The End of The Line
What would someone do if they found out your beloved girlfriend cheated on you? Well, Yoo Jeongyeon is gonna experience by hand.
Tumblr media
As Yoo Jeongyeon steps out of the cab and to her neighborhood, she was greeted by the house she bought with Nayeon, mostly blue and white, two storey house, the color was of Nayeon's choice, actually the whole house was her choice, from the choice of land to the plants, all her choice.
Jeongyeon thinks back, they met because Nayeon attended a wedding in Daegu where she was finishing up her last year in med school.
Jeongyeon happened to be invited seeing as she was a friend of the groom and they met in the reception and hit it off.
For the whole week of Nayeon's stay in London, they went on little dates that they didn't had the courage to call 'dates'.
When it was time for Nayeon to go, Jeongyeon found a bit of courage in her, that would probably make the Gryffindor Harry Potter proud, and asked her out to try. Although it was an awkward conversation;
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
"I mean you don't have to, I just wanted to tell you I like like you."
"I mean that maybe we can try..? I-if you're up to it o-ofcourse."
Although Nayeon saved her from further embarrassment by kissing her cheek and saying they can try.
Her heart never beat fast. For 5 months they talked through every possible means. And when she finally saved enough since most of her part time salary went to her school obligations, she took the earliest flight to Seoul and took Nayeon to a real official date.
While they were on the said date she was having a hard time asking her to be hers. Until it was finally at night, they ate takoyaki from a food stall area. As Nayeon ate silently on the bench they sat on she contemplated on how to ask the question. But before she could, Nayeon (just like she did on the airport) asked her a question.
"So.. when are you going to ask me to be your girlfriend?"
She said so with a smile, she made her heart stop and on that night they became official.
A day before her departure, she had dinner at her family home and Nayeon's parents favored her.
Jeongyeon smiled, she heard the sound of the cab driving off, indicating that there was no turning back now, she began to walk to the house and opened the gate to go in and into the house with her key.
She sighed as she took her coat off, Seoul was fairly cold but ever since October it had been worse. She put her leather brown coat on the rack before taking her shoes off and going inside. She always viewed the house as home, tranquil with silence that he loved, but for now the house, felt dull.
Nayeon and her were a great couple, neither were too controlling yet neither were too cold. It was perfect, Jeongyeon had thought, there was a running headcanon on her head that doctors should date lawyers and she couldn't believe she is dating one now.
"I knew you'd make it, see? Don't sell yourself short Jeongie, because I don't." Nayeon said through the screen of Jeongyeon's computer, it was their usual skype sessions, they were discussing about her upcoming graduation.
"It's not a big deal, not like I'm the only one who graduated." Jeongyeon shrugged as she put on a sleeveless tee before sitting down on her study table to see the screen as she dried her hair with a towel.
"Not a big deal?! You're a Cum Laude in Scientia Experimentali! I'm so gonna brag about that soon enough."
Jeongyeon chuckled at her girlfriend, "Yeah yeah I'm a genius."
"My genius girlfriend, I'm so lucky." Nayeon smiled and Jeongyeon has never seen anything more beautiful.. and sexy- noting the fact that her girlfriend was wearing a camisole for a top and was laying on her front on her bed, her cleavage was noticeable. "Perv." Although she didn't made any effort to cover her cleavage.
Jeongyeon chuckled, "Anyways have you picked a hospital already?" Nayeon asked her.
"Hmm, not yet, I'm kinda torn which hospital, DCU or KUD."
"Hmm, if I were you I'd choose Daegu Catholic University Hospital they got a good name going." Nayeon suggests, "Say, did you got a recommendation in different cities?"
"Yeah, Busan but nah, I hate the people there." She laughed.
"I still really don't get why you hate Busan so much. It was just one guy who fought with you," Nayeon shook her head before thinking. "How about.. Seoul?"
"Seoul?" Nayeon nodded, "I don't have a recommendation there tho, but maybe I could try to apply." Jeongyeon said nonchalant.
Nayeon beemed, "You really should! Seoul has nice thing going for medicine and we get to see each other!"
Nayeon put a seed on her head, about moving to Seoul and doing her residency there. She gave a lot of pros that tempted her to say yes.
But her original plan was to stay in Daegu and get her family there, since their in her hometown, Suwon. she doubts her parents would want to be in Seoul instead.
But somehow, she found herself talking to her professor about Seoul.
It worked out, she was accepted for residency at Seoul, her only problem was the familiarity and housing. Although she already stayed in Seoul a couple of times because of Nayeon, she still wasn't confident in knowing the city back to back and for the housing she found a humble apartment, although Nayeon told her that she could just stay at hers.
