Drowcember| Días 29 y 30: Gema y Deidad | Ojo de la Diosa

¡Juro que no estoy haciendo trampa! Me ha parecido interesante simplificar la forma de la gema para incluir el tema divino. Además, siempre he sentido que los dioses incognoscibles son los más atrapantes. Una diosa imposible de representar.

Drowcember | Día 24: Tarot/Simbolismo | Sacerdotisa

"Más desde adentro: el objeto sin nombre que nace y se pulveriza en el lugar en que el silencio pesa como barras de oro y el tiempo es un viento afilado que atraviesa una grieta y es su sola declaración" — Alejandra Pizarnik.

Pensaba utilizar este dibujo para el día 31 (con motivo de "sacerdotisa"), pero me di cuenta de que calzaba super bien para uno de los (muchos) días que me faltan. En este caso, el día 24 que corresponde al tarot/simbolismo.

Me gusta pensar a esta diosa como algo extinto, que vive en el rito de las cosas. La adoración a su figura no tiene que ver tanto con ella, como con sus feligreses. Las sacerdotisas construyendo un rito en torno a algo inasible, incomprensible. Pero la diosa vive en el rito mismo, como vive en los hilos de la historia.

Final drawing I'm doing for Drowcember, as hosted by the ever amazing @leidensygdom. Day 30 was Deities and Gods, and decided to give a hint into the Drow Pantheon of my world, known as the Six Sacred Fists. Kiaransalee serves as the Fist of Benevolence, and is the Goddess of Death and Guide to the Afterlife. Basically retooled her to be more my setting's version of Charon from Greek Mythology. Also, considering the name of the pantheon is a big reference to Fist of the North Star, specifically the Nanto Rokusei Ken, Kiaransalee is in fact blind and her scars on her eyes, which she got in the battle to overthrow Lolth, are infact inspired by Shuu from the same manga. Because of her blindness, many priests and priestesses of Kiaransalee either wear ceremonial blindfolds or voluntarily blind themselves.

I want to say it has been fun to get into drawing once more, especially with Drowcember to end the year of 2022, one that has been wild as fuck, and hopefully I get to continue this drawing rate I have into the next year. Enjoy!!!

Mmm I should be doing drowcember or drizztcember but instead I redrew a 3 yr old drawing. Say hi to Val'dran, my precious bby OC! He may or may not have some issues with being part shadow demon and losing control every now and then. Not helpful for his anxiety.

The sketch for the 23rd of Drowcember is ready! I will do the final drawing after preparing some cheese empanadas. Ñomñomñom.

Drowcember prt 2

Ok a continuation of the drowcember that expands the world building of my drow-like society of music box, the Dark fauth of O’sten  

these ideas are work in progress and so are these pictures but I wanted to share them before December was over. 

So prompt  5 family, a lot of different ways that these people think of family the most interesting is that of the cavern bats, where they do not do nuclear families as much and instead there is a tradition of mutual adoption among people. These adopted families tend to all live together in a home called Otoram. Which has a central atrium all connected to a bunch of rooms. in the duel millipede city and the black shawl spider city families are divided however they need to be, most often by multigenerational or nuclear families, cousins and relatives tend to live in the same neighborhoods or in apartment style buildings. often people will move into the mother’s neighborhood, or will spend some of the time in the fathers childhood neighborhood and the other in the mothers. other times families will strike out on their own to settle themselves in a different neighborhood all together or create a new one on the cities boarders. this being said there are also plenty of less conventional families as well, single parents are not uncommon (in part because of death or divorce but just as likely that the parent wanting a kid might go and have an arrangement with someone for a while and then sett out for themselves after.) neighborhoods made up of friends who formed a family are not a strange practice either. notably the surface dwellers of the continent do find these practices strange and in their lack of understanding tend to call them some rather choose words. (for example, it is thought that dark fauth keep harems, and rumors of the dark fauth being inbreed)

