So after my little rant the other day I decided to just ... not continue on webtoons. Turns out I severely underestimated how restrictive their content guidelines are. Sure Empyrean is no 18+ comic, but it does contain partial nudity and will have scenes of intimacy that, while not particularly explicit, will still probably be too risqué for them.
I also don't feel like creating a watered down (aka censored) version just for webtoon. More work just to have something I, myself, won't even like? No thanks!
It's still on Tapas though, and I've also decided to try out this pretty new webcomic platform called Namicomi. It's still in its beta phase, but seems promising enough. If nothing else I really appreciate how it supports traditional horizontal comics as well as vertical scrolling comics (you can even choose to read the comics as double-spreads if you like). \( *o* )/ Might sound silly but it really means a LOT to me. Not only because that's how my comic is meant to be read, but also because I find it much easier to read while on desktop.

Thoughts about Empyrean (and Webtoon)
Okay, so Empyrean is back up on Webtoon now, but I had to cover some statues in the backgrounds that were too risqué for webtoon (can't have them female presenting nipples I guess, not even when they're made out of rocks).
So time for some thoughts (or rant if you will).
I've been reading up on other people's experiences with webtoon, their rules, and how they're applied aaaand I can't say I'm a fan. I'll keep Empyrean there for now, but I'm gonna have to consider if it's really worth the trouble. I'd definitely have to censor more statues in the future, which I already dislike ... a lot*, but who knows what other things they might deem too obscene? Where does the line go for male nudity? What about their nipples? I even think I saw someone who had their comics taken down for a dialogue line that went: "you crazy bastard". (Ｔ▽Ｔ)
Empyrean just feels like a bad match for webtoon. Thinking about future scenes, some of them would probably have to be changed in ways that would really hurt the story. The only positive(?) thing I can think of about webtoons is their huge userbase, but idk if it's worth sacrificing my artistic integrity for.
Now, after I've typed all this out, the answer to my dilemma feels pretty clear. It'll stay up until I've sorted out my alternatives though. And at least it's safe on Tapas (though I have been checking nervously all day).
*yes, the comic contains a fair bit of statues with strong topless women. They're there to emphasise their society's view on women as powerful and non-sexualised (aka "the stronger sex"). (very inspired by renaissance and baroque sculptures, just with different gender roles).

They simply cited "nudity" as the reason. I've asked for some clarification, but I think I already know which panel they mean. It's still ridiculous of course.
Honestly I think I severely underestimated just how strict webtoon is when it comes to this kinda stuff.
Empyrean was taken down from Webtoon not even 2 hours after i posted about it lmao xD
Currently seeing if I can get it back, but we'll see.

Empyrean is now available to read on both Tapas and Namicomi! At the moment, it's only the prologue. But I've decided on an update schedule now, so starting next week, everyone can expect 4-6 new pages every other Monday. ヽ(•‿•)ノ I'll be posting them here on tumblr too though, and I also plan to look at other more desktop-friendly alternatives (if anyone has suggestions, please, feel free to leave a comment).
Edit: I will not keep updating on Webtoon, as I realised it was a very bad fit for Empyrean.

Just wanna say thank you to everyone who rebloged and/or left nice lil' comments Empyrean! I've been working for so long on this comic and I'm so excited to start showing it to people. So it just really means a lot to hear that you liked it it! Really made my day! ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝
I'm gonna upload the rest of the prologue next week, and then try to figure out a good schedule for the rest of the pages.
