This seemed appropriate for today. This is a print based on a tale of the Endurance, they were on a dangerous journey, encountered hardships, and be impossible odds to make it back home alive. They all pulled though and not a single man was lost, they did this by never loosing hope and looking out for one another.  We will get through this hard time, by applying the same lesson here. 

New Prints from Joseph Velasquez @drivebypress , This is part of a brand new series of prints from 2016. Combining techniques including woodcut, screen print, paper dying, chine-colle, and hand color work. Awesome work from an awesome artist and printmaker! 

Four Plate color etching “Los Indianos” 18x24 inches plate marks. This is still one of my favorite prints of all time, by Fred Stonehouse. Fred is a painter but when he makes prints the world smiles! This print has made the rounds and will next be framed and go in the permanent collection. 

Picked up this re-strike engraving while traveling in Italy. We stayed in Florence so this seemed like a great souvenir! Measures 11x35inches roughly.  

Sean Starwars is an OG of woodcut printmaking. He lives in Laurel, MS; with his wife and five young children, Sean has been an inspiration to DBP for years now. In addition to making woodcuts for over two decades, Star Wars’ work can be seen on book covers, album covers, magazines, and gig posters. Drive by Press  has always seen Sean as an artistic pioneer. His rough woodcut style is a direct result of the ferocious energy he attacks his wood-blocks with his carving tools while working.  Sean is prolific image maker by any standard and especially by printmaking standards. Drive by Press teamed up with Blue Point Brewing for the much anticipated release of their Prop Stopper Seaweed IPA. The recipe includes four different types of East Coast seaweed! This design called for a spilt fountain printing and was alot of fun to print. Loving the graphic fade! 

Drive by Press is making a custom t-shirt in honor of the Big Tent University of Wisconsin Alumni Art Show. The exhibition is showing 60 artists all Wisconsin! The opening is Aug 27th at Art Helix, 289 Meserole Street, Brooklyn, NY. Art Helix will be selling these limited edition woodblock t-shirts to raise money for the BIG Tent traveling exhibition!
