RomComs
I am so over romcoms where the female protagonist forgets she is a strong independent woman and gives the guy who hurt her a second chance... then they live “happily ever after”? That’s not reality - stop giving women a fake expectation of love!
All these movies do is reinforce the idea that a strong female should betray herself and she will get rewarded for not being true to the person she is.
Do you know what happens in reality when you have a moment of weakness and let the guy back in? You either get hurt because he fucks you over again, or you get disappointed because he is not there to make you feel better but just to make himself feel better.
I wanna see the romcom where the guy gets his shot with the girl and when he fucks her over and comes crawling back she has found her own independence and is happy in herself. I wanna see the romcom where as soon as the guy fucks up the girl uses her inner strength to move on and never look back.
Raise your hands if you’re with me, ladies!

It is NOT okay.
Today’s Sun headline has ‘inspired’ me to write another blog post. I’m not sure inspired is even the right word. Try, infuriated.
For those of you who have been living under a rock today’s headline of that vile paper read “I slapped JK and I’m not sorry”, apparently a direct quote from JK Rowling’s first husband. I say apparently because I haven’t read the article. I just woke up and saw the rage on my Twitter feed and was, well, suitably angry. In case any one reading this isn’t aware, the article is a sort of response to some pretty controversial things JK has been saying recently on social media regarding her TERF views which has sparked enough outrage that people like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson released statements saying JK was an idiot (OK, they didn’t use those words exactly, they were way more eloquent and British about it).
Anyway.
We all know the Sun paper is up there with the Daily Mail in terms of printing absolute nightmarish trash, not fit to even line a cat’s litter box etc etc but that’s not the point. The point is, is that by printing such a headline the Sun is basically trivializing victims of domestic abuse. At a time when domestic violence is at a high (another “perk” of lockdown) paying an abuser and giving him the front page of a national paper is absolutely sickening. What message does this send to other abusers out there? That it is OK to batter your partner or child if you think they deserve it then go for it?!
I just pray that some good has come out of this, the reaction on social media to the Sun’s article might raise awareness of domestic violence and the courses of action victims can take to make themselves safe. I was lucky because I have other family members who removed me from that unsafe environment but not all victims are lucky. Some of them are very much alone. My heart aches for these people. I don’t know if it is because of lockdown that people are going crazy or if they always had it in them to begin with, all I know is that there are some seriously deranged people out there, and newspapers like the Sun.
I’ve been wanting to tweet about my experience for a few days now but I can never seem to find the right words. My response to the Sun’s article was the closest I came to tweeting about what happened to me personally. I wasted an hour trying to phrase how I was feeling and in the end I went directly to the back-track style statement they released when they realised they had messed up, with “fuck off. sincerely, a victim”.

“This Tumblr is Content Free”
Ah the fresh crisp feel of a “content free” Tumblr. How I miss the days of retweeting Vampire Diaries gifs and posting passive aggressive posts about how that guy wasn’t paying me any attention or, worse, he was only posting passive aggressive tweets about me.
Tumblr was like an extension of Twitter where you posted a PA tweet and then went onto Tumblr to elaborate. Now I don’t even know what Tumblr is used for. How do I get a nice theme? How do I get people to follow me? Follow for follows? No I don’t want my Tumblr being spammed with pointless updates from people I literally do not care about.
