I have decided that I’m going to not going to be back on Tumblr for the foreseeable future, mainly because it often just brings me distraction or negativity, and giving it up for Lent has really shown me that I really don’t need it. I’ve really enjoyed seeing the asoue fandom on here, I hope everyone goes on to be great! I’m not going to deactivate, but I don’t think I’m going to come back on anytime soon. ✌🏼

This gives off strong asoue vibes
I'd say my biggest dream is meeting Joan Cusack and telling her she should have won a best supporting actress oscar for Addams Family Values.

The most villain epic rant there ever was.
Completely crazy, evil, greedy, over the top, angry, hysterical and…yet..slightly sympathetic.
The family (mostly) agreeing with her points makes it so much more amazing.

Of course what killed Olaf was the harpoon to the gut not to mention the fungus eating his lungs to the point of coughing up blood but
I like to imagine it’s because he did one (1) good deed and that was so repulsive to his body that it killed him on the spot

News Reporter: We’re here with eleven-year-old Carmelita Spats who fended off Count Olaf earlier today. How did you do it, Carmelita?
Carmelita Spats: Well, thank you for asking. I used the Bittenbinder method. When I saw Count Olaf approaching, I chewed up a tab of Alka-Seltzer I carry with me at all times. This created a foaming-at-the-mouth appearance that made it look like I had rabies. Now I’ve thrown him off his rhythm. Then, I reach into his jacket pocket where I had planted a gram of coke and I went, “Whoa! What the fuck is this?” And, he goes, “That’s not mine. I’ve never seen that before.” I go, “Boo-hoo, it’s in your jacket. You’re doing two to ten and your kids are going into Social Services.” Now he’s crying! Then I grab a telephone book, and I beat him on the torso with it. Because as any Hinterlands cop will tell you, a phone book doesn’t leave bruises.
News Reporter: Well, that was eleven-year-old Carmelita Spats, currently being sued for police brutality.

Not to be edgy but I’ll never understand the desire to sanitize fiction of any dark or “problematic” aspects to enjoy it, when those aspects are exactly what made the thing compelling to begin with
you do you I guess but god that shit gets boring fast

vfd is basically university
- makes you live away from your parents
- forces you to choose one special academic interest and educates you heavily in said subject
- reading is imperative and the library is a safe haven
- everyone seems to end up getting tattoos
- bias toward aristocracy/superiority surrounding the most intelligent and/or affluent
- takes all of your money, but it’s ok because they may give you some back to continue your projects and time with their organization
- also, your special interest has to eventually be used to generate income of some sort, so that you can continue to contribute financially to the organization for the rest of your life
- half of the people seem to live very loud/crazy lives, and the other half just wants some peace and quiet

In the books, Duncan and Isadora were imprisoned in the tower room of Count Olaf’s house for a while. Handler’s original plan for the series was for the tower room to contain some of the materials the Baudelaires discover in The End (source). I don’t know the timing of when exactly Handler changed this plan, but this suggests he may have written The Vile Village intending to imply that Duncan and Isadora had read those materials, presumably the collective journal A Series of Unfortunate Events, to which the Baudelaire parents had contributed.
Obviously that ultimately isn’t canon to the series, but it’s evidence that I’m right about how Duncan and Isadora are written. They’re supposed to have learned some serious shit. They know a lot more about the setting than the readers ever find out. They’re in deep.

This is why I find it really sad when I try to show people the show/books and they say that it’s so unrealistic because ‘real people wouldn’t act that way’, like dude, it’s purposeful exaggeration for the purpose of social commentary
i like how writing realistic worlds and characters is so important for so many writers to the point where they agonize over it. meanwhile lemony snicket was just like “death to reality. im gonna write this whole ass series and with god as my witness, absolutely fucking NOBODY is gonna act like a person.”
