Ep 1 Part 3
Hello! I’m back, so let’s continue this 💪
I’m glad that the other mom saved them, but I still think the acting in this scene was a bit over-the-top.
12 Years Later..
Lol, classic sibling misdirection, I love it.
Well of course she’s upset! First her husband (I assume they married?) took out a loan for his MIL to the tune of 10 million won (about $7600 in today’s rate), and now the MIL wants her daughter to mortgage her home for more money?!
It’s not outrageous for her to want her brother to contribute to the family finances, honestly. Why must she be the one to shoulder all the responsibility?
If anyone ever wonders what asian parents are extremely good at, here it is : GUILT TRIPPING
I do like this little father-daughter scene though, you can tell the dad adores DD.
Valid question from a teenager, honestly.
I mean the mom should be fair from the beginning about it… but teenage years colors your perspective so much, it’s likely the mom was fair.
I buy that the dad told DD her mom is dead rather than telling her she left them. His pride is one thing, but I believe he thought it’s kinder to DD to tell this lie rather than the truth, since it is awful.
But it’s also completely understandable that she’s curious about the circumstance. Wanting to know what the mom looked like, especially if DD thought she’s dead, is very valid. I think the dad’s pride is the true reason why.
We end this scene with her throwing a perfectly good ice cream (which she wanted so much she chased and beat her brother all the way down the street) and running away crying. I wonder a little that the dad did ran after her, but maybe he knows it’s better to let DD cool off first.

Ep 1 Part 2
Let’s continue the throwback era!
Not the mom IMMEDIATELY flirting with a stranger in the airport after literally flailing into his arms! That’s cold, man.
We found out that she wants to be a fashion designer, and is moving to the USA to do so. Also the partner (we found out they’re not married!), was still hoping to encourage her move by coming to the airport to give her some money ($100 is not an insignificant amount for him, I’m sure), and to tell her they’ll be waiting and not to worry about them. But her leave is not without consequences…
The poor little baby‘s (Dan-Dan) birth can’t be registered without her mother! Tragic, and I wonder if it is still the law in some countries that only mom can register their baby when born out of wedlock. Can’t blame the dad for being upset. All that plus being fired for bringing his baby to work since no one else can watch her made him almost gave up all hope, which is understandable (except for the gosh let me just kill myself and my baby part). The poor man’s been through it!
Good thing the other mom saved them.
But I can also sympathize with the social worker for asking for proof that the man is Dan-Dan (DD)’s father; for all he knows he could’ve kidnapped the baby off the street!
*Also point one for physical confrontation for my bingo! Let’s keep a tally.
All in the first 10 mins of recapping what happened 25 years ago! At this point, my view of DD’s mom is..

Ep 1 Part 1
Holy pollution in 1995! And why are all these children (and some adults) running TOWARDS the smoke and not away from it???
Oh wow, DID NOT think it starts with a mother leaving her husband (sometimes marriage don’t work out, fine) and BABY? Her reasoning is a little weak imo, especially considering she’s leaving an infant behind, and her husband being a seemingly decent person. Kinda hard not to sympathize.
Plenty of drama in the first minute! I👏am👏here👏for👏it👏
Really hard not to agree, since the mother did it in such a public space in the middle of the day, with literally a whole street of witness to the man’s humiliation and tragedy.
But the next second the neighbor is so callous towards this mom! Who mentioned another person’s loss in such a casual way and then had the nerve to be all “why did she get offended, I’m just concerned”. Glad she got called the F out!
But bet that other mom is going to join forces with the dad to become a blended family so their kids can have two parents..
Yup, called it.

Our inaugural KDrama is called Young Lady and Gentleman, original airdate Sept 2021-March 2022 on KBS2 channel, all episodes are available on Netflix.
The description :
She took the job because it included room and board, but working for a rich chaebol family comes with its ups and downs.
What a vague and standard description 🙄 #dobetternetflix
But it reads as a run of the mill romcom, which is totally my jam, as long as it has actual comedy in it.
It has 52 episodes😱 which is unusual, since most KDramas I’ve watched only has 24 eps or less. On one hand, it means people are invested enough to keep watching, but if it gets boring somewhere in the middle, I WILL pull the plug.
I will be reacting to the episodes in a series of posts with screenshots under fair use for commentary/review purposes, feel free to chime in anytime!
