unfortunately, evangeline’s time on earth is limited. she showed signs of some fungus/ bacterial/ illness on monday (white fuzzy looking spots) acted fine the whole week, then today (friday) her scales were raised. she struggles to swim, doesn’t want to eat, and sits at the bottom of her tank. it physically hurts me to see her like this because she is so young and she deserves so much better. i had plans on moving her to her 5.5 gallon this sunday since it’s finally 100% cycled, but nature had other plans. if she is still with us tomorrow i plan on euthanizing. saddest part is zazu had a fuzzy spot pop up on him today as well. praying to god that i don’t lose him too.

this girl pisses me off so much. i can’t even put together words to describe this video. she goes on and on bashing breeders saying “they slowly kill their frys that don’t match their expectations” as if the breeder is killing off the ones that don’t have the color they wanted or the proper “form”. she has LOTS of videos that have a LOT of misinformation but i think this is her worst one. i want to hear everyone else’s opinions about her because personally i cannot stand the information she gives out on her channel.

i’m furious. after a water change on my pea puffer tank, my filter broke. i’ve had it since november 2017, so what happened? it’s a topfin silent stream 20. it suddenly stopped sucking up water so i now have to wait until 9 tomorrow morning for petsmart to open up. is there anything i can do to make sure that the tank doesn’t crash? pea puffers are sensitive to water quality, what can i do to help them if and when the cycle crashes? i’m thinking about getting a Aqua Clear Fluval Power Filter due to the reviews being so good, any other recommendations or things i should know about this filter?

URGENT: Need to rehome betta fish
Im going to get to the point. I have 3 betta fish that need rehoming by Thursday, July 12th. I love them so dearly and this is really a tough situation for me. Recently a lot has been going on and in the past week my grandma has fallen incredibly ill and we aren’t sure she’s going to make it. I’m going to be out of town for at least 2 weeks starting Friday the 13th and I desperately need someone to take my fish. I live in the Central Okanagan, BC, Canada and if there’s anyone who can take them I would greatly appreciate it! I will include the tanks and all its accessories if you’d like! Please I’m desperate, if you can’t take them PLEASE reblog this so I can hopefully find someone. I won’t be shipping them because I feel uncomfortable shipping live animals, especially in the heat

This is Cassiopeia in her 10 gallon tank. She’s super energetic, always zipping around the tank. She makes her own bubble nests bigger than the males I have. She will try to eat you finger, or anything that moves

This is Pluto in his 5 gallon. I got him as a rescue and he’s been battling fin rot for as long as I’ve had him. He’s super energetic and often misses food the first couple times

And finally, this is Houdini. He just beat a case of ich and recovered from the early stages of dropsy. He’s very chill and likes to sit on the heater and ignore food
I love my fish so much, but it’s a very tough situation that I didn’t see coming. Thank you for reading this and please pass on the word

Hey Tumblr!! Help rehab a fish in need of help?
This is the story about how I went to a party and came home the next day with a carrot who likes to swim.
I was at a friends house for a party the other night, and discovered they had abandoned their betta, so I asked them if I could possibly have the fish, and re home it (I grew up my entire life having betta’s, so I have a soft spot for them). Long story short, I now have a fish that resembles a carrot with ranch dip in my care.
(On the left) are the conditions I picked it up this morning in… The water was cloudy, the filter, heater, and light are all broken on the tank she had provided me (as I have discovered today..) in addition to the tank being too small for the fish. There was also weird neon green lumps in the gravel, in addition to the copious amount of poop (which was easy to clean up). And in addition to all this, he is extremely skinny for a Betta, and is suffering from fin rot. I already have him on medication, new food, and  have done a deep cleaning of the tank.
I have no idea what to do about the actual tank situation though, given that I am a struggling college student and in the midst of moving out, so money is non-existent to rehab him properly. Ideally I would like to move him to a larger tank (such as the fluval spec on the right), but I lack the funds to do so. So, I will be starting a go fund me to give this boy the best life possible, in addition to covering his medication.
Please help out any way you can, to rehab my new carrot stick, link to his go fund me will be below, in addition to my amazon wishlist if you want to help buy the tank outright (which would be amazing):

