A little blurb concept for an AU or post canon I guess?
King had been so happy when he'd first gotten the call. The little star shaped phone he kept close in case he or the Collector wanted to talk was always floating nearby him. So when it finally chimed after almost a month of radio silence, King was ecstatic!
And it was great! The Collector had been just as excited as he was, recanting tales of his travels as he chatted. Then listening carefully as King shared his own stories. But then the Collector froze, his gaze drifting off to the side as an uncharacteristic horror flashed across the Starchild's face.
King felt his stomach drop. Something was wrong. "Collie?" The Collector glanced back at him. Their mouth opened and closed like they wanted to say something but couldn't find the words. "Collie, what's wrong." Whatever the Collector wanted to say was drowned out by static, but King could just barely make out the word, "Outsider" and the woosh of air over the phone. Then the image is cut, filling the screen with static.
He doesn't know what to think, what to do, so he tries to call the Collector again. And again. And again. And again, again, again, in a rising panic. The Starchild doesn't answer, nothing gets through. King feels his heart sinking. He needs help. So he gets up, running as fast as his little legs can carry him to the nearest person.

This is basically my hc for the Outsiders/World Eaters, so I freaking love it.
I kinda wanna hear a rhyme from the Collector about a race that is the embodiment or representation of the destructive side of the universe. Maybe black hole type creatures from beyond their reality that sneak up on unsuspecting cosmic beings and make them vanish. No one knows what happens, only that unless you find some kind of remains of their victims and put the pieces together fast enough to flee, you won’t know they’re there until it’s far too late. This rhyming song is a warning all young cosmic beings; Collectors, Archivists, etc.

Note: Solitary confinement is what the Collector, a child, went through for thousands if not millions of years. Includes a range of things but for sure isolation and sensory deprivation.
It can cause a host of problems, like anxiety, depression, psychosis, s/cidal thoughts, s/lf h/rm, and make existing mental illnesses worsen. It can even impact physical health but I don't remember how off the top of my head.
And let's not forget this doesn't count his existing trauma from losing his friends. Let's consider that too.
Okay I know some people were like "Why did The Collector just, like, change personality a little bit between season two and three?", but honestly, I feel like it's expected for someone who's been basically tortured for the past few hundred/thousand/million(???) years to be a little less unstable after. Not longer being tortured.

Based on what we got? Maybe not.
If the crew were given time to properly input the Collector alongside all the other stuff? He could actually play an interesting role for King.
Like, if he was meant to be an ancient being sealed away since the Titans walked the world then he could have been a connection to the Titans for King. For example, after spending time with Titans, he would know something about their culture or magic. King could figure out Titan magic himself eventually, but how much of his own culture would he find after that long?
So the only question I’ve got for the fandom is,  “Was the Collector still necessary?”

The last hide and seek
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just want to give a bit of depth in the Collector-Archivists relationship, in my headcanon, as they are siblings(all kinds of siblings relationships are the best relationships dynamics and I'm gonna explore them even if I don't have nearly any material on them). Pointing that they used to be actually siblings, doing siblings stuff together, spending quality or not time, expressing in any way their concern for each other, even if it wasn't always nobel and caring reasons. They are terrible creatures, but still they are older siblings so they should behave like ones and use this knowledge to achieve what they want.
I'm not fan of black and white "The archivist were just terrible jerks with lack of any emotions or bond with Collector. They just saw them as tool and leaving them for Collector was just nice and easy choice. Colly even didn't hesitate to leave them as they realized all bad shit was their fault" idea. I prefer " Their relationship is as complex as trying to imagine 4th dimension without any computer simulation - full of uphills and downhills, eldritch god's conventions and attempts to keep everthing in good shape even if the ceiling was falling on their heads. Leaving the archivists for Collector was actually a very tough and devastating choice. Meaning leaving everything they knew, understood, found safe, "caring", familiar, all their good and bad memories, childhood, stability in conclusion family which whether good or bad always was somewhere nearby and they could hide behind when there was a need. They had to choose it after realisation what they all participated in and how morally "not ok" it was, how bad they felt with themselves after discovering it and how much they didn't want to do it again ", aka. ✨Dramat✨. Black and white type of a relationship/character is cool, but for me it needs full presentation of character/relationship( like Jack Horner from Puss in boots), not only short and simplified story without even appearance of characters we talked about.
