been doing some scribbling of an entirely new fic which is an e/R Grishaverse AU?? I'm having a lot of fun with it but I don't know if I'll post it unless I completely finish writing it, I'm not sure I want another WIP on my conscience 🥲 I'm really enjoying just playing around with it though, UMW is my baby but sometimes it's nice to explore a somewhat different take on the characters!

i’m curious if you’re the kind of writer who uses your real experiences and feelings when writing characters, or if most of your POV characters are very different from you? ig because I was thinking about how different enjolras and grantaire are in how they think about their big fallout and stuff haha

Hmm I guess it's both? I definitely use my own feelings as a reference point while writing, but while each character probably ended up with one or two of my traits just like, by merit of being written out of my head, I don't think any of them are particularly like me 😂

But also, I empathise strongly with both Enjolras and Grantaire re. their big fallout! I'd be incredibly hurt and angry if I thought someone I trusted had used me and lied to me! I'd be heartbroken if I told someone I loved a truth about myself and they rejected me for it! They both have these feelings that make perfect sense for how they each perceive the situation; the issue lies in the fact that both their perceptions are faulty. They think about it differently because communication between them has been, uh, poor and they each think they're dealing with a completely different problem. Enjolras, for a long time after the initial angel reveal, doesn't have all the facts, and what facts he does have were not presented to him in a good light, and to him, the problem is that the Grantaire he knew was never real, and the real Grantaire is something unknowable and potentially dangerous that hurt and humiliated him. Grantaire, meanwhile, decided back in chapter 1 that if Enjolras ever knew the truth of what he is, he'd hate him enough to kill him over it, and he just won't be disavowed of this notion. To him, the problem is that him being what he is just ruins everything, forever, and he just resigns himself to that, and it takes a lot of convincing from Jehan for him to even consider trying to fix things, and though he wants things to be fixed, he doesn't have much confidence that they can be. And, for added flavour, he doesn't understand Enjolras's perspective enough to be able to effectively clear up the misunderstanding.

tl;dr it's not difficult to write their wildly different thoughts and feelings about their big breakup because they are each perceiving a wildly different problem 😂 I have the fun job of putting myself in each of their shoes and being like "Okay based on THIS set of dumb preconceived notions and incomplete data, how would I feel about THIS?"
