Okay but Francesca looking up at that portrait of Edmund and Violet? Heartbreaking.

But also… have we seen that portrait before? Because the idea that Kate moved it into the sitting room, finding it tucked away after years of it making Violet and Anthony too sad to look at is making me feel some kind of way.

And imagine Violet’s reaction when she sees it being hung on the wall.

“I haven’t seen that portrait in… years.” Violet said quietly, tears shining in her eyes.

Kate smiled, “It’s beautiful. Is it a good likeness of Lord Bridgerton?”

Violet nodded slowly, her eyes fixed on her husband. “A very good likeness. I had just found out we were expecting Anthony then, he was so happy.”

Kate nodded, “His smile reminds me of Anthony. Though he looks more like Benedict, I think.”

“He does.” Violet hummed, “Anthony reminds me of him more and more these last few months. Edmund loved being married, he hated going out when we could stay in together.”

Kate chuckled, “I must confess I thought him rather more social when we married.”

“He famously told me he hates people because doesn’t know.”

Neither of them spoke for a moment, stood staring at the portrait before Kate cleared her throat.

“I should have asked you, before I moved it in here. I only… I miss my Appa. And I know Anthony wants to… be more open and I think it’s nice. The idea of him, looking out for everyone.”

Violet shook her head, “No. He should be here. You’re right.”

Kate smiled, “I wish I could have known him.”

Violet chuckled, “Oh the way you keep Anthony on his toes; you would have been his favourite person.”

“Bothering Anthony is my favourite sport, it’s true.”