And so she did her residency in Seoul and finished it there, with the money she saved up and Nayeon's they build a house together to take their relationship in the next level.
Jeongyeon heard the door opened and came in Nayeon.
"You're back..! That was fast." Nayeon said shocked.
'Guilty.' Jeongyeon thought.
"Something came up." She shrugged before walking towards the kitchen to open a bottle of liquor she bought with her.
Nayeon followed her, "How were the others?" She asked.
"Good." She gave a short answer, she didn't even turned around to face her, she just poured herself a drink.
"Something wrong?" Nayeon asked going closer to where she stood up, bringing her hands to her shoulder before softly massaging her.
Jeongyeon kept quiet, she still didn't know how to do.. this.
It's not like everyday you find out your girlfriend is cheating on you.
Jeongyeon filled her glass halfway before drinking it in one go, she still wanted to drink but she knew she at least need to keep a clear head today.
She shrugged Nayeon's hand before walking to their room upstairs. Behind her Nayeon called and followed seemingly baffled.
But she was far from it, she somehow felt what was wrong, how the growing pit in her stomach grew, she knew what was troubling him.
Nayeon found Jeongyeon rummaging through their wardrobe, probably looking for a change of clothes since she was still dress in uncomfortable clothes.
"Jeongyeonie.. talk to me."
Jeongyeon froze where she stood, she closed the wardrobe before walking towards the window to open it, she felt suffocated, like she couldn't breathe and her chest tightening.
"How long?" She manage to ask.
"...Not long."
"How long?" This time it was more firm, anger beginning to shroud her.
For the first time Nayeon felt nervous around her, scared, "6 or 7 months." She answered honestly.
Jeongyeon scoffed, "Great job you manage to make a fool out of me for so long."
"Jeongyeon-ah.. it was nothing, they were nothing! You're the one I love, they were just.." Nayeon couldn't find the words to say.
"Nothing? You love me? Nayeon if you love me you wouldn't cheat on me! That's not how love fucking works!"
Nayeon flinch, Jeongyeon barely cuss and almost never shouted at her.
"I ended it. I just did."
"Why? Because you found out I was gonna propose?" Jeongyeon scoffed before walking pass her (Nayeon flinch, thinking she was gonna hit her) and opening her drawer to retrieve a red velvet box.
She throw it on the bed, "There, you can ask them to marry you. I'm done." She said which alarmed Nayeon.
Jeongyeon started walking towards the door, she also took her wallet from the drawer, thinking she should stay at a hotel first before taking her things here and maybe moving back to Daegu or Suwon. Her sharp mind was already making a plan for her in a short time.
Nageon quickly grabbed her, "Wait! Please Jeongyeonie hold on, let's fix this."
"We wouldn't have to fix this Nayeon. What did I do wrong? What do they have that I don't? Are they better? In bed? Cause fuck, I can't think what I did wrong."
"You didn't do anything wrong! I'm at fault, I'm a bitch. But Jeong please, don't leave me! I can't lose you, not you, please, I promise I'll change!" Nayeon begged, tightening her grip on her arm.
Nayeon was sobbing- no she was crying, gasping for air, headache was currently brewing on her head making her dizzy.
Jeongyeon felt Nayeon's grip on her weaken, she was gonna pull her arm when her gasping became louder.
She dropped her things on the ground before carrying Nayeon and laying her down on the bed, "Nayeon calm down you're having a panic attack." She said before opening up all the windows in the room.
"D-don't leave." Nayeon said, clutching the edge of her clothes.
Jeongyeon sighed, her anger for her keeps on growing, but despite that, her love for her won.
"I won't.. Atleast for now." She said, "Take deep and steady breaths. I'll get a glass of water." She gently took her hands off her before going down to the kitchen to retrieve a glass and pitcher and returning back quickly.
"Here, slowly." She help her drink while rubbing her back.
She sat on a single arm chair in front of Nayeon. Jeongyeon caressed her temple.
"Jeong.."
"I can't do this, Nayeon."
"I know."
"I've decided to go back to Daegu. For now I'll stay in the guest room if that's okay, just until I fix everything for when I move." She spoke, she try not to look at her.
"You decided fast," Nayeon mumbled, even she knew how fast her mind works, "I can't change your mind?"
"No, I don't think so."
"I'm so sorry."
"..."
She didn't or rather couldn't say anything.
Maybe it's over.
She couldn't forgive someone who brokes her trust and cheats on her.
She just couldn't.
