Article on the M2 1001 roadster. This was a hardcore version limited to 300 units made by one of the designers of the normal car.

To be honest, when I finally got to meet the M2001, which had been rumored for so long, I was a little shocked. For example, if you look at the interior, the floor console has been removed and there is not even an ashtray. At the same time, it boasts a high quality feel that is incomparable to a normal roadster. Why?
The goal of this car is, frankly, a “lightweight sports car for the hardcore”. In a nutshell, Mr. Kei Tachibana, who was deeply involved in the development of the Roadster, and who is now the M2's top friend , made thorough changes to the parts of the Roadster that as a mass-produced car he was not satisfied with. In other words, it is a car that was built with personal passion. That was the M2 1001.