**If you can’t donate anything, please reblog this post to spread the word so I help get him the care and tank he deserves after his mistreatment**

an update on my puffers, eeyore and heffalump are THRIVING. eeyore is finally putting on weight and is catching up to heffalump, who’s the biggest in the tank. unfortunately, it’s a hit or miss with these fish and while my other two LOVE frozen bloodworms, little roo requires different care. she will be moving into a 5.5 gallon by herself once it’s all set up, until she puts on enough weight to be with the bigger kids. she was always REALLY skinny since i got her, and she seemed to be doing okay on bloodworms, but since i got back from the beach, she’s been refusing. she is now on a diet of mosquito larvae. during feeding times, i remove her from the 20 gallon and place her into this little viewing container along with 4-10 larvae. i usually leave her in there until they’re gone or until she’s full, but so far it seems to be working. *I DO NOT KEEP HER IN THIS CONTAINER. SHE IS IN HERE FOR 10-30 MINUTES PER DAY. SHE GOES BACK TO THE 20 GALLON AFTER SHE EATS* do not be concerned with how skinny she is. i KNOW she is skinny, she has been skinny ever since i got her. we’re trying to fix the problem, but she is the pickiest puffer ever.

Healthy Vs. Unhealthy Betta Fish
As a new betta owner, you may not yet be familiar with your fish and how it should look or behave. Since many new betta owners are honestly not aware that their fish may be sick or injured, here are common signs of both healthy and unhealthy fish to be aware of:

i’ve had pascal since january, no recent changes to the tank EXCEPT mid may, his tank was torn down but his water and objects in the tank stayed wet. i also moved him to a different part of my room along and changed his broken filter but kept his old filter pad. it’s extremely difficult to see, but a couple of days ago pascal had this white thing hanging off him. however, he is a white betta so i couldn’t tell for sure if he just scratched himself on something or if it was a worm. the next day it was gone, and then it reappeared once then left again. recently he has been having trouble breathing. tonight i checked in on him and he’s sleeping near the surface of the water floating instead of inside his log or another dark spot like normal. he’s also rubbing along the sides of his tank, but it’s not constant. he is still actively swimming around and still eating although he looks like he has trouble with even the tiniest little betta pellet. i tried to post it to a betta group on facebook and they told me it could be gill flukes but wouldn’t the flukes be too small to actually see? i currently have general cure, but it going to the petstore soon. what can i do to help him?

everyone meet the new little baby ❤️ i’m trying to decide between maleficent or evangeline. she’s black with a few metallic scales, however it looks like she could be a copper. she was labeled as a veiltail female, but the fraying of her tail (i don’t know how to describe it) makes me think she’s a crown tail. they had her in an adult cup, but they should have labeled her as a baby. this little girl is TINY. she’s barely bigger than my pea puffers, which just blows my mind. she is currently in zazu’s old 2 gallon tank, but i plan on moving her to a 5.5 gallon if she gets a LOT bigger.

it’s been a while and some things have changed so here are update photos of my tanks + our newest addition :) 1st row - zazu veil tail male (5.5 topfin) 2nd row - pascal white opal halfmoon (5.5 topfin) p.s i’m aware of how bad his fins look, he is a fin nipper and i ordered IAL to help but there isn’t much i can do 3rd row - my pea puffers roo, heffalump, and eeyore. (20 topfin) i know one pictured is under weight. i feed them daily, but i believe they might have IP so they’re starting treatment soon. 4th row - little (by little i mean TINY. she isn’t that much bigger than my pea puffers) female “veil tail” she doesn’t have a name yet, however i’m pretty sure she is a crown tail. i’ll do a post about her later! (2 topfin, she has a 5.5 cycling i just didn’t want to put her in until she grows some more)