Prompt 6, festivals and celebrations, for some reason I only came up with festivals for the black chowl cavern city… I may need to fix that at some point but for now they have two! they have the festival of the pillars. a celebration that takes place once a year and celebrates all the achievement the city and individuals of the city have accomplished that year. it is a celebration of goals and survival. for the celebration a large wooden pillar is carved and decorated with all the noteworthy events of the year, including the death and birth of people of the city. the pillar is then lifted up and carried upright to its resting pace in the pillar gardens where pillars from the previous years are placed to rot and decay (as they are made of a single tree trunk) it us carried in a lavish parade and it is a game to keep the pillar upright with ropes as it is carried along. it is considered bad luck if the pillar falls on its way to the garden. the day is also a day of feasting, music, dancing, fun costumes, games, lotteries and trading of wares. its not unusual for outsiders of the city to be allowed in for these celebrations, and even surface dwellers have partaken in the celebrations before.  The Chowl ceremony is a much more private and interment event, that is a coming of age ceremony. the children who are roughly of 12-15 years of age (or for raquesasha the equivalent is ~27-32) to go to the temples of the city to undergo a series of ceremonial trials, and decide on what path in life they want to take, before finally receiving their shawls and ribbons. these are the marker of the citizens of the city. some adults who move into the city from elsewhere will also undergo these rituals.  note: the shawls and ribbons is a declaration of what gender(s) a person wishes to present as, because all children wear unisex clothing. the shawls are considered more feminine and the ribbons masculine, but a child can choose to take both ribbons and shawls and there are certain types of ribbons and shawls that denote other gender roles for them. a person can also reject taking either, or go through a new set of rituals to change whether or not they have ribbons or shawls.    Prompt 14 caves and cites, back ground, so this is a bit of an off one. here we have a collection ton of rough outlines for what the cavern city of the bats might look like, what an otoram might look like from above. along with some street outlines of the three cites I am working on: above a picture of a stalagmite and stalactite cave. I may or may not be borrowing some ideas from the different cave biomes in Minecraft, because as cool as caves are, I do not know a lot about them. though interesting note about the city of the bats that I decided on while creating this, was that the city has a lot of bats. The bats are seen as the symbol of the city so it is disrespectful, and bad luck to harm a bat, but lots of bats sleeping in a grotto brings with it some issues. such as.. oh I don’t know, guano. but this is not seen as a bad thing by the citizens. (well it is the reason a lot of them west large wide brim hats, and the smaller pointed caps, and wear respirator like devises and face coverings) no the guano is cleaned off and collected to be used in  a number of different things, such as fertilizer and as an ingredient in alchemy products. the other worry is decease, but the city has simply compensated for this with its excellent healthcare system and medical alchemy. there is also a general effort to place bat boxes away from the places that people frequent.   Prompt 4: intrigue/ thievery, I have got to admit I almost removed this one from the list. but I drew this guy.  imagine with me for a second: you are a person who lives in the city of esta, grand city of the keritok kingdom in o’sten. you need something stolen, or smuggled out of the city, perhaps a valuable and irreplaceable family heirloom or perhaps you got in a spot of trouble with the city officials and you ned to skip town, real quick and quiet. you get some contacts and they tell you they found you a guy, a guy who can get you exactly what you want. so with some trust in your confidant you steal away to one of the dusty and dilapidated inns of the city, a place where normally you would never find yourself caught dead. but your confidante assures you this is where you can meet the guy. so you step in on the creaking floorboards of the dock side inn, and enter a sidereal through one of the many sliding doors that separate spaces out to rooms. you continue through these rotting rooms until you are lead to where you need to go, and through a secret door you enter a small, smoke filled chamber, a sweet smell mixes with the salty rot of the docks, and there all draped out on a cushioned filled sofa is a Dark fauth smoking a long slender pipe. wearing that strange segmented clothing of the city of . the armored braces, and metal gorget to protect his neck. he blows more smoke forming strange shapes with them that you assume can only be done by the  creature’s vile magics. He finally acknowledges you entering the room. he leans forward. with all the draping shawl coming along with him. In a strange but familiar accent he asks “ So, you are here to do business with me?” anyways enough imagining for now. that’s some intrigue, though I’m not one that great at intrigue plots.

Drowcember | Día 27: Realeza | Princesa Drow, tercera en la línea de sucesión

Un dibujo rapidito, que arruiné con un fijador que se estaba acabando. Ajió.

Ella forma parte de Lore de Khadyush (principalmente, es la razón por la que termina en exilio). Su hermana protagoniza el día "Undead" de Drowcember, pero en ese dibujo me voy a demorar un poquito más. En cuanto a la ilustración, quería capturar la soberbia del personaje, y estoy bastante conforme con el resultado.

  New years approaches!! I’ve been working on some art but I think share a little yearly art summary this weekend!

