ℒℴ❤ℯ—- ;; “I-I wouldn’t forget”
Or at least often times she would try not to. But perhaps
for this one she would actually attempt to purge every
memory of his from her mind. That would be incessantly
RUDE though. That is simply not how Anri functioned. Polite,
and yet timid, wanting to get out of these situations as quick
as possible. But for some reason there was an air about this
one that said ‘No, I won’t let you go so easily’ It was tiresome.
“H-Have you been……around h-here lately though?”
If this was true, then she would probably be seeing him even
MORE often…
‘ is that so...?
wonderful! being forgotten is quite
hurtful, you know; even i don’t enjoy it. ‘
he’s been told it’s difficult to forget him; unfortunately
so for anyone else, especially those that don’t find him
enjoyable to be around. of course, the demon doesn’t
care -- he enjoys being an annoyance, and so he finds
it entertaining. FUN. with the poker face-esque smile
remains on his face, a hum leaving closed lips before
they open to speak again.
‘ from time to time.
not too often, i’m sad to say - i find this
place interesting! i might just have to
stick around. maybe visit more often. ‘

ℒℴ❤ℯ—- ;; THE ONE WHO CLAIMED A DEMON.
Timidly wavering to greet the equivocator who’s
tales of demons in the city had not fully reached
her trust. Breaching that barrier was quite the feat
and he did not seem to accomplish it. However a
simple hello would be cordial.
“T-Too see me like what?” Was there something
amiss or was she simply looking too deeply?
“But hello again”
‘ well -- just in
general, really! but i’m glad
you remember me. ‘
not that it’d be easy to ignore him, in all honesty. it
isn’t often that he runs into people he met once,
especially under the unusual circumstances from
before. which he doesn’t seem to notice or care about
-- but he can’t say he’s that happy to.

