LIFELINES AND LEGACIES - A D&D inspired TS4 Legacy Challenge

Even though I’m not active, I wanted to start another legacy challenge, but I didn’t want to do a normal one. Since my friends and I play D&D and love it, why not take inspiration from there? And so here is the culmination of that little brainstorm! It’s my first time making a challenge like this, so hopefully it won’t be that bad. :D It’s a legacy challenge based on the Dungeons and Dragons classes!

Okay, Immediate thoughts on the Horse Ranch Expansion Pack
I’m pulling my information from the video above, the leaked pics and info here, and the blog post here.
First of all, i have to get this out of the way: I wish it was called Sims 4 Horsin' Around. Missed opportunity.
I won't lie: I wasn't one of the people clamoring for horses, either in Cats and Dogs or Cottage Living. But I'm still excited to have them join the game. And as I've before, splitting them off into the own packs can be a bit annoying, but it does allow the team to go deeper with them. Hopefully that's actually the case.
Speaking of which. Treating horses like cats and dogs was the right choice. I'm glad they're part of the family, unlike cows, llamas, and chickens. I'm glad they have the same customization options as dogs and cats. Although that does just highlight the need or a human CAS color wheel.
The world looks really nice. I'm glad to know it's 3 neighborhoods, but I am really curious about the amount of lots and their sizes. One of the neighborhoods is a national park. I'm hoping it's more like the Henford-on-Bagley wood area (where there are remote lots) rather then the national park from Granite Falls. And I do want a nice variety of lot sizes, especially the bigger ones for full ranches and farms.
The small goats and sheep are cute. Since you can actually sheer and milk them, I'm curious how they interact with other packs (Can we use sheep's wool for knitting?)

The Build and Buy look good. Fine. I've been iching for more (south)western decorations. I'm so glad we have a full kitchen set. I'm personally not the biggest fan of cow print everything but that's okay. I'm mostly excited for those barn doors and windows. Can't wait to make a Johanna Gaines/Fixer Upper TM inspired house.
Kinda the same opinion on the human CAS. Nothing really stood out as amazing but so far nothing horrendous. A lot of it really isn't my personal style, but that's okay. I think it fits the theme.
I'm SO relieved the team hired an Indigenous sensitivity reader, added specific Native American items to the pack, and are donating to the Sacred Healing Circle. That's really important, and I'm glad they took that step. I hope they continue to have these types of collaborations and input.
So we’re still doing the pre-order bonus content I see. Can they please stop that? I'm begging now.
Overall I'm glad we have this coming. It's surprisingly soon after Growing Together - I figured we wouldn't get anything until the fall/holidays. I'm hoping this ends up being worth $40.

Preparing for the Sims 4 Infants Patch
The Infants/Growing Together patch on Tuesday, March 14, will break a lot of mods and custom content. Some of what Tuesday's patch will break:
door, gate, baby, and bassinet CC
custom traits, aspirations, and preferences (likes/dislikes)
mods that change CAS-mode UI
mods that add to Live-mode Sim pie-menu subcategories, such as new or moved "Friendly" or "Mean" interactions (because this patch reorganizes the pie menu)
I'll have a new Broken Mods thread up Tuesday and will post a link to it here.
To prepare for the patch, back up your saves! (This is a good thing to do now and then anyway.) If you'd rather play your current save while you wait for creators to clear and update content, you can turn off automatic updates in the EA app and in Origin. If you're having issues with the EA app, Crinrict has posted FAQs about the EA app and about Sims 4 in the EA app.

Okay, Immediate thoughts on the Growing Together Expansion Pack
I’m pulling my information from the video above and here
I literally mentioned in the High School Years post that I truly believed the sims 4 was never going to do a generations pack. Well that’s egg on my face. Anyway, so pumped for this! Hopefully the gameplay works 🙃
So we’re still doing the pre-order bonus content I see. Can they please stop that?
I really want to learn more about the world since it’s so clearly San Francisco inspired. As a Bay Area native, I love to see us represented.
I’m so curious about the gameplay with milestones and the chemistry system. And what do they mean by “key choices.” Excited to learn more as we get closer to the release. I’ll truly add anything to give more meaningful daily interactions.
I’m very excited for the general vibes and color palette of this pack. Everything looks very cozy and put together. That sort of family traditional style.
The Build and Buy looks great! There are so many things to look at. Tree houses! Sleeping bags! Changing tables! More rocking chairs! Was that a fucking upright piano in the background of one shot?!? And the regular additions are also very nice. They remind me of the kind of furniture at Crate and Barrel.
The CAS looks really cute and cozy. However, I’m most drawn to the birthmarks. Could we give our sims vitiligo as well? As I’m in love with the infant glasses.
Like I said last time, I’m trying not to get too excited and get my hopes up. The sims does have a pattern of disappointing me. And we’ve experienced our fair share of broken packs. But I’m really routing for this one.

teases and concept art of new build/buy and gameplay content like dentures, bikes for kids, etc.
project rene, the “next generation” of the sims, is in very early development stages, will be both single and multiplayer, and will have cross-platform capabilities

hi whenever i tried to put your mystery shack build, my game automatically freeze and close by itself. do you know how to fix it?
Hi! So there's the bug with mannequins where if you try to place a lot with them included, your game crashes. And I completely forgot I had mannequins in that build to represent a big foot statue and the wax figures locked away. :/
I've re-uploaded the lot with no mannequins (plus a few adjustments) here. The link has also been changed on the posting on my blog and the original lot on the gallery has been removed.
Thanks for your patience on this. It turns out that I had deleted the lot ages ago and I had to go poking around my external drive for a summer 2020 backup with a sims 4 save that still have it placed. Because of course the bug also affects me. I love the sims.
Let me know if you have any more issues. And I hope you enjoy the build!

This contemporary thin home placed between older, traditional houses has all the amenities for a tech guru geek with a love for partying. Okay, Immediate thoughts on the High School Years Expansion Pack
I’m pulling my information from the video above and here
I’ve said for years, since Parenthood came out, that the sims 4 was never going to do a true generations pack. But as long as they expanded upon each life stage in BG updates or packs in ways that go deeper than previous games, I overall be okay with that. And teens have most certainly needed an update - they kinda suck in the sims 4 and have been barely distinguishable from young adults. And this exactly what I voted for in that survey a few years ago.
NGL I’m excited for this pack. I does look like they included a lot of features I’ve been wanting for a while. Classes, after school activities, and prom all would add so much to game play. Cheer-leading and football are here! And the boba is really cute.
I am a bit confused on the world logistics, and I definitely want to know. Is the school an actual building you can enter and interact with, or is it a rabbit hole like in Discover University? (And honestly same question with graduation). Is that carnival a neighborhood, locked/secret lot, area adjacent to another lot? What are the new lot types in this pack? And how big is this world?
All the build and buy I saw in the trailer looks really cute. The pieces look really trendy and varied in style. And i gotta love the new messy clutter.
The CAS looks SO cute. This might rival Discover University for best CAS. Both the casual and prom outfits look great.
I’m trying not to get too excited and get my hopes up. The sims does have a pattern of disappointing me. But these are features that I’ve wanted for years. I’ve excited to see the game play trailer and live stream. And here’s to hoping for the best!

Fun fact: this is the second pink not-so-berry home I’ve made. The first one is still up on my gallery (with the same name) and is an English cottage in Hendford-on-Bagley. But when My Wedding Stories was announced, I knew I had to have our unflirty, romance novel writer live in Tartosa.
