Cale always said that if you are facing a stronger enemy, run away and come back to hit them hard from behind. I realized that it came from his past trauma when he fought against the second-unranked monster. Back then, Rok Soo had told Lee Soo Hyuk that if they fought that monster, they would all die. However, in the end, they still fought against the monster, and unfortunately, all of them died. From Cale's point of view, running away and then attacking from behind was the right thing to do when they fought the monster..... Damn, I am sobbing, author-nim likes to make us cry.

Why were ancient powers in TBOAH not considered strong? Let’s talk about it.
What was that thing in the beginning of the novel that talked about ancient powers not being powerful? And despite people having them, they weren’t used very much in The Birth of a Hero because of that?
Cale had said it before when he talked about the fiery thunderbolt in tboah when Pendrick had gotten it, saying that it was of equal power to like a lighter or something, nowhere as powerful as what they needed it for.
But when Cale got it, it’s suddenly just gods damnation?!?!?? And it had the power to purify dead mana and black magic like this whole time?? That needs to be a topic for a whole other post (I mean seriously, that’s overpowered af, and no one would’ve ever known because only Cale can hear the voices of ancient powers, so Pendrick would forever have absolutely no idea it could do that)
I mean, it could be the way he spent all that money just to give it more power in a way Pendrick would never be able to do because they’re so non-materialistic.
But still, it’s just such a big difference????
The Sound of the Wind, Toonka in TBOAH never used it, again, maybe just because it might’ve been a bit too similar to magic, but he also called it weak and just never used it!
The Unbreakable Shield was just never used period, despite its usefulness and utility.
I have no idea about the Sky-Eating Water because I think it also never got used.
But why does something about Cale make these powers stronger?
They’re not even fully combined with his soul! They’re not at full power!! What the hell???!??
I have a theory about this, but you have to hear me out-
So TBOAH was the story about the creation of a hero through suffering and overcoming adversity, right?
Maybe his ancient powers are so strong because of a, “high risk, high return” type thing?
For example, referencing one of my past posts, every time he coughs up blood from an ancient powers recoil, he should be dying. His plate is weak, it’s made of glass, and every time he uses one last their limit, that glass will get closer snd closer to breaking, that is, without the Crybaby ancient power.
The Crybaby ancient power serves as a cushion, a shock-absorber, for every time one of the other ancient powers tries to recoil against Cale’s glass plate.
Just think of it as, every time Cale has ever coughed up blood, he should’ve been dead.
And of course, Cale, with barely any self preservation instincts, or those mental blocks in his brain that would usually be like “oh using that much would be too harmful, let’s not,” Mr, I can used Instant for 5 seconds and come out looking like I jumped into a blender, who is willing to sacrifice himself at anytime for the ones he loves, will always use the ancient powers past the safe limit.
For taking such a large backlash, one that would, should, be strong enough to kill you, you must be rewarded with something pretty powerful, right? Balance and all that shit?

part 2, chapter 39 !
i can't believe my eyes.... can't believe what i just read...
Choi Han, who had approached at some point, had grabbed the Blood Cultist by the back of his neck and slammed him into the ground.
Crunch.
He then grabbed the hand that had been aiming for Cale’s neck and twisted it back. It twisted in a direction it should not twist in.
Basically, the arm was broken.
‘H, how swift?’
Choi Han’s reaction had been much faster than Cale had expected. It was as if he had been warily waiting for this to happen.
Cale and Choi Han made eye contact.
Cale slightly nodded his head to tell Choi Han that he did a good job. Choi Han smiled innocently, almost as if he was embarrassed, to show that it was nothing.
what are you embarrassed about 😭😭😭 he really did not hesitate, uh

