Well, you delivered with this one!
I can’t say that I can recall any fics where Lady inherits her mother’s eye color. The change definitely came as a surprise for me-though not an unwelcome one, mind you- and it would be interesting to see what such a drastic change would do to her character. It could potentially develop a new backstory for her, assuming this AU consists of any similarities to canon, that she has any type of relationship with Arkh*m if so, or if he even makes an appearance for that matter. I mean, she could’ve just been adverse to the sudden change in eye color due to her loving how her eyes were originally, but idk... I feel like it could tie into him being a basic bitch somehow, too, especially when there was such a striking contrast in how she depicted her eyes after she saw that they changed.
I also could just be projecting because I hate him so much and he will always do wrong in my eyes regardless if he’s actually in a story or not.
Dante being the only (possibly full-blooded) demon amongst the trio was another thing that I don’t see quite often, and for you to make him a prince wanting Lady to be his queen, well... That was just the whipped cream on top of the DxL Strawberry Shortcake, now wasn’t it? 💖💖
I really did enjoy this fanfic as well as its concept and, with your writing especially, I feel that you could take this places if you did choose to continue it. And if you don’t, well then, hey, it’s still perfect as a stand alone!
DantexLady Week Day 4: Supernatural
Author’s Note: Can’t believe we are about halfway done. Even though there are no deadlines, I apologize for this being late. For context on this one: This is an AU.
Warning: None (but let me know if there is)
~
“Come on babe, it’s not that bad.”
Marys’s eye twitched for what felt like the twelfth time today, and she felt another headache coming along.
Oh, why she of all people did this have to happen to?
She should have never gone to that college party, she didn’t even like college parties.
But her roommate Trish refused to let her spend another weekend in her dorm studying. Her words being “Come on! We are in college, live a little!”
Knowing that Trish would never leave her alone for the rest of the night, she relented and went to the party.
It went exactly as she expected.
The music was too loud, there were way too many drunk people and the music was not her taste, to say the least.
She spent the first 45 minutes sitting on the couch just observing the drunk actions of her fellow college students who she didn’t know.
Eventually, it got too boring, and not wanting to waste her phone battery, she made her way down to the basement.
It was dark, stinky, and filled with way too many people. They were all jumping and dancing to even louder music.
She instantly felt a headache coming on.
She headed back up the stairs. She would just have to find Trish and let her know that she had an early shift at work or something and she needed to head to bed.
The only problem is that she had no idea where Trish was. She searched all around the house but to no surprise to anyone, it was very hard to find a specific person at a poorly lit, late-night, crowded college party.
She eventually found herself outside in the backyard. There was a group of people huddled in a corner. Morbid curiosity brought her over to the group and she looks to see them hovering over a bunch of different rocks and sticks in a strange order.
“What are you guys doing?” she asked, knowing she would probably regret it.
“We’re trying to summon a demon!!!” a very intoxicated classmate of hers announced.
“Why?”
“Because it will do whatever we ask for!” the same person shouted. Was his name Mark? Or Matt? She was sure that it started with an M.
“I want to be president!” a girl to her right shouted.
“I want it to go to work and classes fr me so I can relax for the rest of my life!” another guy to her immediate left shouted.
“And how do you know it will do that for you?” Mary asks, almost amused.
“It says it all in this book!” the same girl shoved the book into her arms. Mary squinted at the book, finding it hard to read anything with the lack of light.
She was just about to tell them how ridiculous they were being when the sound of sirens interrupted her. Panicked, the people around her took off, knocking over their pathetic display of rocks and sticks. She almost laugh but had no time as she also ran off into the night.
The last thing she needed was to be arrested.
She didn’t stop running until she found her way back to her dorm, slamming and locking the door. She hoped Trish made it out alright.
She sighs and tosses the book onto her bed.
Wait, book?
She groans when she realizes she is still holding that stupid book.
She should have thrown it out. But that would have been the smart thing to do and why would she do the smart thing?
She flipped through the book open, just to find this magical wish-granting demon. Luckily, the corner of the page was folded so it did not take her long to find it.
The chapter told of a demon prince, who goes by the name Dante to humans, who tends to come to earth either by a summon or simply for fun to grant their humans their greatest desire.
“He is in search of queen so that he can earn the throne to rule of the demon realm,” Mary reads out loud “before his twin brother named Vergil. He has said to make deals with hundreds of women but only ends up eating their souls as they do not meet his standards. The brother continues to battle for the throne in combat but they will join together if anyone else tends to threaten their kingdom.” Mary chuckles “What a load of crap…”
She tosses the book into her desk and changes her clothes into her pajamas. “Imagine needed a demon to make my life interesting or to get what I want…I can do that on my own.” She sighs and turns out the light, “How stupid…”
~ Do you really think it’s that stupid?
Yes, it is, people should do things for themselves.
Come on, there is got to be something you want that that you know you can’t get yourself.
Well…
I can do it for you~ Yeah, right.
Trust me?
…Okay.
~ The next morning, she woke up from her odd dream to Trish standing over her, smirking down at her.
“What…?” Mary says, wiping the sleep out of her right eye. “Do you need something…?” “Did you enjoy the party?” Trish asks, her smirk somehow widening.
“No, it was terrible like I thought it was,” Lady says, slightly confused about why she was smirking.
