Episode two of the Rosie the Reviewer pod is out today. We discuss episodes 4-7 of Band of Brothers, and I also tell @almost-a-class-act about my grandpa's adventures during the war, even though a lot is unknown, and that makes me sad.
@fayestardust and I are going to get silly with Pearl Harbor very soon... drop me a line if you have any thoughts, whimsies, madcap commentary, or questions!
Update. It’ll be tomorrow. Questions still welcome.
@almost-a-class-act and I are recording a pod about SOE agent Violette Szabo tomorrow while talking about Carve Her Name With Pride (1958) / Violette Szabo,'The Life That I Have' by Susan Ottoway (2002). Do you have any tidbits to mention on the pod or questions you want us to answer?
just listened to episode one of your pod with @fayestardust! I also picked up band of brothers during the pandemic (but for me, not for the first time, just for the most obsessed time). I know MY reason why it hit for me then, so I'm curious why (or why you think) the pandemic was Your Time to start loving the series.
(also, looking forward to further episodes!! Just love hearing people talk about things they love.)
Hiii I love this message! I had a little scroll of your blog and I assume we're roughly the same age because my first movie in the cinema was also the Lion King and I'll be hearing End of Ze World in my fucking dreams until the sun engulfs us. Lmao.
I had to search back in my messages because I was like, what did prompt me to watch Band of Brothers in the first place? Well, as it turns out, as with everything to do with fandom, I came at it sideways - I figured I'd rewatch The Pacific because I had seen all of Shameless and had a little yen for Noel Fisher. Afterward my streaming service suggested Band of Brothers and we were probably in one of the innumerable lockdowns of 2020 so I watched that next. Exact words in a chat to my friend: "Can I watch TWO HBO War miniseries in the span of two days?"
I came back and watched it again in the spring of 2021. And then I watched it again with @fayestardust in the fall of 2021 and that's when I kind of picked back up using Tumblr a lot more again too. It's the most fun to share a hobby with a friend! And I think maybe I just had cabin fever in my house and wanted to talk about anything with anybody, LOL.

Not Sam having to remind me when we watched because my memory has been shot ever since forever. 😅

Link NOT in bio, but right here. @almost-a-class-act already made a post about this but I also wanted to do my own.
The first episode of our podcast is live on your favourite podcast places. It's a strange little thing—and kind of nerve-wracking.
Come listen to us chat about Band of Brothers! It's a show we both love, as I know do many of you.
Let me know what you think, and if you'd like us to review any particular WW2 movies, shows, books or documentaries, Feel free to suggest!
ATTENTION ATTENTION. @almost-a-class-act and I are launching our podcast Rosie the Reviewer, this Friday! We'll be talking about our first WW2 show, which, you may not be very surprised to find, is Band of Brothers!
You can find the podcast on your usual podcast places, but I'd love it if you subscribed on Spotify, where you can also find a little preview as of this moment!
Tomorrow, we're recording an episode about Unbroken (book AND movie), so if you've got a specific moment you'd like us to consider, feel free to send an ask!
