Something to talk about 4...mp4 from Vijay Sharma, PhD on Vimeo.
This video is a part of the series, “Learn better to earn better!” by the author Vijay Sharma, Ph.D., D.P.C., M.C.P. In this short video, about 6 minutes, entitled “Something to talk about … And getting your point of view or agreement…” is based on the quote “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” - Benjamin Franklin. This video compares and contrasts the pros and cons of education, as a tool for getting knowledge, and the consequences in its absence. A popular adage lends credence to the same thoughts about education, stating, “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.” -Anonymous. The above second quote is proverbial now. Since the saying has been attributed to too many and the credit denied by a few, per quoteinvestigator.com/2016/05/03/expense/ (last checked July 20, 2021), the author has left it as Anonymous, meaning, full credit to whosoever is the real originator of the quote to let it be added to his/her good Karmas! Relying on returns on investment (ROI), based on Benjamin Franklin’s quotes requires a brief introduction about Benjamin Franklin and his monumental contributions. Though the name Benjamin Franklin, as One of the Founding Fathers of the USA, needs no introduction, especially in the USA, some mention of his contributions deserves your kind attention. Benjamin Franklin is quite famous as One of the Founding Fathers of the USA, signatory on the Declaration of Independence and the American Constitution. He is the only founding father to have signed all four of the key documents establishing the U.S.: The Declaration of Independence (1776), the Treaty of Alliance with France (1778), the Treaty of Paris establishing peace with Great Britain (1783), and the U.S. Constitution (1787). He pioneered and was the first president of the Academy and College of Philadelphia which opened in 1751 and later became the University of Pennsylvania, thus, his entitlement as the Founder of The University of Pennsylvania. He is also famous for the lightning rod, bifocals, and Franklin stove inventions, among other things. This video, while examining the Pros-and-Cons in investing in knowledge and the drawbacks of a lack of investing in knowledge details an overview of ways and means of gaining the knowledge, its benefits once invested in, and drawbacks without investment(s). Some examples of the best interest served by knowledge via education, though many, list a few of those while suggesting the drawbacks in the failure to invest in knowledge. Such comparison reveals education of paramount importance, playing a pivotal role in getting knowledge in safe ways, and is the recommended investment for the best returns! Some have extolled imagination over knowledge and a relationship between these two has been explained suggesting that a meaningful imagination survives only based on knowledge. Knowledge-backed imagination eventually fosters creativity leading to inventions and innovations, which can mean more money and the earning potential(s). The video then examines the crux of the matter, through a “What if” scenario, though the knowledge was gained but was not available when needed or needed the most? Many can testify to this happening that during a test/examination, but were unable to answer the questions asked. Forgetfulness is the culprit for the failure. This example suffices to lay out the basic necessity of sharpening ones’ memory. The video also details the difference between mere memory to a sharpened memory and takes to the point that though knowledge is very important, its retention is even more important for its proper use, such as a bigger dollar amount of paycheck, improved GPA, fame, and so on. Another upcoming video in the series, “Learn better to earn better” will explain the way for a self-appraisal of ones’ memory to avoid the pitfall of complacent, self-assurance, relying on a “Good Enough Concept.” It cautions against such misleading euphoria and its damage to many multi-million and multi-billion-dollar companies. A video link detailing such losses is presented below: youtube.com/watch?v=zIIBdjbFS1c The video concludes that human memory can be sharpened and the tool (an eBook) copies for $9.99 can be bought at the links given below: amazon.com/dp/B00B8KEI9U smashwords.com/books/view/284132 itunes.apple.com/us/book/x/id93159 itunes.apple.com/us/book/x/id93159 store.kobobooks.com/en-US/ebook/simple-and-not-so-simple-proven-ways-to-sharpen-memory overdrive.com/media/200403/simple-and-not-so-simple-proven-ways-to-sharpen-memory barnesandnoble.com or for Nook; Type in the eBook title at the search section on their website as Simple and Not So Simple Proven Ways to Sharpen Memory to buy a copy
