Setsubun, Ehomaki
Today is "Setsubun" in Japan.
Tumblr media
This is the day "oni"(demons) comes to each home and we throw dry beans to get them out of the house. "鬼は外、福は内" is what we say when throwing the beans, meaning "oni get away, fortunes come inside."
I guess most of families with little kids do this event, and we do this as well with my husband dressing up as oni.
Ehomaki is another custom to do this event. It is a sushi roll and we eat this turning to the direction which they say fortunate, without any words during eating. It looks totally weird to see people eating ehomaki looking forward to one direction silently lol
Ehomaki and dry beans special for Setsubun day are available anywhere in Japan.
And yes, we eat dry beans as much as our age. Totally weird event!! lol

First Post for Keeping my Motivation
This is my very first post for my first tumblr account.
Here I record my learnings of English and English-Japanese translations to keep my studying motivation and study hard.
Any corrections and comments are so welcomed!
I am so happy if I can connect with those studying something or native English speakers.
I am not a student by the way, a mother to a 1yo boy. It's not so easy to find time to study while working and nursing, but I will do my best and will post at least one post each day here.
Thank you so much!!