❝violence is simply unethical, if i must admit. though i appreciate
your confidence in my actions.❞ impressions of those statements
suggest something interesting. had he too faced experiences
similar to the scenario of police brutality? in ordinary cases, such
is used if the suspect is resistant or depicts an obvious retaliation
of the greatest kind. either he was wrongfully suspected as a
culprit or … this is repetitive pattern he was accustomed to. for
that reason alone, suspicions seemed to increase on him. she
simply can’t ignore that possibility any longer. was this being
intentional or accidental for coming with plausible suspicions? in
any case, there shows an interest of interrogating him in different
means.
actually … had he known she was already obtaining every answer
to her questions, then he may as well be using the shovel to dig
up the pit for his grave. lilac irises paid heed to his movements,
simply observing him as every word was spoken. usual patterns
are immediately picked up the moment she draws accustomed
to their presence. for example, the way someone speaks is a big
trait to note of a person. sometimes it is a trait that differentiates
them from others, other times … it’ll be used against them for
condemning them as the main target. ❝curiosity, you say? they
say curiosity is similar to ignorance—a blessing but also a
curse. hmm—i’d know if you were lying the second you have
such thoughts of harming me, zane.❞
that much she can immediately guarantee. his footsteps can never
tell any lies just as the dead tell no lies. which was a refreshing
thing to note about the differences between the living telling lies
and the dead who can’t tell no lies.
for now, he expresses no signs of wanting to display any actions
that may endanger her life. still, it expresses some concerns of
how his character is. not to mention the knowledge he carries …
almost as if he has already committed his own share of felonies.
either that or intellect holds truth to his words. no matter. one or
the other will do just fine which will continue budding into his
words, promptly peeling them away … one by one.
❝some people can’t help it? well, if being proud of their work is
reason enough for them to leave their mark … then being over-
confident would be excused. of course, this isn’t to say it holds
true for all who leave their mark. some artists tend to leave their
mark for the sake of drawing further attention while masking
themselves away by blending with society. i wonder, though …
have you heard of an interesting group?❞
in this case, it seemed familiar. almost as if she had to specify this
group as a group. a preferred term would be ‘family’. why? it’d be
difficult to assume this is the work of a single individual. the work
is far too consistent and the number of victims was not the same
as genecider’s work: she wasn’t the type to target for a constant
rate. in other words … these deaths were made in a large
proportion, almost at the same time. either the patterns are done
intentionally though it suggests it isn’t the work of one killer. but
a group or family being responsible.
well this is just a plausible theory naturally. she won’t stretch any
bigger details. who knows how he’d react … either a strong
feeling of knowing he’d respond like this or it’d turn into a worse
outcome.
❝you see … i don’t believe this case holds for a single culprit to be
responsible. let’s call it a group of the sorts. say a group commits
their crime, at a precise time, or even performs a killing of their
own in a day. the reports of the bodies aren’t located because the
corpses are relocated to another destination. i figured there was
something off with how we found the bodies instead of focusing on
the mark. but the mark alone, as i said … stretched a grand
attention to them. ah, the least you suspect … i suppose that’d be
like …
for you to have been the culprit this entire time? heh … of course,
i’m only joking around.❞
that was probably her biggest lie ever. she never jokes around.
‘ i can’t agree
with you more -- violence is barbaric and could
always be substituted for something else. i know
there are times where it’s unavoidable, but it’s
so meaningless sometimes and yet people just
love to use it. i’m lucky not to know anyone who does. ‘
he knows FULL well what he’s doing, his words putting more
focus on what suspicion is on him. he knows how to direct it away
from him, quite easily in fact, but really.. what fun would that be?
NONE. and zane is all about fun. his luck to get someone so
interesting, young yet far smarter than many investigators he’s
met -- and oh how many he’s met over the years.
none could catch her, so how could they ever dream to catch HIM?
she was not nearly able to talk like him, like a civilized person could,
let alone lie so smoothly. ..the fact she -- at the time -- only had one
life that could be taken from her is a major factor, but that’s besides
the point. what matters isn’t how many times you can die only to return,
but how you can continue that one life with words and actions; something
she could not do.
‘ i can’t argue,
curiosity is a curse, but it’s been helpful from time to time.
..mm? i’m more of a pacifist, and i think i’m too scrawny to
do any good when trying to hurt someone. ‘
that wasn’t a lie, as surprising as it might be. there’s been no time he’s
wished to get involved with violence -- it’s just his job. and he follows orders.
the accusation, however, catches his attention. focus on the family had
been evident for years, perhaps even before he was adopted ( more like
SOLD ) into it. a curious tilt of his head, the smile ever present on his face.
a mask to hide what he feels -- not panic, but almost what he would consider...
concern. not for himself, not for the family, but for her. odd, yes, but once
factoring in his interest for her.. it seems to make more sense.
if someone gets too close, they must be taken care of. it’d be a lie if he said
they didn’t have to off some investigators or cops as well. their ‘pure’ business
has to be kept a secret. while zane does detest violence quite a bit, he is
loyal to no fault. it’s his job to do as Father bids, and take care of those who
threaten them. what kind of big brother would he be if he didn’t...?
‘ well, those kinds
of groups aren’t too uncommon, are they? look back
in history and i’m sure you’ll find a good hand full or more,
most being cults or the sorts. perhaps a drug ring? or some
new found cult? ..then again, there’d need to be some sort
of similarity with the victims that could attach them to one of
those options. unless it’s all willy nilly. ‘
he wants to laugh, honestly, but he doesn’t -- while yes he’s done a good
portion of the killings are his, he can’t take all the credit. ...or, in this case, blame.
‘ oh, ms. detective,
it’s not good to joke around. you almost gave me a heart attack! ‘

“Why? You know MORE than twenty-six? Why say ‘only’? My exposure to
some is limited - I don’t have time to bite the skulls of every person who knows
a different dialect or pidgin variety - let alone know every language.”
“Humans are a sociable species.
You don’t exactly fit in if you don’t MIMIC them.
I could be mute really. But I would miss their faces when it comes to insult.”
‘ if i wanted
to, i COULD know more than twenty-six --
but i’m not sure i’d ever use them. after all
you always run into people that know the
same languages, y’know, the ones they teach
in schools and all. the only times i think i’d
use them would be when i’m working. ..but
i’m not supposed to talk then. ‘
‘ i’m not too
sure, why not just talk to insult them? wouldn’t
it be funny to see how they react to a presumed
mute person suddenly insult them? ‘
