13. How much planning do you do before writing?

massively varies! for my terror big bang i had the major plot points laid out to write towards, but for other fic I tend to put down a few vague plot details then write in their general direction for 4+ thousand words. works like a charm (i have dozens of abandoned wips)

16. At what point in the process do you come up with titles?

usually once the fic is mostly or entirely written. i find titles horrendously difficult and usually default to mountain goats lyrics or poetry, so unless i am writing something very short and specific i have to wait and see what the Vibes are like

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

interesting question! i think there's any number of concepts which have occurred to me which i would find difficult to pull off (usually the really long casefic ones...). i have a whole folder of abandoned fic as well. i suppose the one i regret not being able to write the most was one i started where ezri dax from ds9 is aroace and then has to deal with the feelings which her symbiont carries from previous hosts. always ended up too schmangsty when i tried!

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?

SO much stuff. one things that springs to mind is the history of hockey sticks and the importance of the mi'kmaq to it. also for that same fic i spent SO long researching the history of churchs in sudbury ontario to the extent that i possibly slandered the memory of an actual priest from the 1920s. in my defense he probably also would've been homophobic

oh, constantly. there are some i struggle rereading because the writing experience wasn't the best, but i do write mostly for an audience of one (me) and it's just nice to have other people around who like it as well!