In summary and in less overly complicated way to say this I mean: I want Archivists and Collector to have actually dysfunctional siblings relationship instead of shity coworkers or strangers which were put together in a closed room and forced to cooperate.
And I have to make a "map" of types of relationship between each of "siblings of the collapsing star"-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really need to do something with all: my devices, my drawing program and mostly with myself because I'm loosing my patience with them and my work looks worse and worse- and there are less excuses than ever(only money)! - sorry for all the time complaining it's the trait that runs through my veins for generations and I fight to end it!
In description of the pictures are the words in tooltips, because my handwriting is a nightmare from which I can't wake up and win.
Some wips of a Starchild/Collector life cycle chart I did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And some details:
1: ???
- I haven't given a name to this stage, but tbh I kinda wanna call this one "Stardust Bunnies" as a cute or affectionate term. This is one that is rarely seen, as they usually only exist at the hearts of stars. They can survive without a star but for much, much shorter time than any other stage could because they don't have a true core even formed yet.
2.1: Adult
-Most common, sometimes referred to as a starborn or starforged. They live inside the hearts of their stars until they're fully developed adults and usually have all the necessary knowledge to survive on their own.
-Adults make up the majority of Collectors and usually run collection missions.
2.2: Child
- Born without a star from converging energy, magic and matter produced by different celestial events or bodies that aren't stars. Considered uncommon though whether it's because they die young before imprinting on a star or are simply just more rare hasn't been confirmed yet.
-Their growth rate is entirely determined by how they mature emotionally or mentally.
-Stage of childhood is determined entirely by the amount of energy and magic that created them. The less there was, the younger they appear. Eventually they become full-fledged adults of their species.
-Usually not involved in collecting, but this varies based on each cluster.
3: Elder
- Adults become Elders through natural aging alongside their stars, but they can also reach this stage sooner by absorbing energy or magic from other stars or Starchildren.
-The Elders are the ones in charge of guiding the younger Starchildren and keeping peace within their cluster's territory. They also tend to manage the cluster's Family Archive.
-Act as a sort of backup if the adults cannot handle a situation. If things look dicey for the adults, the elders will step in as their power tends to be much, much greater.
4.1: Ancients
-Occur from a metamorphosis triggered by the death of their star. If the star creates a new one, they'll usually bond with it, but some find different stars entirely. If they bond with a star far from their cluster, they will simply move the new one to their original star's place to stay in the cluster.
-These are Collectors who basically cheat death. They are a sort of demigod presence among their society.
-Can experience a second metamorphosis if the star dies and creates a black hole.
-The primary caregivers to new and young Starchildren in their cluster. They also function as the guardians of their territories and fend off hostile forces, namely rogue Outsiders.
4.2: Outsiders or World Eaters
-Like Ancients, they come from a metamorphosis triggered by the death of their star. If a star collapses into a black hole, a Collector becomes this.
-They have a near insatiable appetite and will eat anything in their paths, including their own family members or their stars.
-Some keep sane by consuming enough energy to stifle the hunger but it is a constant fight. Other Collectors may share power to prevent their sibling from being lost.
-Ancients are the best defense against a World Eater, but a large enough or clever enough group of Elders can handle them if needed.
5: Fading/Deconstruction
-The true death of a Starchild. When their star dies, the residual energy transfers to their core. But when that energy begins to dwindle, they become cold. Their bodies freeze and slowly break apart into ice and dust. It is a long, long process.
HC: King is the short one well into his teens so he's ecstatic when he finally gets to be the tall one. The Collector opts not to mention that he's technically the size of a small planet now cause King just seems so happy.
