To some, these are just yellow old pages. To me, they contain entire worlds I can escape to when I need it. | Instagram

The Giver -Lois Lowry
Tumblr media
The Giver By: Lois Lowry is set in a world where everything seems perfect, but gradually turns out to be a dystopian world as the story is being to progress. The story follows a 12-year-old boy, Jonas who lives in a society where they strive to be the same and have a lack of emotions; This all change when Jonas is selected to get the position “The Receiver of Memory” a person who stores all the memories of the past, there could be moments where the Receiver of Memory could be called upon on by the council at any moment. Jonas is getting trained by the current receiver whose like to be called “The Giver” Jonas first ever memory was a snowy hill with a bright red sled on it and over time Jonas starts getting memories of hunger, warfare, and pain unable to deal with the pain of the memories the Giver helps Jonas runs away; Jonas also runs away with a child named Gabriel that was due to release.
I’ll start talking about the ending and my theory concerning it so if you don’t want any spoilers, please skip this part and have a good time reading this book.
Spoilers:
Towards the end of the book, we find Jonas and Gabriel on top of a snowy hill tired from hunger and the cold; Jonas finds a red sled on the hill and starts to ride it towards a house of warmth, colors and hear something that he believes is music, it ends there. My theory is everything in Jonas’s life is a lie and he’s actually in a mental hospital he had a traumatic moment in his life which cause him to be at the hospital, Jonas’s whole perfect image of the hospital starts crumbling down when Jonas starts to get visits from a friend “the Giver” and start telling him memories of the old days, this is where Jonas starts hallucinating and runs away with “Gabriel” who been dead ever since that traumatic moment in his life. And that’s my theory if you guys have read this story before tell me your guys theories about “The Giver”

I totally relate to Tom Cruise. He's not crazy, it's just the litany of the mid-life crisis
