i wasn't really intending on putting together a full story, i just thought that - with the information available to us in s1 - there was an interesting point of comparison between shadow's Entire Deal:tm: and rusty's situation and wanted to explore some of it! i have a major soft spot for characters who have been shaped into/used as weapons by others learning to break free of that

i also just wanted to include silver and blaze because they're some of my favourite sonic characters! and i felt they could fit in quite easily given my understanding of the setting at the time, but was pretty confident they wouldn't appear (which turned out to be true 😔)