Hello! Today I bring a long-awaited reference, starring Arcien Yu'Yden (they/them), my tiefling/drow wizard! I haven’t drawn them in a bit, but they’ve always been one of my faves. Yden has been filling a very different role in my campaign (where they’re morally very questionable) vs the campaign Yxala is in (where they get to be chiller and a fairly nice parent). I love exploring what a character could’ve been like in different conditions. However, only the first version gets the cool crystal arm artefact! (Also, feel free to ask any question you may have about them, I love answering those!)  As usual, reblogs are super appreciated! References like this are always very hard to get done

So I was browsing tumbler a few days ago and stumbled across something called drowcember. And I thought it was a fun idea so I found the years prompt list I decided to do a few of the prompts as a world building exercise on the society that is inspired by the dnd drow. The dark fauth.

That being said there is not a lot of things regarding the dark fauth yet so this is a WiP pice but I am enjoying how it is developing so far.

The dark fauth are a number of societies that hide out in the vast cavern systems of the south western port of O’sten. It is a place that has grown from being one of the few places that people with no where else to go can go, And over a long time and under the influence of the strange magic of the underworld the people have changed.

It is not only the Elv that live there but many other creatures, raquesasha who washed up from the distant continent of mergo and thier decents a long with the vicker who arrived here with a similar fate. Seen as sea devils by the society of O’sten and forced to live here.

In O’ller and O’sten they only recognize a few groups, the human societies, the fauth, the dark fauth, and jevels.

For this bout of prompt baised world building I decided to to focuse in on three city states from the underworld.

The grotto city of Elgar; the cavern bats.

The cavern city of Bal’kac’howl; the black kowl spider.

And the deep city of orgi’alli; the duel millipede

Prompt 1: weapons and armor: I’m not an ameture in drawing armor but I am also not that skilled in it. Picture one

So on the left we have a person from the cavern bat city, wearing a padded jacket and leather armor that sports a characteristic high collar of the city. Their short blades are called night catchers and are a modified dagger meant to wrap around shields and the Handel of exes and blades of swords to deflect blows easily. The front portion is shallow but sharp and roughly an inch (254 mm) in length. The curve is not as sharp but still meant to cut. They are also known for wielding spears.

In the middle we have a black khowl spider warrior, she is wearing glare resistant war paint. Along with the charred ivory hair comb, and the characteristic black shawl of the citizens of the city. The armor is covered in intricate decorations of spider webs. The weapon of choice is short brutal battle axes that let them manover in tight spaces

The armor on the right belongs to someone from the city of duel millipedes. They are wearing a chitinous armor of many overlapping layers that is covering the vitals while still allowing for flexibility. The weapon in their hand is a short kilv. A curved weapon that has one sharp outer edge and a curve with a sharp inside. These blades are well known to be particularly sharp and hard.

Prompt 2: magic/ arcana: so the most infamous part about the dark fauth for the surface dwellers of the world is that they practice dark magic. Which is simply the term used for magic not practiced by the accepted understanding of how magic on O’sten and O’ller works. Each city tends to have a magical specialty of thier own. Though this is not always the case. The magic specialties of these three cities are for cavern bats: they specialize in glyphs and magical arrays but also still practice the magics of the surface world as they live in a giant grotto. They also have a a fair amount of alchemy practiced as well.

Black Khowl: they allow themselves to practice wild magics. Especially any kind of magic that comes naturally to individuals.

Duel millipede: they are most well known for thier alchemy and rune work.

Prompt 3: song, dance, music: so here we have the bat silk dance of Elgar it’s a group dance and has several different dance forms for the bat silk. The one depicted is the rapt step.

In the picture below the rapt step bat silk dance is the dances of the black khowl.and the traditional costume of them as well with the high skirts and the silk sleeves (small open chest, long sleeves jackets that are highly embroidered and have complex ties in the front to mimic the intricate patterns of spider silk. There is the black shawl of wemon and the black ribbons of men. People will wear both or none as well. In the left hand corner of the drawing is a raquesasha playing an instrument that I have yet to name, with a bowl like body and an arm that is bent in a way to allow the strings to have a very low sound near the top and a bright, louder sound on the bowl. It is played either by plucking, strumming or by use of a bow.

And those are the first few prompts, I’ll see how many more I do.

Yeah I’ll be consistent with Drowcember this year….

Left is her outfit during Tomb of Annihilation. Yes she wore that in Chult and throughout the jungle, no it was not a good experience for her, she’s learned from her mistakes in her Return to the Tomb outfit (right).

I hope she fares a bit better than she did last time….
