Headcanon that Jeremy generally does quite well in class compared to Michael because Michael has a hard time actually getting work done and turned in. Like literally CONSTANT executive dysfunction from him and he struggles with keeping his grades okay-ish because of it. But when it comes to big tests like finals and whatnot Jeremy has an AWFUL time compared to Michael. Like, Michael is usually pretty calm about exams because he knows he always does well on them. He's good at recalling what he's learned and making REAL good guesses when he can't remember stuff. Jeremy, however, always FREAKS OUT about tests. Realistically he knows that he knows the answers. He does well in class, so he should do well on the tests, right?? But he always gets way too nervous and just literally can't remember anything. Important tests make his head hurt.

And I think they kinda have to try and help each other deal with their problems. Like, Jeremy reminds Michael about assignments he's missing and sometimes just forces him to work on stuff. Also, just making sure Michael doesn't get way too distracted in class. Then when finals are coming up, Michael will always make a point to reassure Jeremy that he WILL do well and that he should STOP stressing because that will only make things worse. He'll also offer to study with him and stuff, just to try and make Jeremy a little more confident that he knows the content he needs to.