“Oh, I guess you had more fun outside of the party.” Trish teases and pointed to something behind her.
Or should she say, someone.
She turned to find a moderately attractive, shirtless man with white hair and snow-white skin in her bed, snoring loudly.
She begins to stutter, freezing with her hand still on her right eye, trying to figure out who this guy is and why he was in her bed. Before she could even get a word in, Trish waved her off.
“No need to explain, I’ll leave you two alone. Have fun~”
Mary started blankly forward as she closed the door to their dorm.
“Your roommate knows what is up!’ the mysterious man said before Mary smacks him with her pillow.
She jumps out of the bed and continues to smack him with a pillow.
“Hey! Hey! Hey!” He grabs the pillow and pulls it out of her grasp.
“What are you doing here, pervert?!” Mary shouted.
“Pervert? Excuse me, you summoned me!”
“Summoned…what?! Get out of here before I call the cops!” Mary shouts.
“Oh, like cops could take down a demon!”
“A demon?” Mary paused, looking him over. He definitely did not look like a demon, “Wait are you…Dante…? wait, wait, don’t give me your stupid lie about why you are here, just get out!”
“I’m not lying! And I’ll prove it!” the mysterious stranger announced.
Then something happened that even though she saw it. Then a blinding white light popped out of him and suddenly before her was a giant black demon. It had long black wings and horns with bright red lava-like light peeked out of every corner of his body.
“Oh my god…” Mary stared at the gigantic demon before her, wondering vaguely if his horns would scrap the ceiling. “Oh my god, turn back, turn back.”
Dante, surprisingly did as he was told, and turned back into what she assumed is his human form.
“See? I told you! Let me officially introduce myself. I am the demon prince Dante, son of Sparda! At your service.” Dante said as he took a bow. “And you are?
“Why are you in my dorm?!” Mary screamed.
“Weird name.”
“Not funny, answer the question.”
Dante chuckles “I told you, you summoned me!”
“But I didn’t! It was those drunk guys last night!”
“Yeah, but they were too boring, you, however, interested me. You read my story and your desire is pretty cool, I mean wanting to–”
“Listen! I don’t want anything, especially anything that a demon can give me.” Mary said as she held her face in her hands.
“Come on, babe, it’s not so bad.” Dante said, “It’s a two-way street, I give you what you want and you give me what I want.” “How is that supposed to convince me to want to deal with you? No, no I refuse. I’m not doing it. You can’t make me.” Mary said, her confidence oozing through her word.
“Too late,” Dante said cheekily.
Mary’s frown deepened. “The hell those that mean?”
“Check the mirror.”
Mary ran to the long mirror attached to the door that led to the bathroom she and Trish shared with another dorm. She examined her body for some kind of symbol or mark before making eye contact with her reflection.
She had inherited her mother’s beautiful green eyes with a hint of blue in them. She always loved her eyes.
Now her right eye was a bright horrible dark red. As she looked deeper, she saw that her pupil turned into this strange shape that matched the symbol in the book she saw the night before.
“Pretty dope right?–Hey! Hey! Quit smacking me! This is not how you treat demon royalty!” Dante shouted as he jumped back onto Mary’s bed, using her pillow to defend himself.
“Change my eye back! And get out! I did not agree to this!”
“You did in your sleep!”
“That does not count, you freaky dream invader!” Mary shouted as she swung at him, sadly only hitting the pillow. “I want out! I want out!”
“Sorry babe, there is no way. The only way out is for me to eat your soul,” he said with a shrug.
“Oh perfect! How convenient! Wonderful!” She groaned and turned away from her. She wrapped one arm around her waist and rested her head in her other palm.
“Come on babe–”
“Stop calling me babe!”
“Then give me your name!”
“Call me Lady because I sure as hell ain’t giving you my name!” Mary shouted as she turned back to him, dropping her arms to her sides.
“I’m not a fae, I don’t steal names!” Dante said, in a matter-of-fact voice that made her want to smack him again.
“You will call me Lady and that is it! You work for me now right! You have to do what I say so shut up for five minutes!” Dante simply shrugged.
“God, okay I need to think. I could not do this and have my soul eaten now or do this and have my soul eaten later.”
“Correct, if you do this, I won’t eat your soul!” Dante chimes in.
“Excuse me?”
“Oh, right. I’m not supposed to talk.” Dante replies innocently and makes the ‘zip my lips’ motion.
“No, I mean what do you mean you won’t eat my soul. … You can talk now.”
“Just that Lady, I won’t eat your soul if you do this.”
“Why?” “Because,” Dante says with a smirk “I want you to be my queen.” “…What?” “I like you. I think you would make a great demon queen. So what do you say?” Dant asks while sticking his hand out to shake. “You will get everything you want and you get to be an immortal demon queen at the end. So what do you say?”
Every fiber in Mary was shouting at her not to do this, to call his bluff because he had to be bluffing. There was no way he could do that while she was sleeping, right? She should take the gamble.
But on the other hand…
Maybe this won’t be so bad.
She grabs his hand, “Fine, let’s do this.” Mary shakes his hand “But the first thing we are doing is getting contacts.”
~ Author’s Note: Let me know if you guys like this AU and if you want more. If I would continue it, it would definitely be a slow-burn chapter fic with a classic strangers to friends to lovers trope.