Ikr? It's soooo eerie but sooo cool!! Fitting for an ancient race of space dwelling eldritch beings.
Collector/Titan headcanons? :0
Oh heck yeh!
- The Collectors have some eldritch aspects to them; one of these being that no mortal can look directly into their eyes without risk, as the person’s mind and senses will be scrambled/overwhelmed as if the cosmic eyes were boring into their very soul.
- I saw someone (I wanna tag em but I forgor their username) bring up a headcanon of theirs that if you beat a Collector in a game, they’ll be bound to do any favor you ask of them.
- Promises between Collectors and other beings have actual weight and power behind them, which is part of why our Collector puts so much emphasis on pinky swears.
- Both Titans and Collectors have the ability to control if or not they’re affected by language barriers - especially with mortals. As a young Titan/Collector’s magic strengthens and develops, so too does their capacity to tap into an understanding of all different languages.
- Referring to the previous one, our Collector chose to keep this power closed off so they could learn English from Belos - as he knew they would need to talk to each other a lot if they were to work together, and if any Collector were to speak their cosmic god language to a mortal, the words being processed through the person’s ears and mind would overwhelm them to the point of an intense headache and feeling of dizziness.
- If a really young Titan child sees you as a potential threat, and you want to show you mean no harm, you need only to bow down below the Titan’s current stature, as being at a higher stature will trigger a sense of safety within a Titan child and dissipate any fear of you. A Titan fully grows out of this instinct in their adolescent years.
- In the days before Titans were mostly wiped out, parts like their skulls, horns and fur were believed to contain magical properties and were highly sought after by some. Nowadays, these beliefs are still somewhat prevalent among the Titan Trappers.
Listen. Consider.
Collector language sounds like a more complex, musical version of that Gargantuan Leviathan from a Subnautica mod.
This is part of a larger image I'm making but works for this round of headcanons. Behold, an elder Archivist!!
Tumblr media
Ignore the random red line. I got mad trying to find what layer it was on and gave up looking when I took the screenshot. Now, HC time.
-This is the 4th one.
-Elder Archivists take on some avian features, usually wings but sometimes random feather patches also appear. All archivists have the feather crests around their ears though.
-Unlike the younger members of their species, they don't usually get involved with collecting. Rather, they defend their territories in space, keep peace among their family unit, raise half formed Starchildren (ones who were not formed as adults like the Collector), scout unclaimed planets or territory with their adolescent siblings, and at least one will serve in the Archivist council to represent their system.
-The 4th was the scout originally, then became a representative when their Eldest sibling passed away. Their position was then taken over by the Lunar Archivist.
-The 4th would often take care of the Collector when the Eldest was busy as the 2nd was never too fond of him and let the kid fly off into empty space on multiple occasions. After becoming a representative, they had no time for the youngest sibling.
more Acolyte King AU stuff , with Collector this time lol
The Boiling Isles gets turnt into less of a playground and more of LARPing of knights, coliseums and tournaments to the death , King is really just trying to find what is the greatest way to rule the Isles , but his temperament n own unresolved trauma is obviously gonna cloud his mindset, he no longer agrees to destroy witches but he´s been exposed to violence his whole life, Collector follows along because they listen to each other, doesnt mean its good to enable eachother´s mental illnesses but ok , they are trying.
Yo, here's my Owl House fanfic thing. Have at it.
-----------
In which the Collector suspects Belos plans to destroy his tablet instead of freeing him on the Day of Unity. So he takes matters into his own hands, befriending a coven scout and convincing them to free him. But something goes wrong, and he's left chained to the mirror, powerless but finally able to interact with the world again.
So he takes his tablet and runs as far as he possibly can. He needs to find help. Find someone who can free him all the way. What he needs is a Titan, and he'll find one no matter what. He'll just have to find one while hiding from Belos. If there's two thing the Collector is good at, it's finding things and hiding.
The Collector gets free much earlier than in canon and tries his best to escape his tablet on his own. It's hard to do when your a powerless cosmic god with trust issues though.