So I have a black cat named Midnight, boo hoo, basic I know, but she’s the weirdest damn cat I’ve ever owned
Like whenever I’m laying down in bed, she doesn’t go sit on my open lap like any normal cat would, instead, she curls up next to me and rests her head on my shoulder
It’s so damn adorable but I just really wanna know why she does it
Also before she eventually lays down next to me, she loves to sit on my chest and headbutt me and when I try to push her away she complains
And when you pet her, at some point in the petting process, she’ll turn around and lock onto your wrist and or open arm and nip you
Not like a full on bite but if you catch her about to do it and prevent it she will stop at nothing to bite your arm. I’ve told my dad about it and he says she’s tasting me and at this point I’m starting to believe it because she always licks the spot that she bites afterwards
She’s also gone on a hunger strike a few times and she won’t eat unless she’s fed before the other two cats and even then sometimes she won’t eat unless we put her on the kitchen counter
I really just want to know the logic behind her decisions

A thing I forgot to add:
when og!Cale got transmigrated into KRS’s body, he was delighted when he saw all of the scars that his new body had.
He was relieved that the person before him suffered just like him, and that despite the suffering, the person lived on and continued.
This is what helped og!Cale accept his new life as KRS. Because KRS will always push forward through suffering and keep going.
And although when Cale first transmigrated he knew nothing really about og!Cale, he shared the emotional scars.
He shared the neglect of the one who was supposed to be a parent, and the loss of everyone around them, as og!Cale put on the act, no one knew the true him like how no one knew the true KRS after his friends died.
A thing from TCF that keeps getting stuck in it head is KRS’ scars.
So we all know that KRS had A LOT of scars. Instant was of course the cause of these scars, from situations where KRS had no other options during fights.
KRS lived with these scars, the wounds he gained never being able to truly heal. They were living reminders of the pain he has had to go through.
His body was changed and torn, no longer being the person he was.
Here’s the best part though-
Cale will never have scars. Like he is physically unable to have scars. The crybaby ancient power prevent scars from forming by completely healing wounds.
Can you just imagine how happy Cale must feel about that? To not be the walking reminder of pain? To not have his body permanently damaged?
This is like my 4th post about how the crybaby ancient power is literally the MVP of Cale’s ancient powers LMFAO
Idk, it’s just something I think about a lot.
It prevents his plate from breaking every time he gets backlash from another ancient power, quite literally save his life because when your plate breaks you die.
It prevented Cale’s body from exploding while he gathered all the other ancient powers.
It stocks up on energy to heal Cale more efficiently by making him hungrier.
It keeps Cale’s body is a perfect state of health- I don’t think Cale can even get sick- or be poisoned for that matter-
It give Cale the ability to go longer without sleep- which might develop some unhealthy habits, but for someone who has a mile long list of things to do, sleep and the body’s natural need for rest would be the number one enemy-
We do not give the crybaby enough love.
I do not know how I became the crybaby’s number one advocate but here I am LMAO

“I’m still trash.”
It's happened many times that Cale calls himself trash, even though nobody would believe him. But I think he sees himself that way because he's the only survivor from the battle against the 2nd unranked monster. Remember when he was in the failure test? What did the system say?
– Error. Cause determined.
The voice continued.
– There are numerous worst failures in the challenger’s mind. There is no ranking of failures in his mind.
– He can not forget any of his past failures and recalls them all equally.
– His uncertainty and fear for potential future failures are also on equal footing.
– Unable to choose one due to the existence of multiple worst failures.
For Cale, every failure feels like the worst, regardless of its nature.
The numerous footage glowing green started breaking.
The failure of surviving the battle against the unranked monster alone.
The failure of seeing team members being injured for the first time since joining the company.
The failure of losing a subordinate for the first time after becoming team leader.
The potential failure of people around him getting hurt in the future.
And dude, after knowing about that, he just said
‘…Oh, this is good.’
Seriously, dude? If anyone's up for volunteering to send him to see a therapist, hit me up.

Come to think of it, Cale treated Taylor Stan normally because he had encountered Jang Man Soo, who had lost his legs at the onset of the cataclysm. Additionally, Cale's decision to collect the shield ancient power stemmed from his encounter with him. That's why he occasionally used a piece of metal in combat when he was the rookie Kim Rok Soo.
I'm always amazed by the small details in TCF that you only notice upon rereading. The author did a great job capturing those nuances.
