I hope to one day adopt a child. Not because I can't have babies, I just want to give a poor child who doesn't have a family the chance to be in one. People should adopt children more often, and not just people who can't have children by biological means. Because orphaned kids do not have a good time, especially when the foster care system is terrible and the adoption agencies are biased and prejudiced as all fuck. Adopt more children please. AND FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK DON'T TEASE THEM ABOUT IT. "You're adopted" jokes and teasing is wrong and could harm the child mentally. Don't be an ass. You chose to adopt them. Not their fault they're stuck with you. Adopting a child is not the same as adopting a puppy. When the puppy acts up, you give it back to the shelter. You can't do the same thing with kids. You can't just give it back after they show some problems. If you do, you're a complete and utter piece of shit that shouldn't adopt or have any children at all. Adoption is the same thing as conceiving a baby. You chose to have it/adopt them. Either deal with what you got and work through it and be a decent human being, or don't adopt or have children. It's that simple. Too many times has this happened to kids trying to find families that would accept and love them. Don't be one of those people, for fucks sake.

I see this kinda advice passed around all the time here is the thing: shading with black will indeed look bad if you don’t know what you are doing. However, telling people not to do things without explaining why is terrible advice.

Shadows are the opposite of light, this includes in colour.

This means that if you have light in one colour, the shadow will be of the opposing hue, saturation, and value.

Unless the object is white, it has its own local colour -  the object’s true colour, how it would appear if the light were pure white.

The colour of the light influences the local colour of the object. so if you had yourself a brown cube and a blue light, the colours would get bluer and pinker.

now the reason shadows do not tend to be black is because pure white light is hard to find in nature.

the closest you will get to pure white light is during a really overcast day and the sun is filtering through the clouds, but even then it’ll lean towards yellow so the shadows will be slightly blue.

But! None of this means you are never allowed to use black.

realistically shadows will have a hint of a colour to them, but stylistically you might be going for, say, a film noir look and deep black shadows are needed for impact for example.

The more you know about how light works, the more informed decisions you can make about shading and the more options you have.

If someone tells you that you can’t do something, they’re wrong! you can do what you like!

yes, black is hard to use and if you just mix a colour with black it’ll get muddy, but thats easily resolved by choosing your colours manually - which ideally you want to do regardless bc the computer doesnt have your eyes & cant choose the colours you like

basically if someone gives you some art advice and says you can’t do something, they’re wrong! you can, you just might need to study a little to figure out how to make things work.

I mean for example, people will say you must make your composition follow the rule of thirds and never align centrally, but while the rule of thirds makes it easy to create visual interest, Mad Max Fury Road is a testament to the fact that central composition can and will work if you experiment.

there are no rules in art! there are theories based on reality, this has been a post on colour theory & light theory, but they exist to inform you, not to restrict you.

Do what you like! Trust your eyes, if you think something looks good, then great! If you don’t, then research & experiment until you do.

A word on Zootopia...

Okay so we all have heard of Zootopia right? It’s the cute movie with all the animals in it that everyone’s laughing about because “haha furries” right? This thingy right here:

So it’s a kids movie. The target audience is clearly like, elementary and middle school-aged kids.  And we need to talk about that for a second, because being someone who works with kids as a means of income, I know that they’re extremely fragile. 

So what am I getting at here? Simple; be careful of what you draw and how you tag it. 

So in other words, yes there will be porn, but you need to tag it so it doesn’t turn up in Google Safe Search.

Ever since Disney started putting out trailers for this movie, I’ve been grinding my teeth in fear because I’m scared of what these poor kids are going to find. I’m thinking back to the MLP fandom and how even with Safe Search on you can still find porn of the characters from that show. Kids deserve to be able to watch movies intended for them without going on the internet later and doing a google search of their favorite characters, only to find a picture of them doing the nasty. Like seriously. Let kids be kids!

I know a lot of you guys are going to be really good about this, but for those of you who might forget, here are some tags that you should use on pretty much any website that you guys want to post your NSFW art on;

Google Safe Search will filter out anything tagged with the above. Which is good, because that’s what we want.

Tips on finding face claims

Finding face claims can be tough, especially if you’re looking for celebrities from other countries. Instead of looking through never ending lists of celebrities, here are two places where you find face claims. 

A quick tip to finding face claims is to Google “Famous (include ethnicity/nationality here) in Hollywood". This is great for those looking for POCs in Hollywood. Here’s an example for those looking for Filipino face claims. With a quick Google search, I found:

Some Hollywood Celebrities with Filipino Blood

20 International Stars You Didn’t Know Had Filipino Blood

In fact, you can simply type in “Famous (include ethnicity/nationality here) actors and actresses” and you will find tons of actors. Here’s some examples: “Philippines’ Most Beautiful Actresses/TV Personalities” and “Top 20 Most Beautiful Celebrities In The Philippines”.

This Google search will also lead you to other searches such as: “Famous Indian American Actors” and “Famous Indian Actresses in Hollywood”. They will also lead you to look through list of Bollywood actors such as ”The list of Top Bollywood Actors“ and ”Top 10 Most Popular Bollywood Actors in 2013”. 

In turn, this is leads us to my second tip for finding face claims: Look through popular gossip websites. While I’m not interested in gossip, those websites offer tons updated face claim ideas. Here are a few example:

While these tips stick with celebrities, don’t forget that you can look through famous singers, models, musicians, bands, TV personalities, and athletes from other countries too. Hopefully, this helps RPC/Hs create more diverse face claim master lists. Remember that Google is your friend but for it to actually work, don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Everything is out there if you’re willing to look for it.
